GUILTY WA - Kassanndra Cantrell, 33, pregnant, found deceased, Parkland, 25 Aug 2020 *Arrest* #2

  • #281
I just watched the websleuths YouTube video with KC’s twin brother RC. Two new issues raised:
- the victim’s advocate told them that to get life in prison, it needs to be aggravated murder and they did not have enough to prove that (at the time of their conversation anyway), just first degree murder which is 30 years (release as soon as 20 with good behavior)
- the advocate told them that with first degree murder he will get bail, that bail is only denied for aggravated murder

here is definition of aggravated murder:
RCW 10.95.020: Definition.

a few potentially relevant bullets highlighted here bbm:

(6) The person committed the murder to obtain or maintain his or her membership or to advance his or her position in the hierarchy of an organization, association, or identifiable group;
...
(8) The victim was:
(a) A judge; juror or former juror; prospective, current, or former witness in an adjudicative proceeding; prosecuting attorney; deputy prosecuting attorney; defense attorney; a member of the indeterminate sentence review board; or a probation or parole officer; and
(b) The murder was related to the exercise of official duties performed or to be performed by the victim;
(9) The person committed the murder to conceal the commission of a crime or to protect or conceal the identity of any person committing a crime, including, but specifically not limited to, any attempt to avoid prosecution as a persistent offender as defined in RCW 9.94A.030;
(10) There was more than one victim and the murders were part of a common scheme or plan or the result of a single act of the person;

A few more notes to add from the interview with KC's twin... aside from the updates above re: charges and bail, he mainly confirmed what he have heard or speculated.
Video: https://tinyurl.com/qqhq3dv (I think RC started around minute 55)

-KC had already told CD he was the father prior to when she went missing
-KC's father encouraged her to tell the baby daddy (RC speculated this was related to his father's devout catholicism .... as speculated earlier, I personally think divorced fathers, especially of this era, tend to be protective of paternal rights and it comes from a good and optimistic place)
-RC thinks that baby daddy's live-in GF would have been suspicious about CD involvement in KC disappearance at some point well before CD's arrest because of the suspicious activities of CD on the very day that KC went missing, particularly:
--- ADT cameras have back up batteries for like 24 hours or something at least so the cameras should not go out with power outage
--- The basement spring cleaning project was odd, especially because the rest of the house, the actual living areas, are a big mess (as we saw a glimpse of in that MSM photo through the front door). Why would he do spring cleaning and leave the living areas a mess? How does he accumulate so much trash he needs to go to a dumpster but not even bother cleaning up the front hall and kitchen?
-Tricia noted that one of KC's friends was just added to WS as a verified insider
-the 🤬🤬🤬 page is now for memorial
-RC was concerned that CD could make bail given his and his brother's assets.
-Tricia mentioned the family could file a civil lawsuit against CD and RC was familiar with that idea
-RC noted CD gave KC expensive gifts and once $500 cash as a gift, which RC thought was due to inheritance
-RC questioned if CD's brother could have been involved noting that CD's brother lives very close to site where KC's body was found

If I knew my partner was suspected of just murdering his mistress in cold blood in our basement I probably wouldn't be doing anything to make him angry
I get that. I would hope she was not so isolated that she had nowhere else to go, no one to discuss her concerns with. It certainly seems CD perceived that she was independent enough that she would leave him immediately if she found out about KC/baby and if she was I would have expected her to walk out after the house being swatted and putting together the timeline of suspicious behavior.

But it's possible she was more dependent than he realized and we all know there are many cases where for example domestic violence victims stay despite being afraid for their safety. Innocent or guilty, I am glad she was not harmed in the mean time and certainly it seems like LE had flash bangs and swat present both times they raided the house to do their best to make sure CD didn't hurt anyone else.

I just watched the interview with KC's mother. It was so raw and devastating. That poor woman. I sincerely hope that there is victim support services available to the family.

I listened to the interview last night and a few things that I picked up on:

RC said that the live in wanted to have a baby and that she had been telling CD that for a while.
Personally - I think that is the motive. He never wanted kids, he was denying the live in a baby and not giving in and oops...Kasie (which is what her family calls her) pops up pregnant. Here he is cheating on his live in and the girl is someone from the past and she's pregnant. A long history of drama between all of them.

RC said that the live in is either "involved or she's a moron". The alarm system has a 24 hour battery, so there's no way it could go down. CD purposely called and had it turned off. And the house is a big mess and for him to be cleaning up any specifc area is a real red flag.

