WA - Lindsey Baum, 10, McCleary, 26 June 2009 - #10

I don't feel JB harmed her leading to murder at all. I feel he is the missing link but is not aware of it on any level. I feel someone had befriended JB, used the knowledge of JB hurting Lindsey and the discourse in the family to finally take her on the whim of the evenning. I do feel as others from looking at the layout of the tiny town and how you can enter and leave the town that Lindsey did know this person! This was too convienant to a local preditor not so much a town you would drive to to stalk the dusk hours in town. If Lindsey was taken home by LE they would have to have talked to mom and the 3rd report should have landed JB back in juve for another crime. Alittle girl growing her nails long for defense purposes is ambig red flag that she had to physically defend herself. CPS has been in a lot of trouble here in our state for puting kids back into harms way. As far as sibling fighting abuse social services possibly checking the home enviroment that can be pushed under a rug during an interview if someone fears the abuser. The only question of concern for Lindsey is did bro befriend an older male who kept his tendencies to himself? I read Jb used to fish with that WW charactor and thats what pointed me into this direction, added with many other red flags stemming away from the home to friends and locals.

I don't see how we can rule out the brother here. I haven't been able to yet. And yes...he could keep it from LE and his mother. We don't know his personality and his mental make-up at this point except that he has some behavioral issues.

Sociopaths were children once, too. Psychopaths didn't just wake up one day and become crazy either. Not saying JB is either one of these things, but the truth is...we don't know.

IF those rumors are true about knives, shovels, choking etc., then we have to look at how far out of hand things could have gotten with Lindsey. Her mother obviously wasn't doing much to combat the problem between them since she herself brought up that Lindsey grew her fingernails long to defend herself against her brother. She also said there were physical altercations. They must have been pretty bad for Lindsey to purposefully need those nails to gouge him. The mother was promoting Lindsey to physically harm her brother during fights, imo. What does this say about her ability to control him?

whereever you gomthere you are with this case! SS, thankyou for understanding the necisity I felt to share . Bro has huge peychiatric issues, not a slap and to juve. These issues aren't cut and dry and I feel with all mt heart JB hilds a key that woul unlock this stalemate. That kid got to go happily on his way since the abduction which is fine if a kid can heal that quick after a loss. Something is upside down that we didn't see his dad affectionatly stand by his son, have an arm around him, no media report as to how dad describes the wear and tear on his son. About Lindsey's fingernails, I don't think it was stated she grew them long to defend herself, just that she had used them on her brother. I had long fingernails when I was young, honestly they grew pretty fast and I just thought they were cool. It's not that I grew them as a defense or weapon. My sister certainly had marks on her from my nails if we got into a tussle though. This could also be the case with Lindsey IMO.

How does someone from the internet go about finding the "local rumor mill of McCleary" when many of the residents in McCleary don't even know who the "local rumor mill" is. Don't you think if people were supposedly hiding things and not wanting to talk to the police that they'd avoid random strangers from the internet? God knows I would.. you can't guarantee who you are talking to.

Hi Jennifer, I have never posted back and forth to DD and have no idea about how he does his research. I do wonder that myself although I haven't read there for a little over a week.

Hi again Jennifer, I went reading and I think it is just rumor about some guy who crawled thru Lindsey's window on the night she disappeared and got a broken rib and he drinks allot. It doesn't make sense as it would have had to have been timed perfectly for the short time she was home. And MK was with her, right? If this were true I would think LE would have had him in a good guy/bad guy routine down at the station like pronto!

I don't get how DD goes about getting the info. I just can't grasp the concept that someone from McCleary is just talking about random things to a random stranger on the internet but supposedly they are "afraid" to tell the cops. If I had info that I didn't want the cops or anyone else to have.. the last thing I would do is tell someone from the internet. KWIM?

IMO, the person is trying to cause trouble, mislead from the truth or they are mentally unstable. I haven't seen an ounce of proof come out to back up these rumors.

If DD was local I'd believe more of what is said. But when you have long time (generations of family in McCleary) locals telling they haven't even heard these rumors it makes you wonder just who is the "local rumor mill"?

They have a lot of information over there that is wrong. I just can't be bothered to register to correct them (plus by the looks of some of the posts over there it wouldn't do me any good to correct them. They seem to believe what they want).

Everyone has turned up their noses because she was an "outsider" and no one is doing anything now because they just don't care.

A lot of the posters over there have made comments about how they can't understand how people have just gone on with their lives even though a child is missing. What else do they expect? People in McCleary had lives before Lindsey went missing.. they are certainly going to have them after. And just because they've gone back to normal routine doesn't mean they don't care about Lindsey.

No one in McCleary (that I know of) is even talking about WW. My husband has worked closely with WW in the past. He said he's a nice guy (not saying nice guys can't be bad guys.. just saying what my husband has said) who likes to help out people. He's helped families before.. whether they are young or old. My daughters church has many members that do the same thing. Doesn't make them SOs.

I will go back and read the quote because IIRC she was talking at the time about the fights and Lindsey defending herself against her brother. I thought she mentioned it is why she grew them long, but I could be mistaken.

You know, that shock happens more often than you realize. Many perps, especially sexual offenders who kill, can be people who no one would ever suspect because of those very things you mentioned...they help out families, they are kind beyond words, they do good works in the community, they are avid Christians, etc.

I do wish LE would do an update, anything just to know where this case sits and get Lindsey's name back in the media. Maybe the rumors would die down if there was some real news to go on.

Imagine all the bull LE must hear and have to wade through. I hope a real clue doesn't get buried under all the crap.
