It does appear according to books on the subject that a person could smother someone and then place a bag over the head making it appear to be a suicide and or the medical examiner may have problems determining the difference on autopsy. Just Saying...

It could take investigators up to two or three months to compile all evidence, such as from cellphone records, to determine precisely what happened before DeBoer died, Wilson said.

“It’s difficult for all family and friends. They’re certainly struggling,” he said. “We’re not going to make any decisions, or close out this case, until we thoroughly and methodically do everything we can.”

It seems as of last week, this is still very much an ongoing investigation

I wonder if all these missing items were dropped down a storm drain? If we assume her plan was getting to the culvert, maybe the storm drains on the way made her think thats where i want to put the little items.

I can see it work with a sleeping person, but not with a person awake and alert.

Thank you! From your link:

For example, a technician in Spokane who is analyzing blood evidence is on leave through the end of March.

you would think they would either have someone else come in and test or send it to another lab

If you look at Stryker's posts, you will see that he said the blood was initially tested, came back inconclusive as to what type of animal and was to be tested further.
Tomorrow is the end of the month...

I wonder how many killers know this and thus use it to their advantage ???

More than we realize. It depends on how much planning a killer has done, their motivation, luck and how skilled and persistent LE investigators are.

The Rebecca Zahau case is a good example.

This is what I am leaning toward as well.

Me too - when the person responsible for testing returns this week and continues with testing...... I think we will realize that all of those pages regarding blood were a result of an inaccurate term being used. I will go out on a limb and further speculate that the matter under review has nothing to do with CDs death.

Or force them under water ?

I will join you on that limb.

This is so true. I had carpeting shampooed recently, which left it barely damp. But it still took considerable time to dry completely. (I live just outside MLT,)
The coagulation of blood once it is outside the body is an active process involving over 30 clotting proteins and platelets and it is much different that blood just drying out. The clotting cascade starts immediately after the blood is outside of the endothelium (this is why we don't normally have clotted blood in our veins with the exception of some diseases). The blood without preservatives, usually clots in 6-10 minutes and this clotting cascade is activated regardless of temperature or humidity.

If the blood is confirmed to be from a cow, a squirrel, or a hamster, how does that factor in the question of whether Cheryl was murdered? It still comes down to who put the blood in her car. There is no animal, so either someone put an animal in the car, took it out of the car, and then murdered Cheryl, or Cheryl put some sort of animal based blood material on the foot board of her car passenger seat.

If the blood is from a cow, or wild game, can we assume that Cheryl's raw food diet was so raw that the animal had not yet been properly "cleaned"? Where did that raw meat come from? If the blood is from a squirrel or a hamster, how does that advance the understanding of whether it was murder or suicide?

Blood that contains a preservative - how long does it take for that blood to coagulate?

Or force them under water ?

If she asphyxiated and drowned, then she was still breathing under water. Does that mean she was conscious?

If someone breathes deep in a fast food plastic bag, passes out, and lands in a 2-3 foot deep cold creek, is that cold water enough to snap that person out of the stupor, or does that person breath water and drown?

I honestly don't know...

Suicide: that is such a beautiful river, so fjord-like (rapid, dangerous water), so inviting at the same time.

Let's put aside the bag right now.

Any of our rivers or creeks are cold enough that you can get cold shock response, which causes involuntarily inhalation of water. And you die. You never make it to the hypothermia stage. If the water is cold enough, even 2-3ft, this could happen, providing your face/body is in the water. I posted a link about this earlier.

Now add a bag over your head, I doubt it helps the situation.
