Found Deceased WA - Cheryl DeBoer, 54, Mountlake Terrace, 8 February 2016 #1

I've been wondering about the text message and how her phone was set up. I have my security settings to require a password whenever the phone idles. I can see incoming text messages but to respond, I need to enter that password to get to the screen. I know some people think that is a pain but it would prevent someone from making calls or texts on my phone should I lose it. I wonder what CD had as far as security settings. If she did not send that text and had similar security on her phone - the person would have had to known her code in order to respond and that would require CD to still be alive to give it or they were close to her and knew it. I can envision perhaps she was sitting in the car texting her friend and her doors may have been unlocked and someone jumped in....and took her phone. But I don't see a stranger being much interesting in returning texts let alone knowing about her badge left at home if it were a complete stranger.

Right. I have a code, too. I also have the code to my fiancé's phone.

Okay, I don't know if this is a stupid question or if it's already been asked, but *if* someone close to her did this, why in the hell would they put her body so close by?? I guess I would expect that person to put her further away, unless it was a panicked situation.

I think you are right that it is "odd" that the body was so close... But I think they wanted her to be found... Just not right away.

I sincerely apologize in advance, as I'm sure this has been covered and I missed it by skipping repetitive posts.

1. I don't care about Ted Bundy in any way, shape or form as it does not relate to Cheryl (MOO)
2. I don't care about the Green River Killer guy in any way, shape or form as it does not relate to Cheryl(MOO)
3. If she was AT the park and ride at the 7:02 am text stating she forgot her badge and needed 10 mins.. then obviously she never left that park and ride did she?
The badge and bus pass were at home...she never made it back to that home (or if she did, someone forgot to deal with the badge and pass)
4. If she was AT the park and ride at the 7:02 am text, then why did 'she' move her car several blocks (as I understand the dynamics) away, without getting her badge and pass?
5. How long did the co-worker/car pool companions wait for her to appear or text an update before they went on to work? Why did THEY not alert police? Or did they when they got to work?
6. Did THEY call the husband and ask as to Cheryl's status?
7. What time did her workplace notify her husband she did not come to work?
8. What time did her husband report her missing?
9. What time did her husband find the car?
10. Was her purse, phone, wallet etc in the car?
11. Could Cheryl have been somewhere else and was moved down to the grassy area of the culvert by all the rain?
12. Are they grates, bars or anything else on the culverts?
13. Could she have been somewhere else completely and only recently placed there? Guess we won't know that until the ME releases a report.
14. Why wasn't she noticed sooner?

Of course all my own thoughts and opinions.

I haven't gotten to far in on this thread past when the body was found, so please forgive me if it's been talked about, mentioned or if I'm just completely off.

Just a thought, but if it were who everyone assumes, wouldn't it have made more sense to text the carpool driver that she was sick that day and wouldn't be in. Then the next day she could either be sick again or forgot her badge and had to go home to get it. That would have given (insert assumed name) another day to do whatever and an extra day or two before she was missed at work.

But making sense doesn't really apply I guess because killing someone just doesn't make sense.

Yes one of those comments answers questions about the place she parked, it would've been very unlikely something happened to her that morning without someone witnessing it. My question is, why are the police so sure she was near her car that morning? What did they find? I'm thinking its the last ping from her phone.

Regarding the part I bolded above.....before joining this site? No. But just today I was seated at a restaurant in a window booth and saw an underpass with a tunnel/water drainage and thought exactly that. I wondered if LE checks there every so often as we have 2 unsolved missing persons cases nearby. While I would like to call the non-emergency line and ask, I can't imagine how that would be received...I saw a great place to hide bodies...wanna check it out? At stop signs or lights, I often look at the road sides thinking about the boards. The joys of WS!

This is kind of funny, because I just went on a motorcycle ride with my fiancé. We stopped at a little ice cream shop. While we were getting back on the bike, I noticed a spot behind the parking lot, and thought, "wow, I wonder if LE looks around here for missing persons. That looks like somewhere one might hide a body." And then I couldn't believe I thought that! I'm spending way too much time, here!

And another question related to one of yours, why did the husband go and check the park & ride and nearby area for her car? If she didn't show for work that day wouldn't he assume she was driving her car and had it with her wherever she was? It's not like she'd be at the park & ride all day. By finding her car there, he set the stage for where this search would begin....

Some killers dump their victims closeby so they can revisit the scene or some aspect of the crime. Sort of a visual "trophy" that they could drive by every day and relive events. Cheryl's body seems to have been hidden in plain sight, so to speak.

Clocks can easily be a few minutes off in one direction or another, so if she left at 7AM according to him, and texted at 7:02 ... /

Cell phone clocks are set via the local tower, which is synced with satellites - so they aren't off. That's why you never have to set the time on your own cellphone.

And the thing is her work badge is still at home along with her ORCA card, per her mother's confirmation on the facebook page, so it would be odd that she didn't turn around and go back home if she sent that text while driving.

It's logical to me that Cheryl would not have texted again at all since her friends knew that she was simply going to be ten minutes late. It's illegal (and dangerous) to text and drive, so if she got into her car there would have been no reason to text anything further. If she was planning on rushing home she likely wouldn't have lingered at traffic lights or stop signs to text back to her friends anyway. That is, if she was ever at the overflow parking lot to begin with that morning.

IF it was someone close to her that did this, then it makes sense to me where she was placed. That person would need to stage a believable scenario to explain how she went missing. It makes sense that they might craft a story around the wooded area where she parks each morning. There was a man assaulted there in January, reportedly.

So if this was staged, it was a very well thought out plan. One of the reasons I 'm on the fence about it being a close family member that did this, is because it seems almost too well crafted and planned out.

Yeah, just knowing two facts about the text--whether it was sent near her car and whether the text was a response to her friend or initiated on her side--would pretty clearly point to whether or not the perp was someone she knew well.

Super creepy! Mine isn't tracking me, though. I just checked. So it's possible that her settings are similar to mine. It's also possible that she keeps her location information turned on, though!

Just to be clear Cheryl was parked on the street near the library. I don't believe there is an overflow parking lot.
