I still can't get past the possibility that CD had alternate plans that morning. Call me crazy, but I believe she left the badge at home on purpose. Parked close, but not exactly where she normally parked. IMO she sent the texts herself - Paraphrasing "forgot my badge, go without me", "it will take 10 minutes, I might ride home with you" and when she gets the "I will wait for you" text she's like - stop asking so many questions and powers her phone off. I think she willing got into a car with someone else and things turned bad from there. I think the cuts on her fingers are from a broken smart phone that may have been dropped and struggled over.
There are just too many coincidences for me:
-forgot her badge
-drove a different vehicle that morning
-dismissed her normal ride
-found deceased
Random doesn't work for me, but I do believe the family is innocent.
One more thing I have wondered - who normally left home first, CD or her husband? or did they normally leave at the same time and CD was "running late" that morning? Unless CD normally left after her husband, that is yet another "coincidence".
JMO MOO.....
Forgive me if this has been covered previously. Was the person CD was meeting to "carpool" a male or female? How long have they carpooled together? Were there others in that carpool group? Perhaps with a car that CD would have been comfortable getting into as well? Perhaps someone who CD was comfortable with?

She didn't actually need to leave her badge at home to text her ride that she had. In fact, the fact that she did indeed leave her badge at home suggests that she did indeed send the text.
What evidence do you have that she drove a different vehicle? This was rumored earlier on but I believe it has been debunked.
As a courtesy to the carpool, she offered to take the bus so as not to delay them. They offered to wait and I believe Cheryl would have gone home, got her badge, and carpooled to work if something hadn't happened.
That leaves only the found deceased for me and probably random.
i believe it was a long time, years old carpool group. i considered what youre considering, but it seems the family and police isnt suspicious of it. they probably went on to work.

I do not see some random attacker/car jacker/thief bothering to text pretending to be her. More likely he would just steal phone too. I also do not believe she left blood/cut herself on purpose, to leave evidence. I doubt very that if she was being attacked, such an opportunity would arise. It is not that easy to draw blood unless she had a knife.
Do we know if her purse was found?
I am keeping a completely open mind as to what happened, i.e murder, suicide. Just can't tell. Jmo
Do you have a source for this? It sounds like coming from sm or comments.

In the press conference Pickard himself mentions about a carpool situation on going for years.

For me, the only abnormal thing is that she forgot her badge and this may have created the opportunity for some creep to take advantage of the situation.
Purse and phone have not been found.
pretty sure carpool people didnt do it, especially since its a group. how many groups kill someone? not that many, its usually a single person who commits murders and other vicious crimes. i mean why would anyone in the carpool group do this now all of a sudden after years? doesnt seem likely to me. im sure people at work would notice someone missing and be saying something on social media.
that reminds me of something like that that happened in vancouver, washington. a kid's hat blew off in a lake, someone went to retrieve it, then they drowned.Your last comment about Cheryl forgetting her badge which may have created an opportunity for some creep to take advantage of the situation...
This reminds me of a person that I knew.
He wore a hat, and the wind blew his hat across the street. He went to retrieve his hat and was hit by a car and died.
The unfortunate circumstance of wearing that straw hat on a windy day. I don't recall if he was walking on the sidewalk or just got out of his car.
Maybe Cheryl was unfortunate to have left her badge at home on the wrong day, time, and place...
It's sad!
IMOO.

I wasn't aware that her purse was still missing.
Could she have been mugged on the path? Maybe she left the car, sent her texts either while in her car or as she left it. Started walking through the park area and a purse snatching went crazy.
How far away was the culvert? I don't have time to retrace to find that information.
Could she have been mugged, a simple robbery gone bad and dumped in the culvert?
why would she walk through the park area after telling them it would take her ten minutes to go home to retrieve it? i do think she could have been mugged and robbery gone bad. other theories people have posted seem plausible, too. the culverts like a mile away i think? would take around 30 minutes walking time, drive time, a few minutes.
