Dolezel, who resigned her post as NAACP chapter president Monday amid controversy that she is a white woman pretending to be black, will sit down for a live interview with Matt Lauer on NBC's Today on Tuesday to give her first comments since the flap.

She will also take part in separate interviews with NBC Nightly News' Savannah Guthrie, MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry and NBCBLK, the network's African-American online vertical.
==============================================================================

Oh no, Melissa Harris Perry. She already claimed that RD was just like a new version of trans-sexual, just transracial instead. Most people were saying that as a joke. But Melissa is for real about it.

Regarding which news outlet leaked the story initially, krem.com gave credit to Maureen Dolan from the Coeur d'Alene press for beginning the story. Dolan had done previous stories on RD when she was working @ HREi and watched her transform into her blackish persona over the years. In some of those articles from the past alleged hate crimes, people commented on her being a White woman yet claimed hate crimes foe being black.

When RD made this latest allegation of yet another hate crime, there being no evidence of foul play and questions surrounding whether RD could have placed the letter in the mailbox, other news stations picked up the story.

In recent news krem is now reporting EWU has removed her bio from their website. Her contract to teach part time AFricana studies classes naturally expired last Friday.

There is a rally tonight at the NAACP in downtown Spokane tonight

That will be so ironic if there is a protest against her tonight. Or is it in support of her?

Threats to Spokane NAACP President spark rally

At some point, her supporters will figure out that there was no hate mail and that the only person terrorizing the community is Rachel (no evidence that it was her, no evidence that it was not her ... yet).

You can do root touch ups.

Dang, I wish I'd discover that sooner! But, hey, I don't have spare cash to spend on beauty products! How does she afford all this? The fakery must have cost her a fortune!

I want to be a transfinancial.

I hereby beget Bill Gates as your father! :princes: You are now a millionaire.

The hubris of this woman! She has managed to pull off something that has never been done or seen before; the equivalent could only be perhaps a mythical unicorn sighting. She has claimed racial discrimination because she was white, racial discrimination because she was black, discrimination because she has a family and last but not least being pregnant while female. Not to mention being relentlessly stalked and threatened (by herself IMO). Have I missed anything?

There are some brilliant posts in this thread, by the way!

I think this is an old story maybe February or March when she first alleged hate mail in the NAACP mailbox. At that time police were looking into everything trying to find the perpetrator, RD was pictured marching arm and arm with people at the rally.

Since then LEO have announced they will no longer investigate this as it appears to be unfounded. Ther is a March planned for tonight (originally a protest to ask for her to step down) and the NAACP meeting is still going to happen despite RD trying to cancel it over the weekend.

There are pictures of Her at the airport today after she stepped down. There was supposed to be a status hearing today (in montana?) regarding the legal case of her older brother sexually abusing a child. I suspect she was heading to that court hearing this morning hence the airport photos.

How do I know this woman plagiarized the artwork of others ... it's that obvious. Common sense doesn't need a courtroom.

"Rachel Dolezal's Artwork Is Not Only Problematic, It Might Be Plagiarized

Aside from the glaring issues of cultural appropriation and deceit rooted in the images, there also appears to be some plagiarism involved. Twitter user Jolie Adams recently juxtaposed one of Dolezal's acrylic paintings titled "The Shape of Our Kind" with J.M.W. Turner's 1840 work "The Slave Ship." As you can see, the works are nearly identical."

I'd love to know if she ever paid the $2728.50 legal costs reimbursement to Howard University? Because I'm betting she never did.

A judge tossed out the lawsuit after finding no evidence that Dolezal, who later became president of the Spokane, Washington, NAACP chapter, had been a victim of racial discrimination. The ruling was later upheld by the D.C. Court of Appeals, Smoking Gun reports. Dolezal was ordered to reimburse Howard University $2,728.50 in legal costs.

