The last MSN report that I read quoted LE as saying they were looking at this as homicide but had not ruled out anything.
So, I believe at the moment anything is a possibility.
It seems that little information is being leaked.
The public were told to be diligent but also told they were not at unusual risk.
Don't know much more today than the day Cheryl was found

It's highly unlikely, in my opinion, that she'd hide these items if it was suicide, but people do strange things sometimes. Remember the young woman who committed suicide in her car (in a parking lot I think) but left her purse on the front porch?

I tend to agree.
If someone is so distraught that they are suicidal, I doubt they would spend the time hiding a handbag. Why would it matter? Leaving it at home, yes....

Great point. LE did check and there was nothing used
It was Cheryl, and only Cheryl they wanted.

So why take her things? I understand disposing of a phone, possible communication, although LE will get that from records, but why take her bag?

I guess it all depends on whether you believe Cheryl was stocked or if this was a random act.
I personally haven't formed an opinion.
I don't know what the heck happened to this lady

Because they could...

Is it possible, badge or no badge, text message/no text message, Cheryl would have suffered the same fate?

I think so. I think this was a crime of opportunity, and poor Cheryl happened to be there. It could have been for robbery, or sexual assault, or both. I also think that no debit or credit cards have been used is because whomever did this knew they could be traced and wanted cash.
IMO of course.

Why wouldn't they use any of it? What's the point of taking it if not to use it?

Someone sees a purse, picks it up, has no intention of using anything from it, but knows that they just touched someone else's property, they want to get rid of it. I could see jr. high/high school kids doing this and thinking 'oh ****, we shouldn't have touched it'!

I find this unsettling - period.

For some reason I can't quote, but this is in reply to post #169.
LE says a lot of things for a lot of reasons. They might already have a suspect in custody that they haven't been able to link yet. Or maybe thet have someone under surveillance. In either scenario, the public wouldn't be in danger.
IMO of course.

To Mrs. Gladys Kravitz: I understand, but use it as a 'wake up call' to be more careful, no matter where we are. I had an uncomfortable episode in Lynnwood, I know a man was following me in the parking lot (broad daylight)…what he did not know was that my son and I were together, but had split up in the store and were meeting by his car. The guy took off, as soon as it was apparent I was meeting someone!

As an aside…I now carry pepper spray in my purse.

Nothing was used, meaning the phone right? I think they can swap the sim and no one would ever be able to tell if it was used or not??

I would think..hope .. that if both lab results were back AND analyzed AND ME ruled COD as suicide, they would have announced COD as suicide already ratjer than holding that back from the public knowing some are walking in fear. Maybe still waiting on lab results?
What do you all think?

Yes, the tox reports were not in when the last article was posted.
It stated that the ME was waiting for the tox reports
And it could be several weeks

The medical examiner says it will be several more weeks until they receive the toxicology report which will help them determine the cause and manner of death.

Ideas..Maybe it had perps DNA on it. (Maybe not).

Maybe perp held weapon at her to get her to cooperate and she already had purse in hand and appeared more natural walking away with perp having the purse instead of tossing it (if that even happened). Helps make it look more natural I think if you are trying to force someone to cooperate without gaining attention.

Mayybe she got in a car with someone thinking they were going to drive her back to get her badge and she would therefore take it with her (maybe not). Yes..the blood you ask..hmm..coulda been there before getting into another vehicle.

..just ideas ![emoji6]

If theybare only a suspect in custody for questioning and not officially charged, the public could still be in danger.

If they were in custody over evidence and are charging him, I agree.

Someone under surveilance would be under surveillance because there is no evidence to arrest and charge him/her at that point.

If they have solid evidence they will not let them continue wandering the streets. If he/she is only under surveillance it is always poss he/she is not the perp..or obviously could be as well but under suspicion with not enough evidence to arrest. But until there is evidence to arrest it is only a suspicion and perp could still be out there.

Right, I believe there are no phone records recorded to the existing account if the sim is switched..swith a sim you can call another phone co to get service and you can switch phone numbers too ..so there will be no recording of phone use in that exisiting account..

However...if the phone company records the phones MAC address and it is turned on and used..but then how many phone companies would need to monitor for the phones MAC address to be used next [emoji17]

And then on top of that MACs can be spoofed [emoji30]
