I think she's mentally ill, with delusions of grandiosity (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grandiose_delusions). Look at the selfies she took of herself in this article:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...parents-convincing-community-black-years.html

Who, in their "36th year", does this?

And all the lies she told...ostensibly to "build herself up" -- lived in a teepee, hunted for food with a bow and arrow, passing off AA children her parents adopted as her own children, and a black man as her dad...claiming her dad is really her stepdad.

How she got to be a university professor is both alarming and appalling.

Was involved in the AKC Dog show world long time ago and there were occasions where questions were brought up with claims that a winning dog was not a pure breed. These shows and titles are very serious and worth a lot of money for the winning dogs. Sometimes proof of purity of breed was required and a DNA test was done by a qualified vet to prove if the dog was a pure breed. DNA tests are also used to find out people's ancestry. I don't think she is going to be willing to back up her claims, JMO.

There are all kinds of ways to change the texture of hair. To me it looks like a perm. Amazing that she could pass herself as biracial by simply changing her hair.

Hey I grew up during the Afro days. Anyone can get their hair done in an Afro. It was a very popular do at the time.

Per her parents, she also claimed her adopted brother was her son.

The Daily Mail story (above) as usual has a wealth of supporting detail. She appears to be a well-educated scam artist.

I think perm. She died it too.

Looks like she's been to a tanning salon or two.
Photos of her as a teenager show very blond, fair skinned woman with freckles.

Anyone can be a civil rights activist and there are many civil rights. But in the job description for NAACP positions, is being a certain percentage of Black African required? I really don't know. I can say I would assume a person working there is black, but is it a requirement? It sounds like she lied to get scholarship money. Are their other crimes she committed by lying about her race?
To me, if I looked at a picture of her without any story, I believe her by appearance to be Caucasian.

'NAACP Spokane Washington Branch President Rachel Dolezal is enduring a legal issue with her family, and we respect her privacy in this matter. One's racial identity is not a qualifying criteria or disqualifying standard for NAACP leadership. The NAACP Alaska-Oregon-Washington State Conference stands behind Ms. Dolezal's advocacy record.

'In every corner of this country, the NAACP remains committed to securing political, educational, and economic justice for all people, and we encourage Americans of all stripes to become members and serve as leaders in our organization.

'Hate language sent through mail and social media along with credible threats continue to be a serious issue for our units in the Pacific Northwest and across the nation. We take all threats seriously and encourage the FBI and the Department of Justice to fully investigate each occurrence.' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...parents-convincing-community-black-years.html

I'm pretty sure she will have to resign however. Because while being white doesn't preclude her position, committing fraud and lying to police, etc., must.

I laughed at first reading about this because it's so odd, but she's mad. And her life is totally over.

Per her parents, she also claimed her adopted brother was her son.

I was hoping she didn't have any real kids. What's sad is, she does. A biracial son from her ex husband. How confusing must this be to him! All along his mother is claiming the kind of discrimination and racism that her son will actually likely have to face but she's just making it up. It's such a bizarre fraud that belittles the experiences of people who do feel the effects of racism. Like her own kid.

This is a betrayal really.

I just saw a quick report on CNN< so no link just yet.

But the reporter interviewed her landlord, who rented out a little apartment on his property to her. And reportedly he is an avid hunter. As such, he had a rope, a noose, out on his back property, which he used when he dressed game after a hunt.

The landlord said that she KNEW what the rope was for. But she still called LE and reported it as a 'hate crime' against her because of her race. :waitasec:

She taught at the university in " Africana" studies. Can the university sue her for the salary they paid her ? This lady is going to be in all kinds of law suits ! I'm curious as to how this came out. Did her parents know she was doing this all this time? Did they have a falling out and decide to not keep her secret any more? Or did they just find out and are trying to set the record straight?

In a statement on Friday, the N.A.A.C.P. said, “The N.A.A.C.P. Alaska-Oregon-Washington State Conference stands behind Ms. Dolezal’s advocacy record,” noting that “one’s racial identity is not a qualifying criteria or disqualifying standard for N.A.A.C.P. leadership.”

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/13/u...ent-accused-of-lying-about-her-race.html?_r=0

The group also said that Ms. Dolezal was “enduring a legal issue with her family, and we respect her privacy in this matter.”

The Spokesman-Review has credited Ms. Dolezal with re-energizing the Spokane chapter of the N.A.A.C.P. since being elected in 2014.

Someone investigated recently and asked them. They told the truth. I imagine they feel bad that she has become estranged from them in order to hide her identity. I also imagine there is friction because their son is estranged now as well and lives with her. (Both of which make me wonder about her childhood and parents, though I won't excuse this nonsense. Zero reason to lie about this.).

Man. This could all end very badly for her. She will be investigated by various agencies for fraud. She will be let go from the university. She will be pressured by the NAACP to resign. She will quickly become a total laughing stock and dismissed as a lunatic. Lying about racism while pretending to be black seriously hurts the cause of anti-oppression. She is going to be so hated. Her life has been destroyed by her dishonesty.

I saw an interview with her parents. They seem sad and worried about her. They adopted four African American kids. Rachel attended Howard University. And Rachel married a black man, and they had a son together. So they always knew she had a huge interest in civil rights, black studies etc.

But it was only within the past 2 years that she totally began to live a lie. Even though she grew up locally and has friends and family nearby. And the last straw for the parents was when Rachel put up a photo of a back man she met through work, and called him 'her father.' That was when they reached out to her, but were rebuffed. They were also concerned because she claimed to have been beaten by 'her parents' because her skin color. And that is not true, according to them.
