One wonders if the perp needed to destroy the car, for some reason. Did she buy a car that had some incriminating evidence? I can not imagine making firework out of the car unless people wanted to destroy some evidence.

“We found, through investigation, that her cell phone was last in Seattle, just outside Lumen Field, Mariner stadium, on July 27 at about 7:46 p.m.,” Nasworthy said. “And that’s the last known contact anybody had with her.”

Their investigation also turned up something even more ominous.

“She would use dating web sites and meet men,” Nasworthy said. “And so what I believe is she was traveling to Seattle to meet somebody and that person is the person who did her harm.”

They say they do not have a crucial piece of evidence, her cell phone, which undoubtedly would have a wealth of information.

"A random act of violence, you're not going to go through that level of planning to hide it," lead investigator Jack Nasworthy told a room of reporters Friday at Tacoma Police Department headquarters. "This person is concerned enough that he goes to extreme measures to destroy evidence." [Snip] Tacoma detectives don't have much to work with, but Nasworthy said the Washington State Patrol obtained partial DNA of a male on Davis' remains whom investigators believe to be her killer.

But if you were a random "date" then why would you bring her car back to Tacoma. Why not burn it in Seattle, why would you bring it back to tacoma

Leticia Martinez-Cosman

There are some similarities with these two cases. Presumed murdered but not found, car burned. Was on a date in Seattle.

I hope they are comparing Gitchel's dna to the dna found on Diana.

It will be automatic, if his DNA was on Diana, his profile will already be in CODIS. From what the former coworker said it sounds like she fought so hopefully, she had his DNA. Of course, sexual assault evidence wasn't disclosed.
I just saw this upthread, they only have partial DNA of a male recovered from Davis.

What is happening in our wonderful state? :(

I hope closure is able to be found soon for Diana and her family. I am NOT liking the sounds of this Gitchel.

That is very disturbing that the last place her phone pinged was by the Mariner's stadium and she was using dating apps as per this article. I wonder if this case is connected to Leticia Martinez-Cosman.

Just FYI, I just posted a thread for Patricia Soto, who apparently lived in Burien, which is adjacent to the White Center neighborhood that Letecia frequented and is close to Renton. This case has had very little attention. I thought there were some commonalities with possibly 2 other victims of the suspect. I also wonder if this victim weighed more than what was reported. There isn't much information on her case. Soto was also found in Pierce County, where Davis lived.

I hope the partial DNA they found on Diana will be enough to either confidently rule in or rule out Brett Gitchel.

Hopefully, they can also access phone records for her and this suspect from back then. Or maybe double-check her clothes for DNA (I don't know if the clothes were recovered). With DNA research moving so fast, maybe they can do more than with partial DNA. I'd like to hear some news about a search warrant for wherever he was staying, it almost seems like he is homeless, prowling around at night, and shoplifting in the daytime.
