And with the article mentioning Near the overflow lot, then is it understood that she parked on a neighborhood street, is that correct? Or near this particular intersection? I see you updated your post a bit..

The only thing I have seen that mentions her car's location just says "23400 block of 58th W." The lot is on 58th, so it is unclear to me exactly where the car was.

ETA: Just looked at a map. It looks like the 23400 block would have been on the street, but not sure. The library address (part of the civic center/"overflow lot" area) is a bit to the north.

ETa again :). Just saw your link, Treelights. It does sound like the car was on the street. I am starting to think the so-called overflow lot is not an actual thing. There is civic center parking, but I doubt transit center parking is OK there. I could be wrong.

I wish I could link to the map on my phone. It looks like she would have been parked next to the park. If you want to look, search for the Mountlake Terrace library; you should get a map.

So if her car was parked on the street, I wonder if there is video surveillance of when her car actually arrived?

There was evidence that she was near her car. I wonder if the evidence would be the cell phone GPS?

http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20160210/NEWS01/160219855

If someone else had her phone, then that doesn't necessarily mean that she drove herself to where her car was parked. Someone else could have texted that.

I wonder what kind of evidence is LE speaking of.

Maybe clothing was found? Maybe something personal of hers? Maybe her cell phone was left behind?

IMOO.

I would think that the evidence would be camera footage. Wasn't it said in the presser that nothing helpful had been found during the searches yesterday of the area where the car was found?

Thanks! :)

I just viewed a portion of the video and Pickard mentions around the 12 minutes 39 seconds portion of the video:
Pickard states:

"This area that she walked down..."

(He was talking about a gravel pathway.)

So perhaps he talked to people who saw her, or she is on video...

He did say "She Walked Down", like perhaps she was there...IMOO.

Thanks for bringing the video to my attention again. :)

Is it clear where this gravel pathway leads?

I just watched the video as well. LE says that their focus...main focus...in on the cell phone pings. So it would seem that that is the evidence that the phone was where the car is parked.

They do confirm that she would park up by the library if the parking lot was full.

I wonder if she went back to her house to get her badge. The friend texted back that she/he would wait, how long? Then CD's phone texts back 10 minutes. It sounded like the friend waited for her but didn't get any response from CD.

So, maybe CD went back home to get the badge...and something happened at home (or to or from) and the person had her phone and knew where she would normally park.

The older woman ( I didn't hear who she is) on the video also used past tense when talking about Cheryl.

I think they mean the path that leads through the park to the transit center. Police reported they have searched the park with K9s.

I just get a very bad feeling about all of this, maybe it’s because I am familiar with the area so it hits close to home. The park & ride lots are not safe even when they are in fairly good areas like Mountlake Terrace. In regards to her bus pass and work ID, they are probably the same card, I work for the same institution she does and my work ID and bus pass are combined into one card. I would not be able to ride the bus if I didn’t have it THOUGH if you have a route that usually has the same driver every morning (which is common), often the driver will let you on if you don’t have your card and they recognize you, I’ve done this a few times.

Am trying to link to a map of the area...shows where her car was found, and you can see where the path runs through Veterans Memorial Park to the Park and Ride.

SassyBenton, have you used this P&R? I am actually closer to Brier so don't use the MLT P&R, but I know the area a bit. I hadn't heard anythink sketchy about the area or the park until the case came up. It has been informative.

I haven’t used it but I used to live a short distance away and drove by it on a regular basis. I’ve always felt safe in that area but I don’t think I would be cutting through that park by myself early in the morning, personally I would feel unsafe.

Speculation: I suspect the route from her house to the car's parking place would have brought her onto 58th Avenue from the south. This is all residential. If she had come from the north, she would have passed the library et al and I think there would be a much stronger chance of CCTV footage.

Same here. I never knew about the park shortcut until yesterday. I went and took a peek last night. Would not cut through there alone, but I wonder how many people were around. It might be a parade at 7:45. But probably not, if reports are accurate that parking is still available in the main lot at that hour.

She might be braver than I am. I gather from Facebook that she is into more adventurous activities, and given that MLT is pretty safe, she may have been more intrepid than I would be.

I wonder if any of the evidence referred to by police was found by the K9 search. I wonder if they caught her scent for a bit, causing the police to say she was near the car when she disappeared. They seem to be keeping details close to the vest.

Thank you for the map!

The park is really small, and they have searched it ... so assuming she went through the park alright, then what could have happened next? She got on a bus? Or are there other modes of transport close by as well? A taxi stand perhaps? But why would she leave her car and take a taxi, makes no sense. Perplexing situation.

Has it been confirmed she made it to the trail in the park? If not, there’s the possibility that while she was on her way to the trail someone pulled up along side her and pulled her into their car or if she did make it to the park & ride she may have walked past someone who was just waiting in their car ready to grab someone, though you’d think she would’ve screamed and someone at the park & ride would’ve heard her. My brother is retired law enforcement who worked on several abduction cases and he has always pounded into my head to never park or walk by vans with sliding side doors, it is so easy for someone to grab you while you’re walking by and just throw you into the side of the van and just slide the door closed.

Just skimmed through the thread & I didn't see this question but I may have missed it....
Where was CD supposed to meet the friend to carpool? I'm sure there was a designated spot to meet, just haven't seen mention of it. Would they meet at or around where her car was found?

The thoughts & opinions stated above are that, MY random thoughts & opinions.

The reports I've seen say that "evidence" places her near the car when she disappeared. It doesn't sound like she made it through the park. I agree that if she had been approached at the P&R, there would be witnesses and/or she may have had the opportunity to scream. The P&R is pretty small and wide open, except for the parking structure but we know she didn't park there

That's why I think there might be more evidence that perhaps was found on Monday, ( I don't know about it being by K9 though, imoo...) when and where the car was parked.
Perhaps LE didn't find any more clues after Monday, so when people searched after that, perhaps there was nothing to be found and that is why nothing was found?? (K9's did search and it was said they found nothing, but I am not sure of the date that that occurred.)
Just thoughts.
I agree, I think LE seem to be keeping some details to themselves.
IMOO.

I wonder if all the family members are searching for Cheryl?
Her husband and son were said to have been too grief stricken to speak last night at the press conference.
Did they attend the conference?
I know this must be difficult.
It's sad, really…
Where are you Cheryl?