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/rachel-dolezal-once-sued-for-racial-discrimination/ar-BBlbt9Q

Here's the original Smoking Gun article:

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/documents/bizarre/rachel-dolezal-discrimination-lawsuit-786451

Following the dismissal of Dolezal’s lawsuit (and the Court of Appeals decision), she was ordered to reimburse Howard for a “Bill of Costs” totaling $2728.50. During the case, she was also ordered to pay the university nearly $1000 in connection with an “obstructive and vexatious” court filing that sought to improperly delay her examination by an independent doctor.

Dolezal’s lawsuit, included “claims for medical and emotional distress damages,” according to a court docket. (5 pages)

So she actually was ordered to pay $3728.50, according to this.

I bet she never paid a single penny of it.

Snoods, I just tripped across a tweet on the same timeline of the person who helped reveal the art plagiarism - and saw this:

Jolie Adams (@Jolieishere) tweeted at 4:47pm - 15 Jun 15:

I'm a bit behind on the threads so I must have missed this.
I literally almost fell out of my chair.
Unbelievable.

I will leave the brilliant analysis to my fellow WSers.

Donjeta-- absolutely brilliant post #493!! Post of the day!!

Geez-- Rachel Donezal is a piece of work in her own, special little category.

And, in closing, I want to say to all of you, that I am proud and humbled to carry the burden-- YOUR burden, and be the voice of the ENTIRE human race, when I post here at Websleuths. I willingly shoulder this burden for cosmic justice for extraterrestrials, as well. And audio animatronic transbiological beings. And muppets, who are not accepted by the puppet community, nor are accepted by marionettes. I speak for these disenfranchised beings as well. Because somebody has to be willing to step up and further the dialogue. (Just don't anyone tell Tricia.....)

I'm not quitting this post, I'm just limiting the length. And despite what you all think, the color of my keyboard does not represent which operating system I choose to identify with. That's my personal business. :takeabow:

:silly:

:ufo:

OMG I'm crying! :laughcry:

Body of the article says Target. Caption under the photo says Walmart.
That said, she could very well be re-using the same dress she had on during the interview.
Most regular people don't have unlimited wardrobe to wear a different dress every day.

A smiling Rachel Dolezal is pictured for the first time walking out of a Walmart store just hours after she stepped down as the president of the Spokane chapter of the NAACP

You are correct. The DMUK stated under that low-cut dress picture, where she is clearly carrying a Target bag, that she is leaving a WalMart.

So credibility, you know. But I usually am a DM defender. They are tabloid-y but usually pretty spot on if you forgive grammar and spelling. This time, not so much.

otto, painting works based on those of the masters is quite common in the art world. In fact, copying is a prime way of learning and there's a cottage industry of "copyists" who make copies of classics for people to hang over their sofas.

Have we seen any example other than the piece which, as you point out, is obviously based on the Turner? Because the copyright on the Turner has expired by now (if, in fact, there ever was copyright protection on a painting from that era) and, legally at least, she has every right to base her painting on his.

I think we need a few more examples before we brand her a plagierist as well as a liar and a kook.

I was watching "The Wendy Williams Show" this morning and she addressed this firestorm surrounding RD. She is fascinated by it and she stated that "black knows black" and that she could see how RD could pass for black if she presented herself that way. What WW could not understand was "why"?

If RD had pursued this career in AA studies and felt she could only be taken seriously if she were AA, that I can kinda understand. Where she did a huge disservice to the AA community IMO, was making all those false reports of hate crimes.

IMO, most of us go through a struggle of discovering who we really are and our true selves when we are teens and young adults. We evolve over time and hopefully find our own truth. It would be interesting to hear why she chose this path if she were to be truthful. However, IMO, I don't see her being truthful, which is a shame.

If she had chosen to advocate for the AA community as a white person, would she have been taken as seriously as if she were AA? I don't know. Is what she has done an insult to the AA community or harmed anyone besides herself? I don't know the answer to that either.

