"A young Queensland man feared murdered after going missing 55 years ago was a police informant.Vincent Raymond Allen was 22 when he disappeared from Warwick, west of Brisbane, in April 1964.
A labourer and local rugby league player, Mr Allen had assisted police over two jewellery store robberies in the local area. "Two offenders were arrested for that," Detective Inspector Damien Hansen told reporters on Tuesday.
"As a result of Mr Allen's suspected murder, he was unable to give evidence and those charges were dropped."
On Tuesday, the state government announced a $250,000 reward for information around his disappearance."
