The ex could have given him money. Or paid him to do yard work? Or he could have sold some drugs? Or sold stolen items?

Police should check the security cameras at the Target near The Lake Stevens Transit Center. His arrest in MT was for stealing electronics from Target.

I don't think it's going out on too long a limb to assume that the injuries he sustained weren't from being robbed right after he murdered someone, but instead from his victim trying to fight for her life.

Oh I agree. I'm just saying there are a lot of ways he could come up with $26 in a couple days even if he showed up with empty pockets.

If that is true (not sure how they would know the bathtub was the place of the actual murder) then that would mean he planned to do what he did.

Like he knew ahead of time he would be making a messy scene, as opposed to being in a panic trying to figure out how to dispose of the remains and deciding on the saw/bathtub.

ETA: just read the Seattle Times article. I think there is a chance that the writer might have meant she was killed and THEN dismembered in the bathtub. Wish it could be clarified. Makes a big difference!

I guess we will have to wait for the next court date to see, if there is additional info released.

It wouldn't make sense for him to wait 2 hours at the bus stop. Google maps says it's a 10 minute walk.

There are a few bars in that area, a Target, a grocery store. There is a gym...not saying he worked out...but it would be a place to shower and get cleaned up?

Thanks MrsSleuthy - you had given me the route number of the bus that would come in from Everett. Do you know if that station gets any other buses close to the late evening time? I am just really curious how he got there. I don't think his ex would say 10:30 pm just off the top of her he'd.

I have looked through several bus schedules and cannot find any arriving there late evening so I think I may be missing it or maybe got there some other way and didn't want that person seeing him go to the ex's location for some reason.

4. 4/11/16 John Robert Charlton arrested- initial charge of suspicion of second-degree murder
5. 4/13/16 probable cause- charged with 1st degree murder- Gordon Hill, public defender bail set at $2 million
6. 4/15/16 second set of body parts found by trash collector 900 block on 20th Ave
7. 4/15/16 search warrant issued for house at 948 20th Ave
8. 4/18/16 third set of body parts found by employees at recycling center on South Hanford St
9. 4/27/16 Charlton will be arraigned for 1st degree murder and theft of a vehicle

It was a man in a blue truck. I don't know if LE was ever able to locate him. There is video. The perp was described as between 5' 8"- 5' 10". Medium build. In his forties. Hmmm.

ETA - the 510 route from 4th Ave S & S Jackson - appears to have a 9;50 pm bus arriving at 10;40 pm on Saturdays - it appears to be the last bus out.

Looks like the 512 also runs from Seattle to Everett on weekends. Then you can transfer to the 280/Granite Falls bus to Lake Stevens - but not so late as to arrive at 10:30 pm. Puzzlement.

I read somewhere that it was blue but I can't recall at all where. His FB page is down. I wanted to see if there were any pics of him in a cap.

I'm thinking maybe he text his sister and told her about the text from IL mother. If she were the only one in the family he had a decent relationship with, I can imagine him texting her and telling her. IMOO

YES - I keep thinking of this as well and mentioned it in an earlier thread. I would love to know if his truck is still around and if he recently got rid of it for any reason (maybe when the video hit the news?????)- a stretch but it's so close by.

Omg, Oh yeah, I def saw a picture of him in a knit cap pulled down over his ears on FB. Even if his truck isn't blue, he could have borrowed one. Suppose ex gf, sister, friend etc.

Edited to add: I googled some pics and am seeing one with hoodie pulled low, in all fairness it could be the pic I am remembering, but not sure.
