Related to the terrorism in North Carolina?

Copycat of the terrorism in North Carolina?

The PNW region seems to have some problems with lawlessness recently imho?

I don't think it's related, to be honest with you. I think it's copycat vandalism. JMO though. I could be wrong.

Very scary. I hope they’ll install cameras around all power stations, all over the country. That these acts of vandalism happened during weather alerts in WA coming one by one is making me livid. We had snow since the beginning of last week, with black ice all over the state on 22-23, with all local airports being closed and all flights cancelled. Including Seattle-Tacoma airport. There are still people straddled in SeaTac. Now we have avalanches warning for the state. It is not an emergency, but a very unpleasant situation, and people are preparing for natural power outages and staying at home. On such days, to knowingly vandalize power stations amounts to terrorism, sorry. IMHO.

I see the headlines on yahoo news. So no local news outlets are reporting on this problem?

My question was directed at @Springrain. I quoted her post.

I would have expected local news affiliates to report on such a disruption.

Sorry, didn't realize that was for me lol

They started to later in the day but I hadn't read hardly anything about it for a couple of hours. Now it's much more known about. There's not a ton of local news affiliates in the area anyway.

Matthew Greenwood, 32, and Jeremy Crahan, 40, both of Puyallup, Washington,... [snip]... conspiracy to damage energy facilities and possession of an unregistered firearm.

The first offense is punishable by up to 20 years in prison, while the latter is punishable by up to 10 years, according to federal prosecutors.

The two men are believed to be behind attacks at all four substations...

Burglar?
Why not just call them terrorists? It's what they did

I wonder if it's related

Three Men Plead Guilty to Conspiring to Provide Material Support to a Plot to Attack Power Grids in the United States
According to court documents, Christopher Brenner Cook, 20, of Columbus, Ohio; Jonathan Allen Frost, 24, of West Lafayette, Indiana, and of Katy, Texas; and Jackson Matthew Sawall, 22, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, each pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to provide material support to terrorists. The charge and plea agreements indicate that the defendants knew and intended that the material support they conspired to provide would be used to prepare for and carry out the federal offense of destroying energy facilities.

TACOMA, Wash. — A 40-year-old Puyallup man was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to conspiracy to destroy energy facilities in the vandalism of four substations last December.

Jeremy Crahan was sentenced in U.S. District Court to serve 18 months in prison.

In a plea agreement, Crahan admitted he helped Matthew Greenwood vandalize four power substations and plotted to fell trees to take out power lines. Crahan shared in the planning and provided a lookout during the attacks.

[...]

After that vandalism, Greenwood and Crahan looked for ways to cause additional outages by felling trees. They were arrested before they could carry out that plan.

Greenwood has also pleaded guilty and is scheduled to be sentenced in January 2024.
