During the confrontation in May, Clemmons punched a sheriff's deputy in the face, according to court records. As part of that incident, he was charged with seven counts of assault and malicious mischief.

In another instance, Clemmons was accused of gathering his wife and young relatives around at 3 or 4 in the morning and having them all undress. He told them that families need to "be naked for at least 5 minutes on Sunday," a Pierce County sheriff's report says.

"The whole time Clemmons kept saying things like trust him, the world is going to end soon, and that he was Jesus," the report says

Definitely not mentally stable, and even if he isn't the one who committed these four murders, he should be in jail. MOO

I don't think the pickup is his. According to last update reported on Kiro - LE had seized a car associated with Clemmons about 2 hours ago.

I am just so heartbroken over this case. Four families to deal with such a HUGE loss. Family and so many children to feel the effects,....during the Holiday Season no less.

My sincere condolence to all involved.

fran

PS..I lost a loved one on a Thanksgiving weekend, many moons ago. It makes it sooooo much worse, IMHO. I feel it even more than 30 years later. No matter what's transpired in life, it still hits home.

My thoughts and prayers for LE and the families of the victims tonight. Hopefully when I get up in the morning I'll find out an arrest has been made...

My prayer is that these heros have not died in vain.

I'm hoping that the ambush-murder of these four police officers in a public place will open the eyes of the public, the media, and especially the justice system to the consequences of 'early release' of violent career criminals.

This perp had no business to be out walking the streets at all. With his 'rap sheet', he should still have been locked away, if there is any such thing as truth in 'truth of sentencing'. This is an outrage.

My prayer is that in losing their lives, these four officers will be able to put faces to the reasons that laws & policies need to be changed.

For the protection of every single individual in this country.

And they let him out on bail why? And who would have possibly come up with the $15,000 it required?!

9 children lost a parent today when this 🤬🤬🤬 decided to murder 4 police officers. Every judge and official instrumental in letting him out and off easy should be sent a picture of each of those 9 children along with a demand to explain WHY.

Sickening.

I truly can not understand the reasoning behind allowing this man to post bail and be let out of prison. Did the court feel that it would be beneficial to his family? Obviously not, with his Sunday escapades of making the women/girls undress for him.

Did they think they would be saving the taxpayers money, releasing him until he went to jail? Not hardly, as he was a repeat offender and with his track record it was a given that he would commit additional crimes. From what I have seen, the crimes of repeat offenders always seem to escalate in tone, not the other way around.

What about his child rape victim? Was it in the best interest of the child to release him? I think not!! How could they guarantee he wouldn't harm her, as a way to get even for his conviction?

Four families are and always will be affected by the events of this day. Healing, if it comes, will be long and arduous. Not only the immediate families are going to be dealing with this, but every officer in our nation and their families. Copy cat crimes are all too common. How many times will an officer be in danger due to this maniac?!

It is so hard to wrap my mind around this. I hope and pray that he will be caught swiftly!

I can't find any live coverage. Anyone else know where to find it? Anyone have any updates on search for POI Clemmons?

Here is Huckabee's response

"Huckabee released this statement in response to the killings.

"The senseless and savage execution of police officers in Washington State has saddened the nation, and early reports indicate that a person of interest is a repeat offender who once lived in Arkansas and was wanted on outstanding warrants here and Washington State. The murder of any individual is a profound tragedy, but the murder of a police officer is the worst of all murders in that it is an assault on every citizen and the laws we live within.

Should he be found to be responsible for this horrible tragedy, it will be the result of a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington State. He was recommended for and received a commutation of his original sentence from 1990. This commutation making him parole eligible and was paroled by the parole board once they determined he met the conditions at that time. He was arrested later for parole violation and taken back to prison to serve his full term, but prosecutors dropped the charges that would have held him. It appears that he has continued to have a string of criminal and psychotic behavior but was not kept incarcerated by either state. This is a horrible and tragic event and if found and convicted the offender should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Our thoughts and prayers are and should be with the families of those honorable, brave, and heroic police officers."

Does Huckabee include himself into "series of failures in the criminal justice system" considering he commuted this guy's sentence?
