It appears she is fresh from the tanning bed in this picture; you can see the white around her eyes from the protective eye goggles worn. IMO.

Now, to me, she looks whiter (ethnically speaking, not skin-tone wise) than in most other pics. There, she looks like a white girl with a fake tan.

In other pics, she looks very much like a light-skinned BW, and frankly, I just LOVE her curly spirals and think that hair is very flattering on her. Her nose actually looks a bit like mine did when I was preggers and my friend who is black asked me "are you sure you aren't a little bit sister?". I was all "WHAT?" but during my pregnancy, my nose has grown broader, more like the nose of a person of African descent, and my friend totally noticed it, although I had not!

But those pics of white Rachel....I can see my "pregnancy nose".....i think it may have helped in her "passing".

If she's been tanning her freckled face for the last 10 years, she's on the short list for skin cancer.

Meh, so am I. But I don't smoke, drink or eat crap. So tanning is my one vice. I get sick of my smoker, drinker friends telling me how I am going to die of cancer. I can run a 10k. They can't walk through a parking lot. So, yeah.

I am not sure when tanning became worse than heroin, but it really does get old.

Thanks for the comic relief!
Donjeta-- absolutely brilliant post #493!! Post of the day!!

Geez-- Rachel Donezal is a piece of work in her own, special little category.

And, in closing, I want to say to all of you, that I am proud and humbled to carry the burden-- YOUR burden, and be the voice of the ENTIRE human race, when I post here at Websleuths. I willingly shoulder this burden for cosmic justice for extraterrestrials, as well. And audio animatronic transbiological beings. And muppets, who are not accepted by the puppet community, nor are accepted by marionettes. I speak for these disenfranchised beings as well. Because somebody has to be willing to step up and further the dialogue. (Just don't anyone tell Tricia.....)

I'm not quitting this post, I'm just limiting the length. And despite what you all think, the color of my keyboard does not represent which operating system I choose to identify with. That's my personal business. :takeabow:

:silly:

At some point, her supporters will figure out that there was no hate mail and that the only person terrorizing the community is Rachel (no evidence that it was her, no evidence that it was not her ... yet).

At this point I don't think she has any real supporters.

RBBM:
Snoods, I just tripped across a tweet on the same timeline of the person who helped reveal the art plagiarism - and saw this:

Jolie Adams (@Jolieishere) tweeted at 4:47pm - 15 Jun 15:
@******** -she knows she's White: 1) suing Howard U for anti-White discrimination in '02 (& losing) & 2) telling bros not to reveal fact
(https://twitter.com/Jolieishere/status/610594442899292160?s=17)

I'm a bit behind on the threads so I must have missed this.
I literally almost fell out of my chair.
Unbelievable.

I will leave the brilliant analysis to my fellow WSers.

Yeah, I hope someone from the stations that interview her bring that up. Do they know about it? Because she can;t claim transracialism with that on her record.

otto, painting works based on those of the masters is quite common in the art world. In fact, copying is a prime way of learning and there's a cottage industry of "copyists" who make copies of classics for people to hang over their sofas.

Have we seen any example other than the piece which, as you point out, is obviously based on the Turner? Because the copyright on the Turner has expired by now (if, in fact, there ever was copyright protection on a painting from that era) and, legally at least, she has every right to base her painting on his.

I think we need a few more examples before we brand her a plagierist as well as a liar and a kook.

Well, several news agencies are bringing this up. It doesn't matter how many works you plagiarize. Doing it once makes you a plagiarist.

This is not an example of RD studying a master. She copied his specific work - not just technique or style - and passed the works off as her own.

I find this story utterly fascinating and bizarre. Have any of you watched The Woman Who Wasn't There? It's a documentary about a woman who pretended to be a 9-11 survivor. It's very reminiscent of this story (minus the race issues.)

Rachel Dolezal and fictitious 'dad's Deep South exodus': Newly uncovered interview shows her claiming she had a black father who fled because a white cop was hunting him

In an interview from earlier this year, Rachel Dolezal repeatedly lies about her family
She claims her father is a black man who was forced to flee the Deep South after assaulting a police officer
She also claims he was in the Marines for 24 years and there were three attempts on his life by white subordinates

I think age makes a big difference. My 23 yr old daughter wears yoga pants, flip flops and a messy bun, and she looks gorgeous. I try the same, and I would look like a homeless woman looking for shelter.

Nah anyone can rock the yoga pants/messy bun look- as long as you're comfy and happy anything you wear will look awesome!

I love my yoga pants because "hey did you just work out, clean the baseboards, finish that spreadsheet, or roll out of bed?" Nobody knows! ;)

Sent from my not so humble opinion.

Thank you for linking this Donjeta.

There are multiple embedded youtube video clips from of her interview (the author/interviewer states something was off or as we former THMers & WSers say...... HINKY! ;) )

I'd venture to guess she was leaking all over the place, like in this snip:

"I know who I am, and my kids know who I am," she said. "Pretty much, I don't think anyone really knows, totally."

In a series of interviews last year Rachel Dolezal told an Eastern Washington University art student that her ex-husband expected her to look like a white woman.

“She said it was this very oppressive experience where she had to deny her blackness,” said Lauren Campbell, who is black.

The remarks about her marriage occurred after the filming ended, Campbell said. She said Dolezal told her that her ex-husband asked her to bleach her hair, straighten it and keep her skin light.

So she had a cover story if somebody came up with her old photos from during the marriage, and it made her a victim again.

Yes! Tania Head, I gave a link to a documentary about her earlier in the thread. An engrossing and warped story, indeed. The lies she told were unbelievable. Here is the link again:

What's amazing to me about both of these stories, is people just believed. No matter how outlandish and questionable. We live in a culture where you can't ask questions. No one wants to offend someone or question their status as a victim, or racial origins. I mean...both of these ladies told stories that are straight up fantastical. But when the story involves oppression or tragedy, you are a jerk to question.

She is just too much! It must have been exhausting for her to keep track of the constant array of lies she told.

And can we talk about how horrible her ex-husband is? And how he is a time-traveler? Forcing her to bleach her hair and lighten her skin since she was an infant!

She claimed her ex-husband made her to present as a white woman? The irony of it all is mind boggling.
Is she going to be a witness in the supposed sexual abuse trial? Methinks her credibility has a lot to be desired. I personally wouldn't believe anything she claimed at this point.
Does the prosecutor know who he is dealing with?

And who would imagine someone would lie about such things? I think most people are by nature empathetic and trusting, and those of us who wouldn't tell such fantastic lies, well, can't imagine others telling such fantastic lies.

I think it's very clear she feels or wants everybody else to think she is a victim of something. She has been regularly alleging hate crimes as of recent years. Before alleging hate crimes due to being black, she believed herself to be discriminated at Howard for being white.

Agree.

TY for clearing up the scholarship.
I think of her as deceptive & self serving.
Like "nice doggy " with a rock behind her back. MOO.
