None of us have remotely any information to effectively name a suspect. Or support any other possible scenarios.

Hopefully, the medical examiner and LE will divulge more information.

Looking to the self-inflicted injuries on two fingers - what is that about? It seems that Cheryl was a very intelligent, logical woman (given her role as a system analyst). Did she injure herself to leave clues about what happened? Is the blood in her vehicle hers, and did she deliberately leave blood on the passenger seat and interior passenger door to communicate that she was trapped in the passenger seat of her vehicle?

What can we understand from the self-inflicted injuries, and what message might she have wanted to communicate?

And I want to add, was she right handed and the cuts were found on two of her left hand fingers?
Was she left-handed and the cuts found on two of her right hand fingers?
Were the cuts on one finger on the left hand, one finger on the right?

If they knew they were self-inflicted, could they then deduce that it was her prominent hand that made the cuts?
Was there a knife or tool that was found, either in her car, or near her body?

Hi all I am very new to all this so please be gentle :) I live in MLT, in fact, my home is almost in the center of all three points of interest in this case! I work at a neighborhood grocery store where the whole family has shopped at one time or another, in fact I was made aware of the fact that Cheryl had gone missing on the Monday she went missing by a family member who was shopping for groceries! It was very sad and surreal to say the least. I mean I have smiled at her more than once and ran into her at various stores in our area! In regards to this whole insane sad mess is that she was the type of person who would help a stranger without thinking twice, give them her last dollar or the shirt off her back! She was loved and liked by all and would never hurt a fly or plan an evil plot, so I find it hard to believe she planned her own suicide or any insurance scamming plot! This type of crime is a new one for my community and I'm sure the LE is doing the best job he can while trying to ease the communities minds without throwing out TMI! That being said, in regards to them saying that the public has no reason to be worried or concerned and then retracking that to say the public needs to be aware of their surroundings and be watchful, careful and attentive! Walk with a purpose and carry your panic button! I spoke with a retired Seattle detective who shops at my store and he told me that they had to retract prior statement in order to #1- give the illusion that they are looking for someone even if they are not and #2- if there is a sicko killer on the loose and people are told not to worry and another person ends up with the same fate they won't be held liable! Yesterday I spoke with a local area policeman who told me he knows stuff but no matter how much I asked he could not tell me but what he did let loose was they have no POE they are not "looking" at any individuals in depth and he has not seen any alerts or be on the lookouts! Basically he told me they are really just waiting on the toxicology report end of story!! Which now brings me to the article I found on Sunday- let me know what you think :) has anyone else seen this? It is an article posted on the Herald.net Sunday Feb 21st in the opinion section and it is called- we must fund mental health? I really need any and all opinions on this cuz it seems I am the only one who found it?? Also when I mentioned it to the policeman he said really as in maybe she had mental health issues?? He walked away and said just keep alert it takes time????

Thank you for your info! Ii hypothesized a while ago that maybe they are warning people because they don't want to be held liable, but wasn't sure. Do you have mean POA and not POE? I think the community is worried and thinking it is murder, like all of us. That's what I think about the letter. If they aren't looking at anyone either they're not sure who it is or they are considering less strongly suicide. I really, really do not want to think Cheryl was mentally ill. :( I suppose mental illness could happen to anyone, but the blood in the car and body in culvert doesn't make sense to me.

Her mom and dad live in Lynnwood and she lived in MLT, I've worked at my store for a very long time so whoever was visiting the family in my area they would shop at my store. Hope that helps I really don't want to give personnel info so that's the best way to explain it ;)

hmm? i dont understand.

A lot of home-based businesses just employ the owner and will say "1-4" employees but only actually have 1-2 (owner, possibly spouse depending on type of business). My past businesses say the same info, but they've only employed me. I don't have any inside information about CD's business though so I guess it's possible.

when i looked it up on intelius or a similar site, it said that her and her husband were employed.

I wonder if they meant they spoke to someone who was visiting the family? Like a family member?

Personally, I think this has nothing to do with the whole ROK/PUA/MRA/redpill angle. If anything, it's distracting from the conversation about Cheryl and her untimely demise.

That's just MOO, etc...

I don't think a ROK-type group is involved either.
I only referenced the "Return of Kings" because of a theory/rumor that mentioned "multiple rape". I was just alluding to the fact that some men with violent ideas can and do meet up and so a collusion between two or more like-minded perps, while not probable, is possible.
Sorry, if this took the thread somewhere you deem inappropriate.

I think that letter was written from someone who is supposing that whomever harmed Cheryl (if there was a someone), they were mentally ill or on drugs.....because what other reason could there be if it was a stranger?

The writer is making some really big assumptions about this particular case to express her opinion that there needs to be more attention drawn to the treatment of mental illness.

By the way, welcome to WS! Great and informative first post. Kinda leads me back to my original gut feeling that this was a suicide. I keep going back and forth.

Not to pick apart your post. You have every right to your opinion that you don't want to think Cheryl was mentally ill.

There is such a stigma against mental illness.
Good people can have mental illness.
Yes, mental illness can happen to anyone.

You seem to try to be getting a discussion going from a social media rumor. There is no substantiation at all to what has been said. ITs just a bunch of mumbo jumbo by someone who appears to be unbalanced

I agree. It sounds like the writer is thinking whoever harmed Cheryl could have been mentally ill.

Interesting information for sure. It almost sounds as if something was divulged at the funeral, doesn't it ? I'm not sure sure when you got involved with this case, but way back on thread #1, I had a possible theory and profile I tossed out there. It was embraced by some and rejected by others. I'd be interested in knowing your take on it. I still think this is a pretty good possibility, with what little evidence we do know.

The most often asked question was, "What about the blood found in the car". That wasn't included in the original theory. My answer: It was possibly blood left at an earlier time, or, it may turn out to be blood from another source, such as a package of chicken or pork chops that got sat down in the seat at one time or another. The car was 28 years old-----plenty of possible sources during that time frame to explain blood being found. As far as I know, the blood was said to have been sent off for analyzing and it hasn't been confirmed to be hers one way or the other.

Thread #1----post #1011 (It is showing up on my page 51)

I've looked twice, and am not seeing\finding the 2/20 post. The Celebrate Cheryl DeBoer page comes up for me, and I've looked at all replies, so I must be doing something wrong.

BTW, steelman, I agree with your possible theory. I, too, think it quite possible she got in a vehicle with someone she thought she knew--maybe a coworker she wasn't close with, or an acquaintance of a family member, or friend of a friend type thing.

I know, I also said in the post "i suppose mental illness could happen to anyone". hell, i have anxiety and depression and thats a mental illness. i just hope she wasnt suffering from that and find it hard that she could keep such a thing from her family.

That was indeed a letter to the editor. I receive the Herald (the paper version :) ) and recall reading it.

It is directly under the picture of her holding the infant, and before you get to the pic of the candles.
