It depends on where the gun was found, and what other evidence was accumulated. If there isn't enough evidence to support suicide, the ME will rule it undetermined.

My observation is that the text message, the self inflicted wounds, the walk away from the car, the bag/culvert fit a pattern that matches a lot of suicides. Are they enough by themselves, and with no evidence of another person being in contact with her, to make a determination? That's really up the ME. I've seen suicide rulings with about as little "direct" evidence of suicide, no homicide evidence, and the only "suicidal motivation" that they were "upset". At some point the ME just has to make a call; many get left as undetermined.

But, it's unclear still about the text message and the "walk" away from the car.

Dear WS fellows, this very moment I am feeling this place as a brotherhood. And I am in tears. Honest and literally in tears. For Cheryl, for her son and all her family, for the fellow poster INMYHUMBLEOPINION... to be here is sometimes very deep and very strong to bear.
I wish I could do something more than to sincerily saying I am so sorry...

It is midnight here in my land. I will go and try to sçeep and would be helpful to dream of a world full os us all happy, joyful and loving.

Good night you all.

Stryker57, inmyhumbleopinion and all of you who care, accept my tight and felt hug :heartbeat:

I don't know why they are with holding toxicology reports. They told us results last week what the results were.

SBM and BBM: Toxicology reports are not back yet, correct?

ETA: Please understand I am not suggesting ANYTHING here, just want to make sure we don't misreport anything here and folks run with it as fact.

They are but I was making an assumption as to what the results are... they have not been released publicly.

But what about the water in her lungs? I am going to assume here that LE did the standard testing of the water to be sure it was consistent with the water in the culvert.

That would have to be a part of their planning. When I think about it I'm not certain this could be accomplished after death because getting into that culvert may have caused some cuts and scrapes. Those will be recognizable as being caused before death just as the water would have to be there before death to cause drowning.

This is my first post here although I have been reading these threads for weeks.

Stryker57 and lavaland - my deepest sympathies. I can't even imagine your pain. The people of this city - and many others beyond its borders - are surrounding you with peace and we will not let the police rest until they get you the answers you deserve. I'm so sorry.

Please forgive me if this has already been asked but I have a nagging question - did the police find Cheryl's eyeglasses when they found her? I have several thoughts about what might happen to my own glasses in the different "manner" scenarios.

It just dawned on me how the cops are going to claim she got from the park-and-ride to the culvert without being seen. It was right in front of me the whole time and I never thought of it.

She asked a stranger for a ride that morning.........down to the "general vicinity" of the culvert.

This person either never came forward or doesn't realize who she gave a ride to. I say "she", because I imagine Cheryl would have felt safer riding with a strange female versus a strange male. Of course, safety would have been her ultimate concern as she was making her way down to a flooded culvert in order to kill herself.

That's going to be their answer on how she got there...............sit and watch.

Some are theorizing that the animal blood in the car could be leaked blood from thawing meat, etc. but doesn't blood vs meat juices/blood look dramatically different from each other? I dont see how one could be mistaken for the other. Jmo.

I think LE is up against immense pressure now to prove and support their case of suicide due to the obvious public response. I'm glad to hear the case is still open and they are still processing, examining evidence, etc, and that they will be in touch with Cheryl's family.

(O/T, I wonder how many suicides have been later changed to homicides, statistically.)

From David Rose Q13 News via his Facebook:

"My colleague, Brandi Kruse, talked with Mountlake Terrace Police Chief Greg Wilson this morning to get some clarification on the lack of evidence to suggest a homicide in Cheryl DeBoer's case. He says there were no defensive wounds. Her car was locked and secured. Her clothes were intact and not disheveled. No tips have come in that offer any insight into her death that would suggest it was a homicide. No physical evidence or lack of evidence that would support “robbery, assault, or abduction.” There is no evidence she was restrained. “You have to put emotions aside. That’s difficult for the community. It’s difficult for the family," said Chief Wilson who added “As with any case like this, we’re going to take a methodical approach in our investigation." Several crime labs are assisting in analyzing evidence including the plastic bag, her car, computer and phone records. The Chief says it would be premature to rule on manner of death before those labs are done analyzing that evidence."

This would then indicate, TO ME, MOO!! that it was someone close to her..not expected to be harmed from the person at all. Plan, carry out, little to no blood to worry about, no odd/foreign fibers or hair to worry about, knew her routine...Well to me it makes perfect sense.

I read that it was a fresh water drowning.

When they administer testing, do they test the water in the lungs specifically to find out that it was fresh water from the culvert? Could it have been tap water? I know they said fresh water, so did they analyze the compounds in the water itself to distinguish between the culvert water and say water in your faucet?
Or do they surmise it is fresh water because that is where her body was found?

IMOO.

There would be microbes in the culvert water that would not be in tap water or swimming pool water and yes, the CSI team would take a sample of the culvert water.

The "walk away from the car" ? I don't believe that there is ANY evidence of her walking away from her car.

I saw the posts and now can't find them to quote...

Correct me if I am misquoting/misstating

Stryker said...He wasn't sure why the tox hasn't been released publicly as they have known for a week.

It was posted by Cheryl's mom that nothing was found in the tox report, I do realize this is not 'fact' as it is not on MSM.

It was said that, http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...ace-8-February-2016-5&p=12426516#post12426516 Eclipsed posted it from the reporter, are waiting on the tox report to rule accidental or suicide. so.........if nothing is in her tox report, she ACCIDENTALLY got a bag over her head and drowned? or if something is found, then she did it on purpose?

Does the small amount of water found in her lungs constitute drowning?

And how are LE so sure she started out above the culvert?

True and there isn't any evidence she was even in her car that morning (unless that is being held from the public as well).

  • #1,118
Stryker do you know if anyone did door to door canvassing to see about security cameras at private residences? Or on the route she might have taken from the car to the culvert?

Maybe we should organize one! Walk the different routes and ask if anyone has cameras. The problem is the longer they wait the less likely people will still have it saved on the hard drive of the system.

I guess MLT LE only declares a death to be a murder if they are called to a bloody scene and find a victim with wounds that could not possibly have been self-inflicted. Gosh, that must really bug them because they have to do some real police work. Otherwise, they are all "we dunno so we will call it undetermined and close this investigation".

If you want to get away with murder, take your victim to MLT, wrap their head in a bag and drop them in a culvert. LE will be befuddled and give up on the investigation in a few short weeks.

I am infuriated and feel so sorry for Mrs. DeBoer's family.
