SHARON — Police are looking for an Upper Valley school bus driver from Sharon after he failed to show up for work on Monday.

Randy Koloski, 68, was last seen on Sunday at his home on Farm Field Road off Route 14 in Sharon, according to Hartford Deputy Police Chief Brad Vail, who said a joint search with Vermont State Police is now underway using K-9 teams and aerial drones.

“At this point he’s ... a missing person and we don’t have any information to the contrary,” Vail said Wednesday. “The most important thing is for Mr. Koloski to be found safe and sound. It’s an important thing if anybody has any information or may have seen something to contact us.”

Two things strike me from the article above <both BBM>

"Initially, Hartford police thought that Koloski’s last known whereabouts were on Saturday night, when video cameras installed on the bus recorded him at his employer’s bus depot on Route 14 in Hartford, Vail said.

“Now there may be some additional information that he was last seen at his residence on Sunday afternoon,” Vail said.

Adding to the mystery is that Koloski’s phone and checkbook were found inside his personal vehicle, which was parked at the bus depot, according to Sgt. Scott Moody with the Hartford police. The car was unlocked.
**********************

Why does this seem to be the same factor in so many missing person cases? The phone is left behind in SO many cases.

And then this:

"A neighbor of Randy Koloski’s who lives across the lane from him said on Wednesday she had seen Koloski talking from his doorstep to another man between noon and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Debra Ackley, who has lived across the lane from Koloski for 20 years, said when she heard voices talking at her neighbor’s she went outside to take a look because “I just figured not many people go to Randy’s house. Few and far between.”

Ackley said she figured Koloski was talking with someone he worked with because she heard Koloski say “see you tomorrow” before the man got into a “small pickup truck” and drove away.
**********************
Fingers crossed LE will be able to track down who this was.

Search for missing Sharon school bus driver comes up empty - VTDigger
[...]

Vail said the search on Friday involved a team from the volunteer group New England K9 Search and Rescue, drones operated by Vermont State Police, a swift water rescue team boat from the Hartford Fire Department and a fixed-wing Border Patrol aircraft dispatched from Plattsburgh, N.Y., to scan the White River and Connecticut River.

The police teams and volunteers visited the area around Koloski’s residence on Farm Field Lane off Route 14 in Sharon; areas along the White River near Student Transportation of Vermont’s bus facility in West Hartford; and a vacant Koloski relative’s home on Old River Road in Hartford, Vail said.

New England K9 Search and Rescue, with a team of four trained “air scent dogs,” showed up at the bus depot at 9 a.m., said Donna Larson, a founding member of the organization which helps with Vermont State Police and New Hampshire Fish and Game Department searches. She estimated they searched about 100 acres around the bus depot site.

[...]

Vail said investigators have not yet been able to determine whether Koloski drove his vehicle to his employer’s bus depot, which is 6.2 miles south on Route 14 from Koloski’s residence.

[...]

Larson said she’s been involved in many searches over the years but she described Koloski’s disappearance as puzzling.

“This is an odd case,” Larson said in the parking lot at Student Transportation of Vermont after wrapping up the nearly four-hour search. “This is a big mystery. He’s just gone.”

Officers responding to reports of a body found in the Connecticut River in Charlestown, New Hampshire pronounced the man dead Saturday, police said. Officials identified the man as Randy Koloski, 68, of Sharon, Vermont, who had been reported missing earlier in the week.

Officials will conduct an autopsy Monday but do not suspect foul play.

Rest peacefully, Randy.

I wonder how and why he ended up in the river. I'm curious about the conversation the neighbor witnessed. Who was it and what did he and Randy discuss? I hope LE does a thorough investigation. Something feels weird about this case. IMO

Rest in peace, Randy. :(

I'm uneasy about this also, especially after reading comments about the White River being behind his house and his work, but then finding his body in the Connecticut River 40 miles south in NH in less than a week?

I know zilch about river currents but JMO LE really needs to see the man the neighbor overheard who said "see you tomorrow".

I would like to understand why they don’t suspect foul play. Very sad about this. He lived about an hour away from me.

I think a family member has replied to a comment. I hope the autopsy provides definitive answers.

The White River feeds into the Connecticut River.

River reports for Hartford VT show it flowing at about 1,000 cubic feet per second. There's no way to translate that to mph without a lot more data, but even assuming the river's moving at a very slow 1 mph, that's 24 miles of travel per day.

This means it's very realistic that he could have gone into the White River behind his house on Sunday or Monday, and be found 40 miles downstream on Saturday.
