9/10/24

Ridgway's hold is likely to ensure he returns to Walla Walla once local authorities are done with him. However, the reason behind Ridgway's sudden move remains unknown.

On Monday, the King County Sheriff's Office said it is continuing to actively investigate cases that are potentially related to Ridgway. Apart from a statement, no other details were given.

In late 2023 and early 2024, the King County Sheriff's Office identified two victims of Ridgway through the DNA found in bones.

I just saw a trailer for the 2012 documentary which quotes GR saying he targeted prostitutes because he thought he could kill as many as he wanted without getting caught.

Apparently GR is back in Walla Walla now? This makes no sense, why was he even moved in the first place? I'm really hoping this isn't the end of the road for any possible new charges.

Even though he's been moved back, it may be wishful thinking, but I doubt this is just a random move. There's a reason LE wanted him in King County for the week. If nothing was going on, they could've easily quashed rumours made by investigators and the families of GR's victims, but they didn't.

This means that prosecutors in Oregon COULD choose to pursue the death penalty now
They wont bother pursuing death for a 75 year old man imo. Statistically speaking hes already at the end of his life span.

Oregons last execution was in the 1960s

Maybe, but I'd at least expect a statement that they've closed Angela's murder case and are confident Ridgway was responsible if this is why they're moving him around.

Last execution in WA State was Sept 2010. Capital Punishment officially abolished April 2023 (SB5087 - Gov J Inslee). If anybody deserved DP,... JMO

Why we don't know more about the transfer

The judge granted a seal of the transport order, which is effective until Aug. 22, 2025.

According to court documents, the judge granted the order to protect any ongoing homicide investigations. Additionally, no objections were noted by the DOC, the order could protect the privacy of potential victims and their families and the timeline of one year is "no broader in its application and duration than necessary."

I will post a link later when I can do so, but I just saw that Ridgway is in end-of-life care.

However, the Department of Corrections directly rebutted this claim, stating:

"These are inaccurate rumors. While we are not able to provide much detail about incarcerated individuals’ medical information, we are able to confirm that Gary Ridgway has not had any change to his medical condition. He is also not eligible to be released to a hospice facility, since people on life without parole are not eligible

The original claim

Gary Ridgway, the Green River Killer and one of America’s most prolific convicted serial killers, is receiving end-of-life care in a Washington state prison, according to five sources with knowledge of his condition who spoke to KIRO Newsradio in recent days. None could provide specifics beyond that.

---------

Seems odd that 5 different sources would be claiming the same thing

Thanks for beating me to the updates. The prison will release information when they can.
