Not necessarily. If it has been stated she was with JC and Ingrid prior to the murder, this is important. Having said that, where has it been stated the sister owned a bar (or worked at one) and they were there that night? I haven't seen that anywhere.

"Prosecutors also releasing new information saying John Charlton took Ingrid Lyne to a Seattle bar where his sister works after a Mariner’s game Friday night.

Charlton told detectives he was dating Lyne for about a month and claimed he was with an ex-girlfriend in Lake Stevens over the weekend when Lyne’s body was discovered in a Seattle recycle bin."

This may be important because it may establish a timeline AND answer the question about if they really went to the game??!!!
Maybe our dear victim chatted to the sister about the game particulars? Maybe there was additional concerns or questions our victim chatted to the sister about?
If so, this convo may have angered the murderer & precipitated his crazed impulse control disorder--not that would be anyone else's fault; just his own....his own disorders totally!

It seems like an important piece to the investigation & I'm sure the FBI is all over it!

This guy sounds easily enraged when drunk, so it could have been anything that set him off. But, to your point, it's possible that if he introduced IL to his sister at the bar that night (we don't know for sure if that was a first introduction or if his sister was even working that night) some inconsistencies might have come out in casual conversation that could have revealed to IL that this guy had been lying about something, such as where he lived, went to school (well we now know he started on April 9th at All OF Them--riiiight), did for a living, etc. That could have definitely put him on the defensive if she called him on it.

This is a different mugshot than I've seen before, related to his MT arrest. Someone way back in this thread asked if it seemed like his right eye was swollen in the picture of him in the star-shaped goofy glasses. Looking at this mugshot, it seems as though his eyes aren't symmetrical - his right eye appears noticeably smaller.

It almost looks like a puffy eyelid. Mine's that way and I've no clue why.

News reports have said he visited her, not that she was 'with' him. Sheesh-that is how rumors get started.

Was she even for sure working that night? That would make sense, but he also might just like to go there because he is familiar with the place and has met the bartenders, etc. Regardless, I am sure LE is gleaning any info they can from anyone, anywhere who crossed paths with IL and JC that night.

the pictures he posted of her on his FB page are scandalous for a brother to post of his sister
-leo7

I looked at all the pics he posted and none were even close to what I would call scandalous.
I agree with other opinions to not talk about the sister unless it has to do with actions from that night. She is likely in a lot of pain right now too. She lost her brother who lived a troubled life and he committed a horrible act to an innocent person.

I don't know what others are thinking but what instantly popped into my mind when I read it was Robert Durst at the end of that HBO documentary saying "What the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course."

Durst also killed a man, chopped him up with a saw, claimed self defense because the head was never found and said he was so drunk he doesn't recall cutting up and disposing of the body in Galveston Bay.
Durst, from a family worth billions, hired the best lawyers in Texas and was acquitted.

I have not seen it said that he told police he had stayed there before. I don't think that's accurate info.

It's in the probable cause documents.
Apologies, I should have posted the link in my last post.

According to probable cause documents, Charlton told detectives that he and Lyne had been dating for about a month and that he had spent nights at her home on previous occasions. He said he and Lyne returned to her home Friday night after attending a Mariners game.

The more I think about this, the more I'm thinking this act is something he fantasized about and planned to do. I'm not sure he planned to it that particular night, but he did take the opportunity when he had it to fulfill his fantasy. And I think Ingrid was exactly the type of woman he fantasized about hurting. He could've picked up anyone rather easily - or even prostitutes - if all he wanted to do was kill and dismember. Instead, he killed and dismembered a really nice person, accomplished, beautiful, a mom, someone he knew and who knew him.

The fact he cleaned up well enough that her mom didn't notice what had happened in the house shows he knew what to do - probably from playing it out in his mind previously. It wasn't a moment of panic - it was methodical, even if he was intoxicated. Again, I don't think he planned this particular night, but had a running fantasy for a long time about hurting nice moms. Just my armchair opinion!

He was approaching middle-age and he could see his peers established in their lives, and he was past the age when being a drifter is okay. I think he couldn't handle life's responsibilities for whatever reason, used alcohol to self-medicate and sooth himself (which didn't work as it seem to bring out his demons instead of quieting them), and he developed these sick fantasies as a way to lash out at successful people.

TOTAL SPECULATION. I don't think he targeted Ingrid specifically to hurt her, but that he was attracted to her type (and who wouldn't be - she was beautiful in many ways), drawn to her, and then despised her and her family life when something triggered the feeling that he didn't measure up.

Perhaps a conversation happened on the date that triggered him. Maybe she didn't like his drinking, or asked him about his job or home....and it triggered that anger that made him lash out. And then his fantasy kicked in to destroy something beautiful, and he followed that script.

JMOPINION at the moment.

Good points. And maybe he was trying to impress his sister, not Ingrid...?

I still see this guy as highly narcissistic. There is a thing called narcissistic rage that comes out when the mask slips - when they are called on their lies. The rest of the time they can be perfectly charming while fooling everyone. Also, when someone is an "angry drunk" - I am of the mind that they are an angry person all the time - the alcohol just lets them shed the cloak of normalcy they usually wear.

There's that saying: Why do you get orange juice when you squeeze an orange? Because that's what's inside.

Agreed, he seems the type that fits that dishonest profile. Perhaps his comment that Ingrid was "acting weird" would relate to your scenario. It makes sense. He has a need to impress people by showcasing his parents' nice home and his beautiful sister...as though these things somehow reflect on him..and let's not forget he is a 37 year old man. He must know he's not much of a winner and I'm guessing he's angry about that and possibly blames others. His dating profiles most definitely demonstrated what a phony he is.

I have not seen firsthand any news that mentions a bar and the sister following the game, but clearly several people have. I am curious about his initial blackout comment though. Now does he remember something so big as going out after the game? Is it perhaps his sister who supplied that information?

Totally agree. I get the sense he wanted to do this to someone, but hadn't necessarily got up that morning thinking, tonight's the night.

His left eye does look signifigantly smaller than the right. In fact, his left eye looks almost fake. Perhaps it is a glass eye?

It was in the probable cause docs. It's posted upthread a couple of times. It sounds as though he supplied the info. (Though I am sure by now LE has verified whether it was true.)

Thanks...I must not have read those docs thoroughly. I'll go back and reread.

Thanks, I missed that when I read them (obviously). I think I was distracted by "relatives said the bathroom was not normally where the saw was kept"......

I totally agree. I've never been convinced he was drunk. They've got her car getting home around midnight and leaving around 4 a.m. 4 hours. 4 hours to kill someone, find a pruning saw, put her in the bathtub, dismember her, package her parts in garbage bags, load them into her car, clean himself and the scene up. I really think he forgot to put the saw back. You don't clean that thoroughly and be so methodical about removal and then leave a saw in plain sight. Drunk. I'm just not buying it. I can't believe it's easy to dismember a body with a pruning saw anyway. They're made for wood, not bone. Ugh.

I guess CBS News didn't get the memo about showing his face. I just scrolled down a bit on my FB wall, and BAM, the picture with an accompanying article stating that he was acting "nonchalant" afterwards.
