I think Bundy killed Donna, but I'm not sure the 1978 remains are his... During his confession spree, he said that what he left of Donna's remains at Taylor Mountain did not include her head...(which supposedly burned at his girlfriend's house) So if the remains from 1978 were analyzed by a dentist then I don't think they were Donna's..
he could be lying or wrong about the details. But I'm inclined to think that Bundy actually did pretty much everything he confessed to... He seemed to have a very good memory for his more "complicated" crimes, a very high IQ, and I think Donna's body was one of the places he went to. He said he came back a couple of times after the initial crime...
Could the remains from 1978 be from a different Bundy victim? He confessed to several other murders in the area around that time, of which he couldn't or wouldn't identify the victims... I read his entire wiki just now for the first time in a long time and I really wouldn't put anything past him. Frankly, if a young woman disappeared anywhere he was between 1970 and 1976, I'd bet dollars it was him...
poor young pretty girl murdered...hope his moment wasn't so painful...
either way
rest in peace
