Bio mom was afraid to leave him alone at her house. She sent him to his bio dad’s house. Presumably so that he would be secure. What the heck? If bio mom knew he was unstable, even if she thought he would be supervised by bio dad and his new wife, why would she knowingly leave him to be supervised in a house where guns were present? She had to know better. IMO.

The fact is
he was NOT supervised by father.
Father left the house to work.

Nobody should have demanded from a new wife to take care of a violent unhinged man twice her size who was refusing to take meds.

The perp was NOT HER responsibility.
He had bio parents.

But she was left alone with the perp.
And paid with her life.

I agree.

I posted upthread regarding the relationship between Dad and Son. It was not a good one according to family members. He hadn’t stayed overnight with Dad in a very long time, again according to family.

IMO, JR was coddled by his Mom, which contributed to the difficult relationship with Dad. It seems she was very much in denial about the reality of her sons mental illness. Meaning at 22 he still didn’t have a diagnosis, per her statement to LE.

Very sad.

In court, Crossman's defense attorney entered a plea of not guilty to all three charges. The court ruled Crossman to be held without bail.
[snip]
After the ruling was made, the judge said that a weight of evidence hearing will be scheduled as soon as possible.

She packed him a suitcase at 22... I'm definitely in agreement with you that he was coddled. At 22 he should have been more then capable of packing his own suitcase.

This is in reference to Knox's reply above. I hit "reply" but for some reason it didn't transfer.

The New England States stay quieter with horrendous cases... just not that much press.

But this is a pretty thorough look at the family and the situation with Brian Crossman junior... and how the first days went down....

“Erica and Brian were beloved members of our team, and their deaths have left us all in shock and grief,” the statement added. “They were more than just colleagues; they were integral parts of GMP, bringing their unique talents, kindness, and positive energy to everything they did.”

This human is just so disgusting... and sick, I suppose. Bet that will be the end result. MH setting forever.

Linking another thread here with a very similar outline. However, in this case, it appears there family was intact. It’s an even clearer case of the state mental health system failing.

He's definitely mentally ill IMO. Per the article you linked:

His mother told investigators that about two years ago, she noticed his “behavior beginning to escalate,” the court filings stated. “These behaviors included him talking to himself in a way to suggest he was having a conversation with himself in his own mind.”

There is no long-term MH setting in Vermont for people convicted of crimes. It's a mess.

Court documents show a schedule for the case, which states that a jury draw will take place no sooner than February 2026.
