Found Deceased WA - Amy Kennelly, 48, Woodway, 29 February 2016

just brainstorming.

she had some drug issues, which prob led to the demise of her marriage etc.... she had dinner w her son and was nostalgic. upset. not in her right mind. took a drive by the old homestead and hit the door of the garage either on purpose out of frustration or accident because she was inebriated.

I don't know the rest. maybe she hit her head? maybe she OD'd? I don't know that part.

Being outside all night, it could be she died of hypothermia.

— A body found Thursday has been confirmed as that of Amy Kennelly, 48, of Edmonds.

Kennelly's cause of death is under investigation by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office. Police do not suspect foul play.

Yes, I think this is a real possibility. With temperatures as low as 42 F on Monday night and only climbing as high as 52 the following day, if she was wet and unconscious or incapacitated she made have been very vulnerable to the low temps.

There are lots of comments on this news from locals who don't understand how her body was overlooked for a couple of days. All I can say is that the area is densely wooded. If she tried to shelter under shrubbery, I think she could easily have been very well hidden. There are even ravines and other places she may have fallen into. This is such a sad story.

There was a report that clothing had been located in a neighboring area. Maybe hypothermia COD is something to consider.

I thought that when I read the items found were clothing.

I saw an article in the Everett Herald yesterday or the day before saying the COD was still undetermined. It could still be quite awhile, apparently. Sorry, I am in my phone and cannot link to the article online.

Is it unusual for the COD to be undetermined for this long? I am assuming she's already been buried as it's been over 2 weeks..?

  • #72
Toxicology, depending on how many substances they are checking for, can take 8-9 weeks in some jurisdictions. RIP Amy.

It's been over a month since Cheryl Deboer was found. Still no results back on her either. Same Medical Examiner.

I searched to see if there was any news and the latest seems to be the article you were referring to over two weeks ago: Cause of Edmonds woman’s death yet to be determined, published 3/16. It says the police won't release more info until the autopsy is completed by the ME, which "could take several months."

Knowing Cheryl DeBoer's didn't take that long, I checked the ME's report but it still has Amy listed only under March 4, with MOD and COD pending investigation.

Sorry about the no-info bump.

So glad to have it confirmed, for the community's sake, that poor Amy's death was accidental - but very sad for her family's loss. Rest in peace, Amy.

Does this mean if they would have found her sooner that she could have lived? Very sad. :(
