His NamUs page is down at the moment. The Open/Resolved counter hasn't worked in the past few hours so I don't know if it's been archived or not.

ETA grammar

I had not heard about this case, but I hope his story will be told -- where and how was he found? Hoping information will be made public. Poor kid.

The ncmec link on his doe network seems to potentially be broken. I found another link to his ncmec on Facebook from 7 years ago, it throws up an error page.

The wayback machine shows the same type of error going back years, but im thinking it may be an error in how the site was archived

The NamUs counter is back on but the activity from Friday is not reflected in their totals. The Open/Resolved cases for Washington have not changed. I wrote them again and I hope it gets fixed. The status of Jeffrey’s case is still unclear to me, but he was added to the Closed cases on Doe Network so hopefully we’ll hear some good news soon.

I've noticed several Bellingham WA does that have been updated in the past couple of weeks. Several of them were just skeletal remains found - I wonder if this is Jeffrey. Hoping for a resolution for the surviving family.

I emailed DN for more info

"Jeffrey Allen Klungness (1517DMWA) missing since March 02, 1996 from Bonney Lake, Washington. His case was closed by NamUs and NCMEC. No further information is available."

The NamUs counter issue was fixed today, the cases that were not reflected in the Total are now accounted for. In Jeffrey's case, however, only the total of Open cases went down, the Resolved cases stayed the same, which usually means it's hidden from public view. This doesn't explain why he's no longer on NCMEC, though..

I’ve never heard of this case before. My immediate thought is that Jeffrey may’ve been a victim of grooming on the part of Martin (almost like “Abducted in Plain Sight”) and his recent angry outbursts were related to that more than his parents fighting. I don’t think this screams extensive premeditation but maybe Martin suddenly opted to run off with Jeffrey and did something to hurt him somewhere. MOO.

It would definitely be interesting to know more about this; but they may or may not ever release further information it sounds like..

Jeffrey Klungness Charley report page has been taken down…I somehow think that the family is requesting this.

On DoeNetwork, top of the page says “located and identified persons”. Must be one or the other. You have to scroll down to find his name.

Wish we had more info.

[…]
In 2017, mushroom pickers in the Greenwater area of unincorporated Pierce County discovered a skull fragment.

Forensic analysis confirmed it belonged to a juvenile male with signs of blunt force trauma. The FBI extracted DNA, and in 2020, a match was made to Jeffrey Klungness using his half-sister’s mitochondrial DNA. A further search in 2020 uncovered additional remains and clothing in the same area.
