Found Safe WA - Leonnel Barajas, 1, Yakima, 27 Feb 2017

Leonnel Barajas, 1, was taken from his Yakima residence - in the 800 block of Central Avenue - by his uncle, Manuel Mendoza. Mendoza broke down the back door, pointed a gun and took the child. They may be traveling in a 2000 silver Chevrolet Impala, with black rims and no hub-caps.

Manuel Mendoza is a 23-year-old Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes. He is believed to be 5'10", weighing 155 lbs.

Jessica Mendoza may also be involved. She is a 24- year-old Hispanic female with blonde hair and green eyes. She is believed to be 5' 4", weighing 130 lbs.

Barajas is a Caucasian male with blonde hair and green eyes. He was last seen wearing a maroon shirt with gray sleeves, and red and blue checkered pants.

Manuel Carrasco Mendoza is a Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes, about 5-feet 10-inches tall and weighing 155 pounds. He has a tattoo on his right forearm that says "waste" and a tattoo on his left forearm that says "land." He is believed to be armed and possibly dangerous. Mendoza broke down the back door, pointed a gun and took the child.

The abduction happened Monday night around 11:30pm.

Any thought on the motive? I'm sensing this is the child's mother and the man is ID'd as Leonnel's uncle.

When a non custodial mother abducts her own child from a foster situation, the child is almost always found alive and well, although not in an ideal situation.

Prayers that's the case here.

They are believed to be in a silver 2000 Chevrolet Impala with black rims and no hubcaps. Police do not know the license plate, only that it was issued in Washington. They are believed to still be in the Yakima area.

Police arrested Manuel Carrasco Mendoza, 23, just before 6 a.m., but officers are still looking for the baby's mother who may have him.

The dispute is over custody. Officers are still looking for a silver, four-door Chevrolet Impala.

Amber alert canceled after boy, suspects found in Yakima area

Mendoza was taken into custody in the Yakima area at about 6 a.m.

Jessica Mendoza, the boy's mother, was found with Barajas in the Yakima area at about 8 a.m.
