From what I'm told, the Green Mountains are the Pink Mountains today. What a tribute to a wonderful person.

Very very touching.

She already started painting herself at questioning when she had her little "medical emergency". Not that it got her anywhere; they just dragged her right back to the police station an hour later.

I wonder if AP's family will back up PP's story that she was at home that night and not with AP when Melissa was killed? If the family can possibly save one of them, will they? And do police have more on PP than just AP's accusations against her? PP claims she wasn't there and wasn't involved.

I hope Melissa told her friend exactly which of them called her and not just the "couple who plowed her driveway" as stated in news articles. And hopefully Melissa's son saw both of them (not that he can testify though). They need more evidence against PP than merely AP's word. If PP sticks to her story of innocence this could get tricky.

Sorry, I missed the news about PP's medical emergency. I do remember reading one of her issues was panic attacks. Does anyone know yet exactly what her disability was that qualified her for disability support payments?

Not sure but my brother was faking panic attacks years ago to try to qualify for disability (and get his drugs legally) and it didn't work. He finally found a quack that diagnosed him with back problems and he qualified for disability based on that.

He is nothing but a legal drug addict now who sits on his patootie and draws a nice check, gets his drugs, medical and psych. visits all paid for and lives off uppers and downers.

No idea, but she evidently is able bodied enough to strangle to death a healthy adult.

Her ex-husband said she had mental problems (that's an understatement, I think), so maybe she received disability for her anxiety/depression/panic disorder. AP's family mentioned that PP is a diabetic as well; likely type 2 as a result of her morbid obesity I would guess.

No one from her family, nor any of her friends other than the ex-husband, has said a peep about her.

Thanks for the link, TexasLil.

The date of her death is Monday. In his confession, AP said he strangled her immediately.

No way for a second do I believe they killed her immediately. I think what Melissa's son saw was them forcing her by her neck to kidnap her and then the sicko wife held her down for the drive to their house or they had means pre-planned to keep her quiet. Who knows where they went with her in between or what they did at the house. There is much more that is not being released and in my opinion she might have been unconscious or passed out while in the car, was assaulted and then was further strangled. The beating just seems to not fit unless she was still alive and I think she was. She may have woken up in the car during a sexual assault and they beat her unconscious and then further strangled her. She fought, no question.

I can't say whether they pre-planned it so well or not. They could have just happened to have one of those phones because their's was turned off or disconnected etc. We might be reading too much into the tracphone thing. I don't think these two numbskulls were smart enough to go buy a tracphone to plan for this. Why did they have Melissa's number, or maybe it was listed in a phonebook? Did they think throwing the phone in the water would make the call list go away, lol?

How many times have any of us been in a situation where it was just uncomfortable and we didn't do it? We just didn't do it and were glad later we didn't? Melissa, I wish you had taken your friend with you or just went with your gut and declined to help them. Your kindness, what so many people are lacking now, brought this. A split decision, it's all it takes.

I am wondering why the different treatment at the arraignment hearing. PP is allowed to wear street clothes and a coat, no handcuffs, nodda. AP on the other hand is in the classic orange attire, shackled at hands and feet.

Is it just me or do they look alike?? His mom and sister looked alike as well.

I lean towards she being the instigator in this. I'll bet this isn't the first time either.

"Donna Prue lived with her son and his wife in Waterford at least since the couple married in July. She said when news broke Monday morning of Jenkins’ disappearance, her son “was scared” but “reassured me he didn’t do anything.”

Interesting. Why, on Monday morning, would AP have been scared and have to reassure his mother he didn't do anything? Why would she have thought he had something to do with it? They hadn't even found Melissa's body at that point.

I think Mom knows more about her son's deviance than she lets on.

The do resemble eachother. I have some thoughts but not going to take the thread there. I'd likely get a time out! :shush:

BBM. I do, as well. I think PP was jealous of AP's infatuation with Melissa, and I think PP was envious of all Melissa was that PP wasn't and never would be. I think PP encouraged this murder and egged it on. And I think she enjoyed it.

AP spilled his guts immediately when questioned. PP is a fount of denial and I bet she's irritated at Melissa, and now AP as well, for bringing her down.

PP should be on an episode of Deadly Women for sure.

I've had to sit on my fingers a few times in this thread. Plenty of comment contributors on the news sites have put into words what we can't say here, so we definitely are not alone in some of our thoughts.

I am so disgusted by these two <unusual> people I can barely see straight.

We know from the affidavit investigators went to the Prue's residence and questioned them some time on Monday. It just doesn't state what time. We do know LE already knew the story about the car breaking down, the call was from someone who had plowed snow and they found Prue's business card on Melissa's kitchen counter. IMO there were probably out there questioning Prue early that morning.

Curious if LE went to their trailer that evening and no one was home and the car was gone...or in a garage? So many questions....where was mom that evening/night if she was there the next morning? Where were they for almost 6 hrs? Is it possible they took her to someone else's house? Could there be more persons involved?

I just keep thinking about people like Shawn Adkins in the Hailey Dunn case. People into the macabre; masks, swords, knifes, interests in death and gore, etc.

Such a heartbreaking story, but on a happier note, seeing pictures on FB of St. Johnsbury and beyond "going pink" for Melissa is wonderful. The Prues are basically public enemy number one right now, but at least everyone was able to focus their anger and grief on celebrating Melissa's life by wearing pink. I've seen pictures of doors wrapped in pink, flowers planted specifically for today, pink ribbons, and pretty much everyone in the community - whether they live up there or not - have worn pink today (same goes for myself).

I still can't help but feel such anger and hatred toward the people who did this. There's literally nothing that will ever give enough justice for what they've done. Even the death penalty will never be enough. Nothing done to them will bring back Melissa.

I should add that many think Vermont is a very progressive State, and it is, if you live in the upper west side or the the mid to southern side. The Northeast Kingdom on the other hand is like the neglected child.

Yes and it is very beautiful.

very good slide show of the case on the front page of this link... The Prue place looked like a complete dump... there was one picture with the DA on their property and there is a huge mountain of old tires in the background.. another pictures shows divers in the shallow spot where she was found...

Not to spread rumors, but supposedly (according to a link the local radio station is sharing) there's a report of another missing girl in town. Please say it isn't true!

*EDIT* The missing girl has been located, or so I hear from locals.
