Checking in on Lindsey - Lindsey is in my thoughts and prayers. Bless all the good people who are actively involved in searching for Lindsey and doing everything possible to keep Lindsey in the forefront of everyone's mind.

Dear Haddie, What would we ever do without you :blowkiss:

I think these proactive efforts are all very good and every contact will help keep Lindsey's name in front of the public.

I also think when a case starts to go stale what investigators do is go back to the beginning and re think everything related to the crime scene itself.

I'm a bit old school so don't think the seeming inactivity in the case means the investigators are in a quandry and have nothing going in the case. Dedicated investigators always have their cases alive in the back of their minds. Seeing one thing might spark a similarity with another case and lead to new clues.

Why in fact I know of one investigator in that very area who only had 2 unsolved cases when he retired and still to this day is working to put these cases to rest. Just because they are from a small town scenario doesn't mean they don't have the dedication and knowledge it takes to solve cases IMO. And they continually have all the expertise of the FBI up in Seattle.

I hope one of the 'local yokel's' crack Lindsey's case because I have implicit faith in them. Ya Ya

Well, we've got some great mentors here ~ :)

Thank you all. Right now he is being kept comfortable. I'm home for a bit to take care of the sled dogs and get a bit of sleep, then back to the hospital.

Hello,
Im new to posting here. I live in Grays Harbor county and continue to hope Lindsey is found safe. I have read through pages and pages of posts re Lindsey. A couple of places come to mind that may or may not have been searched. I have read that Lindsey loved the twilight books, Forks is the town the story takes place first beach is just out of Forks going toward La Push, also in the forensic astro threads someone mentioned the bogachiel(sp) that is very close to forks.
Also in the astro thread it was mentioned a location 20 or so miles wsw I believe they were looking into the Melbourne area, because the thread also mentions a muddy location out of curiosity I mapquested Aberdeen lake and it is 23 miles from Mccleary.

I swore I wasn't going to post today because I talked too much yesterday, but is it possible that MB needs a caseworker? Someone that can carry the load of what seems to be transitioning from a mom, doing the best she can under the circumstances, to almost a professional full-time job.

There are many resources out there that can be utilized (just read about a 4th billboard for Britanee Drexel), but having the manpower, skill, and motivation to access them all can be a full-time occupation.

If I were her, I would be overwhelmed. She's only one person, and everything has to go through her. Hopefully she can find the inner strength to pull this off. From what I've seen of her, she can do it, but the reality of the amount of work that is going to be involved may just now be setting in as the shock of Lindsey being gone may be lessening just a bit.

Hopefully that shock will be replaced with motivation.

Hugs & Prayers to you MomB.
You are not alone ~

Thanks for your suggestions, Razzberry - glad you are here. I'm curious about these areas too. From the very beginning we learned that Lindsey has aspirations to be a writer and illustrator, and loved her Twilight books. So to whatever degree Lindsey had any choices, it would make logical sense that she would gravitate toward Forks.

The Melbourne area was brought up by other members, but for some reason we haven't done much brainstorming on that yet. Maybe now is a good time. Let us know what your thoughts are. Thanks.

There were two specific locations that peaked my interest, having to do with fishing/camping areas designed for youths/elderly/disabled persons. For a combination of reasons, I felt these areas would be worth taking a closer look.

Friends Landing/Camping
300 Katon Road, Montesano
facilities and services specifically for persons
with spinal chord injuries.
(thanks to Karen for finding this)

Vance Creek County Park
near Wenzel Slough Road & Wakefield Road
south of Elma
http://wdfw.wa.gov/do/newreal/release.php?id=oct2999a
ponds stocked, pond #1 restricted to youths/elders/disabled
(thanks TamgMit for finding this)

Obviously these recreation areas had lots of activity this summer,
but several of our locals were dismayed because they weren't
seeing flyers posted in some of the nearby areas. To me, that
would suggest that many of the visitors fishing and camping
might not have been on the alert to look for Lindsey there.

If these areas are still open to the public, it would be great if
someone could at least get some flyers posted there.

Maybe someone saw something....

