Good guesses everyone. I'm impressed.

BTW, he is not in LE.

Remember, he hasn't had a legitimate job since 1971.

Ya, he is just one of those typical Americans who works a blue collar job for six years, saves up his money, and retires in his upper 30's to a lifestyle of a playboy. It happens all the time.

Funny thing is, that his "retirement" just happens to coincide with the timing of the only unsolved hijacking in US history. Not to mention that he just happened to call in after the hijacker jumped from the plane. Coincidence. HMMM. I think not.

Thanks. We spent quite a bit of time and money to solve the case.

The most difficult part was convincing people that we had the right guy, and finding the flight attendants.

It was a fun chase, and I"m glad this clown is going to be exposed for what he is.

And to think his neighbors think he is a pillar of his community. Pathetic.

You never know who is living next door, and what kind of past they have.

Wait until you hear what he has been doing for the past couple of years. It will blow your mind.

Oooh, I like your teasers!

What he's been doing - does this mean a paid position/job, or do you mean like as a hobby or civic duties, etc.? Can you narrow it down for us, or no?

Thanks! This is getting exciting!

Remember, I can't give away his name until it airs on tv on the 15th of May

However, I kind of have a big mouth.

His "position" was not something that one would use to pay the bills.

It is more of a position one would use to bolster one's ego, and to make other's think he is "one heck of a guy". A pillar, a scholar :innocent: , etc. Something that sounds important, but, in actuality is simply a resume and ego filler. Something that your pay would not even cover your cost of gas.

Hmmm, someone already said Mayor, LOL. I think that was a good guess!
Umm, I'd guess a pastor/minister, but I think you said he lived life up as a playboy after this.
I'll have to go back to thinking. Homeless shelter/Red Cross coordinator/Neighborhood watch dude, LOL. I dunno!

Personally, I would stick in the "mayor" type of "category". But, what do I know?

I can tell you, that I would be shocked if any of that money went to charity. Unless, of course, Budweiser is a charity.

You're saying he's a politician, then? Went from amateur criminal to professional!

OMG, Adnoid. You just never miss one, do you?!

Hello Adnoid:

You don't miss a trick. Good one.

I stated he hasn't worked a legimate job since 1971 (the type of job in which one is required to go to work everyday)

I also stated it was in the "mayor" type of "category".

I can't give it away.

I did say he didn't get paid enough to even pay for gas.

Not necessarily the mayor (although I wouldn't rule out that he may or may not have run for mayor).

We are not talking about New York city here.

Think Mayberry.

That's all you are getting.

I can't say anymore, or I might as well give it all up.

I wouldn't call him a politician. Far from it.

Good old small town USA. Where even professional hijacker's can fit in, and the town folk think he is just a wealthy businessman.

You said he worked a blue collar job before...
He obviously knew about planes, etc.
In these past years since then, has he become self-taught in anything? Do you think he's computer savvy, etc.? Does he have a good knack for business?

A month to wait - this is tough. Can't imagine what it's like for you guys to bite your tongue until May 15th!

Yes, he had a blue collar job, making say, $ 30,000 in today's money.

He was an expert in planes, and of course skydiving. He used to wash airplanes as a kid in order to get to fly them.

I think he is a better hijacker than businessman.

However, a business is always a good cover for laundering money, and making friends, family, etc, think you are legit.

It will be tough to wait a month. But, we have known about him since 2001, so what's another month.

I'd be shocked if he was computer literate.

Hmmm, small town pub/bar & grill restaurant owner...hopefully not at the little local airport, LOL. Oh who knows. It's just fun to think of the possibilities.

Looking forward to watching this go public! And, justice for those victims from wayback when....

The statues have not run out? How do you know it has or hasn't been reported to the FBI?

PS Actually, the statue of limitations for air piracy would have expired in 1976. However, Cooper was indicted under a "John Doe" indictment in 1976, just before the statues would have expired. So, technically, the statues of limitations have run out.

So the question is !!! Have you reported this info to the FBI. So they can verify your info. Seems to me there is no SOL on hijacking a plane.

  • #255
There is a statue of limitations on air piracy of five years. Unless the fugitive absented himself from the jurisdiction with the intent to avoid prosecution. http://www.ericrolandspencer.com/article.jsp?practArea=38&articleIndex=2

In this case, Cooper did not flee jurisdiction to avoid prosecution. Hence, the statue would have run out in 1976, had it not been for the quick thinking of the US Attorney in Portland who indicted Dan Cooper in absentia.

:slap: Big Bad Giirl DAWGIE :D I'm glad you got to meet Leftcoast. And that was too funny Adnoid, just too Good! Great to see you are here too JDB! I've been out doing a bit of 'politickin'' myself around the site to let posters know about this thread.

That is an interesting question, if the SOL has expired on the 'John Doe' indictment, will he be under any possibility for prosecutiion? Scandi

Good job getting us press Scandi

THE Statue of Limitations on Air Piracy is five years, unless the pirate fled the jurisdiction to avoid prosecution. In this case, that didn't happen. Anyway, it is a moot point. THE US Attorney in Portland indicted Dan Cooper in absentia for air piracy in 1976.

Given this, he can technically be tried in US Court for the remainder of his life.

Of course, the government would have to prove the case.

PS Scandi, the John Doe indictment will not expire until Dan Cooper is dead.

  • #258
So Left, the indictment in absentia will stand? Whoops! OK, I see your answer now. Thanks, a thank heavens for that!

  • #259

From those that I have spoken with, they say ABSOLUTELY.

LEFT

don't forget, the US Government still has to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt.
