A swanky London apartment's floating stairs might look impressive, but have been branded a 'bonkers death trap' by guests who have to navigate a series of tiny and twisting steps just to reach the toilet.

How do they get dirty clothing up there, and washed clothes back down? I presume that's a washer on the left (washer, dryer, combo, doesn't really matter in this situation). Does the railing also serve as a means of transporting clothes, laundry bags and baskets?
That's another novelty of this setup, watching clothes get washed while you're on the loo. Photo from above article:

The owner probably can't handle living with those wacky stairs, either.
Can't imagine someone licensed and insured built them? It's a bit funny, really.

I don't see any stairs?

Perhaps they were built as a kind of a challenge, so they'd make the news and go viral.

They might attract a certain type that's into challenges.

That's almost what it looks like to me. Doesn't London have building codes, like we do in America? Or does this get some kind of artistic exemption?

Why on earth would anyone think these look impressive?? They just look all messed up. Like someone, a non-professional someone, just tacked in a bunch of pieces of whatever all willy-nilly to improvise makeshift steps so they can get to their toilet. Wouldn't even call it a staircase at all.

You can always slide down that hand rail pole like a fireman does.
Going up though is another matter.

See what looks like iPads randomly stuck to the walls? Those are the “steps.”

no I don't
I see a toilet, a window, a washing machine and 3 bottles of cleaners on top of the washing machine

That's in the photo I posted, in post #2. The steps are in the photo in Tootsie's opening post.

I really don’t see how this bathroom could in any way be called “swanky.”

I've seen similar ones before and no, I would not traverse.