Kasie was dumped only a couple of blocks from the CD's brother's home and about 11 blocks from RC's home.

I understand that cleaning ALL of the blood would have been very hard, but he probably didn't spend several days "cleaning" the basement, since her blood was found there in several places and on his car. He tried, but I doubt this guy was cleaning for days. I'm guessing he cleaned the vast majority of the evidence so the girlfriend wouldn't really notice it, but he clearly didn't do that great of a job, since LE found blood in several spots the very first time they searched the house.

Isn't that his house? You can't kicked someone out of their own house lol. She could've left, yes, absolutely. At this time, I'm inclined to believe that she didn't participate in this horrific murder, I'm not sure if she eventually started realizing something was wrong. I mean, we have seen time and time again, where families are presented with overwhelming evidence that a family member committed a crime and they don't believe it, it doesn't surprise me. Some people will just deny, deny, deny, some just refuse to believe or even question things, some will know that yeah, their family member probably did it but will still deny it and keep that to themselves. Nothing surprises me anymore.[/QUOTE. It seemed like he moved the car and the truck at the same time, so it looks like he had some help.

I don’t know what he did about the baby, but some comments on Fox13 live today indicate what he did to the mother. Shockingly sadistic. We have DP moratorium in WA, but I hope they won’t let him out, ever.

Do you have a link to that article/video? What does it say that he did?

In WA State, 1st degree murder (his charge) is a sentence to life imprisonment. It must be "with a premeditated intent to cause the death of another person".
Chapter 9A.32 RCW: HOMICIDE

From everything I've seen so far in the search warrant affidavit it seems they have strong evidence backing up that CD's actions were well planned out. I'm curious if the police were able to find any evidence of CD buying any of the materials he used in the murder at the local store, Costco, etc. He was a chef and worked at a catering company so unfortunately he likely would already have access to latex gloves, knives, large garbage bags, tarps, etc.

I do have concerns of CD making bail today given his and his brothers inheritance. If bail is $1M I don't think he would have trouble getting a $100k but I also don't know if any bail bondsman will want to touch this case. I'm not sure if CD could do a full cash bond but it's possible.

Video of Kassanndra talking about her experience with a theater convention showed she really loved the theater Her passion for it made her look younger than her 33 years. I was glad to see who she was. Another beautiful person snuffed out life cut short. This didn’t deserve to be a dad. Law enforcement really did an excellent job, they even found her phone in Puget Sound. This hurt so many people. So glad he’s going to pay the price for this.

I would think someone was helping CD to drive the truck and car

The search warrant affidavit stated he drove his truck to the parking garage with his bike in the back before he met Kassanndra at his house. Then surveillance cameras show him coming back and driving her car, parking it and then driving his truck. It sounded like he was alone during all this time.

If there is a mugshot can someone post it? I haven't been able to find one.

Who knows, if live in
GF got pregnant he might have killed her too.

Well, at least now I would not do anything to make LE angry, so I’d cooperate with them, in her shoes...

That was my understanding as well. Technically it would have to be aggravated 1st degree murder to get an automatic life without parole, but the sentencing for regular 1st degree murder would be minimum of 30 to life. And since Washington doesn't have a parole board a life sentence would effectively be life.
In any case, as long as he serves at least 30 years in jail that would be fine to me. From the looks of him he will not fare well in prison and it would be a VERY ROUGH 30 years. He would leave prison a very sickly and feeble 60 year old.

so far I am not seeing any streaming for this Judge / courtroom... haven't seen any tweets yet either. Anyone else?

Odd how he is the only arraignment on the docket for this courtroom... the others are mainly pretrial status hearings. I wonder if that is a scheduling thing because the top prosecutors are already in that courtroom on pretrial motions/ status conferences (rather than in the usual arraignments court).

1:30 pm west coast time I assume, 4:30 pm on the East Coast.

It wasn't well planned out. Planned? Yes. Well? No. Ive been in the public parking garage that was near where her body was found. There were camera domes/bobbles clear as day to see! Thats like shoplifting at walmart and hoping that the domes on the ceiling are fake or pointing the wrong way. He went to a place with a membership, that tracks purchases, to build an alibi and bought items used to cover the crime!

Im seeing from another source the body was kept in the house overnight then dumped the next day. It was found with a stab wound (could be more) and the medical examiner stated there were multiple factures on the victims skull. What a monster.