MikeB actually took aerial pictures of both of those locations.

Great idea! I mean NO offense to Mikeb and his tremendous aeriel efforts. In my opinion, there is nothing like a person on the ground, in the space, with the knowledge that a body may be around.

Thanks for bringing these spots up again to search. I'v not said anyting hoping they did search Melbourne around and beyond Friends Landing. Hopefully this will be checked out. I'v taken a bit of a brake just doing phone work and was so glad to see all these post.

Hello everyone. I have been working the last few days so I am just getting caught up on some on Lindsey. I believe there was some mention a while back of Friends Landing and Vance park but not sure whether they did or did not search those areas. I beleive Forensic horoscopes had mentioned this area of Melbourne. I know a lot of us are feeling frustrated of the lack of news on Lindsey from both the papers and LE. But please don't give up hope. This beautiful child needs to come home. I realize as time goes on the less hope of finding her alive is dwindling but we need to have hope cause sometimes miracles do happen as we have seen with Dugard. The other thing is if she isn't alive then at least there will be some closure for the family and friends and not having to always wondering where she might be. I feel this time is difficult for all.

I would like to thank all that have worked very hard in trying to find this young lady. Much free time has been spent researching, searching, helping to develop ideas where Lindsey may be. I see this thread has slowed some. Please don't give up hope on her now. I know she has affected my life and I am praying that someone has a little more information that will come forth. Hey, it might not seem important but you never know, it could be.

On the various missing child cases I've researched in the past, I've always tried to pay close attention to any Canine Search & Rescue efforts that were conducted. A professionally trained scent dog is, in my opinion, an expert I can rely on. To put it bluntly, I trust the dogs - because they have no reason to lie or distort the truth.

Until yesterday, I had not heard or read anything about there being a "death scent" picked up by the search dogs in McCleary regarding Lindsey's case. However, on other threads, I'm seeing what the author says is a copy of a letter from the private K9 handler who was hired by MB. What I read looks legitmate to me, including the effort made to clarify what a "death scent" signal means, wind direction, etc. I don't know the rules here well enough to post a specific link, but you can find the info easily by googling "Lindsey Baum" + "Harry Oakes" (reportedly the name of the private K-9 SAR handler).

This is a rather delicate subject, and it has taken me several hours to come up with a way to express my thoughts and feelings about this. The bottom line is, I want to know the facts, even if it is not something I want to hear.

Obviously, it's important not to over-react to information we do not have a clear understanding about. Not to mention the fact that LE and the media have NOT officially released any information in this regard. And there might have been a good reason for it.

So what do we do now? I have a lot of questions I wish I could ask.

Candles still burning, thanks again to all of you locals who are running yourselves ragged trying to keep Lindsey in the news.

The subject of Tim Miller's organization called TES (Texas EquuSearch) has come up several times in this case. I thought it best to post a link for everyone to see first-hand the TES procedure for requesting a search for a missing person.

http://texasequusearch.org/category/missing/report-person-missing/

The request must be made by a family member and/or LE agency handling the case. (bold text mine).

That being said, we all know from the facts that have come out on other missing child cases, quite often family members will disagree about the search efforts. In one high-profile case in particular, it was reportedly the victim's great-uncle who made the formal request to TES.

I can understand why a parent would prefer to focus all their energy towards finding their child alive and well, as the alternative is hard for all of us to bear.

Sadly, there is another harsh reality. And that is when a family member might have been involved in the disappearance and/or death of the child. The murder of Robert Manwill in Boise is a stark example.

Let's keep in mind also, that we simply do not know if anyone in Lindsey's family has contacted TES or not. There is a huge demand, and Tim Miller agonizes over the decisions he has to make when deciding which cases to pursue. One tv interview he gave in Orlando pretty much broke my heart.

We are very lucky to have the wonderful volunteers out searching for Lindsey, God Bless them.

in regards to Coralla's post. i just read over at the other site what you were talking about. he mentioned she could have been on an ATV. does anyone remember near the beginning something about a sighting of a girl matching lindsey's description with an older guy on an ATV? that was on a logging road if i'm not mistaken.