Excellent post, Zuri. I think the primary harm is that her story plays into the perception of some that people of color who avail themselves of racial preferences do so fraudulently. She is, of course, the oddest of oddballs, but to those looking for an excuse to disparage the entire concept of affirmative action or hate crimes, she stands as "proof" that such laws are bogus.

Dang, I wish I'd discover that sooner! But, hey, I don't have spare cash to spend on beauty products! How does she afford all this? The fakery must have cost her a fortune!

I started doing my own hair about 10 years ago. I don't cut it, but I do my own multi-tonal blonde high- and low-lights. It takes quite a lot of time every 4 weeks or so, but $$ wise, not so much.

I buy my professional colors, developers and bleach powder from Sally Beauty. It costs about $12 a month for the products. Not including conditioners and hair masques.

But heckuva lot cheaper than when I paid $250 a month at a top salon for my "natural" blonde.

I still go to a salon for my cuts, though and always get complimented on my "gorgeous" color. ;)

I learned most of it from the interwebz. It's like cooking. If you can read, you can do.

How many people that use the masters to learn to paint then turn around, re-title and sign the copy, and promote the idea that the work is original? Surely art school teaches the difference between creating art and imitating art. She plagiarized the painting and the proof is her signature beneath the copy of Turner's painting.

There is no doubt that she is a liar. First she sued Howard for discrimination because she is all white, then she claimed that her father is black. One of those statements is a lie. QED

I was reading on a predominately AA forum (and they never use AA on there, but Black) and the general (but not unanimous) censensus seems to be that there are far too many black people (especially BM, not as much BW) "caping" for RD and it's white people that are the ones getting so angry about this.

Also, while it would have been preferable to pursue her interest in black studies while being her genuine self (or even adopting the look, without lying about her ethnicity), I do think she would have been met with a ton of opposition. But it is what it is. I expect black people feel that way most of the time, quite frankly.

Again, I have no issue with RD self-identifying as black, or even changing her look. I have tried about every look there is depending on what I am currently "in love with".

But I do agree it was wrong to actually lie and say she was "black", even though I still assert that humans are one race biologically, and she was lying about a cultural "race" rather than a biological one.

Still, we live in the world of the "one-drop rule" and as odious as I find that, it is generally accepted by people of all skin tones, so majority rules....

I;m seeing tons of black people just utterly outraged by this all over the internet. It was member sof the NAACP in her town that were demanding her resignation.

Her vast array of Life Relevant Skills includes Mental Health, Creative Writing, Creative Problem Solving and Facebooking.

Besides all her other remarkable accomplishments, she is also a sushi chef, a legal secretary, a ballet dancer and a model.

She has taught arts, math, history, diversity, biology and piano. Her anatomy expertise that she gained from drawing humans and the two days experience of subbing in the biology class of disinterested middle schoolers uniquely qualify her for graduating from medical school without ever attending one.

At Howard University she excelled in:

All this while being racially discriminated against, no less.

No, wait, that's not what she did. She is a professor...

Because everyone thinks the master artist didn't write this herself.

When she works while studying it's not to get more money, it's because she is a socially conscious feminist.

Oh my goodness! Just zero shame! What a piece of work.

She is inauthentic in all she is and does.

Going by what DM says:

The latter pic has a DM watermark and the confrontation was a KXLY reporter.

IDK.

I guess she was just wearing the same dress. hard to believe she'd be walking around anywhere and not totally hiding.

Does anyone else think she actually looks more attractive as a fake black woman. (Don't shoot!)

I just think her hair is cute and flatters her rather round face more than her lank dishwater hair in a flat ponytail. I really like that style and wish I had curly hair. (Ducks for cover)

Yes. I totally do!

There are great things to come:

I received a grade for my pen-and-ink interpretation of Duhrer's "Young Hare". Granted I was 17, and the work not very good. But I had a teacher who thought it was, and to this day it is framed in my home. Compared to the real thing, it is total crap.

But I am still proud of it....lol, it is very sad next to the original....
