Hi everyone, I was able to pop on for a bit today. I don't know when I can again, and I have to admit I haven't been able to read the entire thread yet (what has been posted since I had to step away).

I wanted to go out on the ledge here so to speak and make a suggestion. It's wonderful that we have a new poster here that has gone into McCleary and taken photo's and spoken to the town citizens. I deeply appreciate that and want to say that the contribution is invaluable. A deepfelt thank you.

However, I would be remiss if I didn't advise caution about talking to the main players in a potential murder case. I know we all want info in order to assist and help find Lindsey, but we have to be very cautious in approaching main players or minor players because there is a very fine line drawn by LE and once that line is crossed we move from being a slueth to being involved. What I mean by involved is LE has an ongoing investigation, I would imagine they don't take kindly to outsiders coming into that investigation. KWIM?

I am only posting that concern because I care about our members here.

For all our newest members, WS is a privately owned website. It is owned by Tricia (she does post here also).

Here is what Tricia had to say about contacting players in a case:
Contacting Case Players - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

Again, I'm not chastising anyone. I deeply appreciate the information, I just don't want to see anyone have difficulties either with LE or with TOS on websleuths.

Take care and carry on! :)

In post 992 in the Monkeys thread, KK said she hasn't seen WK in years. KK also said that LE had taken her work computer to copy her hard drive. I haven't seen that mentioned here.

But how is that true when she and WK owned or ran that business together? She was somehow involved in it anyway, and I got the impression it was certainly more recent.
IMO, I don't believe that.

One other bit of insignificant information I found before my PC bit the dust the other day. ( I fixed the driver it's fine now).

It is neither here nor there, but in order to get the big picture of all the main players I found out what it is that KK does for income (she has said she works from home on other crime boards).

She is paid to post.

ETA: her url name on one of her myspace was write2write, I did a search and this is what popped up for that url nickname http://www.squidoo.com/lensmasters/Write2Write

I'd like to know who the mom's "friend" is that purchased the dad's airline ticket, personally.

Do you mean to say she is paid to post on crime boards and was doing that before Lindsey disappeared??

I don't understand how that would work. I haven't been paid one penny for toiling away in these forums every day!

No Steadfast, she is paid to blog. I'm unsure of exactly how it works. I think it's the amount of hits a submitted blog gets and the advertising on that page? I have never sat down and tried to figure that one out. Sorry.

But no I don't think posting to forums pays LOL (unless you're hired by a lawyer~ just a smartypants remark in reference to another case here that I don't read anymore because the emotions run way to ^^^^ high for me :))

Actually, ahem, I own a site that people get paid to complete offers, do surveys, etc, so I do know there are sites that pay you to post. However, these sites are OBVIOUSLY paid to post, she can't just go anywhere and make a penny for posting something. And yes, she can get paid by having ppl view her blog, and for writing articles for AC and other places.

Oh, momtective, Kadence could have tracked Lindsey! I am almost SURE of it! That is one gorgeous Shepard. If Lindsey raised her her from a pup and even let her sleep in the bed with her, then I am sure Kadence could have taken them to the place she last was! I so wish the mom and whomever the friend was that was with her had done this. :(

"When she wasn't home by 10, I started to get nervous," Baum said, adding that 10 p.m. is the curfew for her children.
She began calling Lindsey's cell phone, only to find that her daughter had left it plugged into the charger. Initially thinking that her daughter must have met up with friends in the neighborhood, Baum set out on foot to find her daughter.
But there was no sign of her. Eventually, her friend's parents joined the search by car. Baum even let her daughter's beloved German shepherd Kadence off its leash in hopes the dog would help find her. Finally, around 10:45 p.m., Baum said she called the police.

Can someone kindly direct me to a place/link where I could find at least the last name of ML, FL and FL? I'm wondering if it is forbidden to actually put their names on this forum, or if I just missed earlier mentions of them.

TIA.

Hi, I can't link you to the post from ML on a nother forum, and they have not been mentioned by the media that I am aware of, but I can tell you their first names. That combined with the town should net you the info from a google search. Fester, Festus and Marilyn. Festus was who I was specifically interested in checking out... but it appears that my theory is not possible if they have recently moved away, because I thought the ML might have been the woman who saw Lindsey before and after KK's house that night... that's not the case it seems.

Every 4th of July my father in law puts on a large party for family and friends at his house.
This year Lindsey was the talk to the event. I just sat back and listened to everyone talk. One girl said she had talked to a Detective who had come into where this girl works (she refused to give me the detectives name--but said it was a close family friend) and she was told all kinds of stuff about the case. I didn't ask alot of questions about what was said because I have a hard time believe a detective on the case would talk to a girl standing behind the counter of a fast food restaurant. The little bit that she did tell me sounds a bit strange and are more than likely just rumors. She probably said a detective told her this info because it made it sound more believable.

From a link on KK's Lindsey blog:

" . . . There are companies out there that are hired by forums and blogs to bring traffic to their sites. Those companies then hire individuals to post on those sites and pay them per post. On average you make between .10 to .50 per post, depending on the job.

. . . To make it as a good poster here are some things you will want to follow and keep in mind.
1) Do not make short-" yes/no" or "me too" types of posts. Keep them at the minimum between 15 and 25 words unless otherwise requested.
2) Never disclose that you work as a paid poster on any forum you are paid to boost. . . . (and a few more rules)
http://freelancersstartingplace.blogspot.com/2009/01/getting-paid-to-post.html"

Boy, if I find out KK was posting to any crime sites before Lindsey disappeared, my suspicion meter is going to go way up! (Although I guess it's not much of a motive to kidnap someone just so you can make more .10 posts.)

I do think, though, that her being used to posting or blogging explains why she ended up posting so much when this happened, which actually makes her less suspicious. It makes it a very different situation than people who come in to post after a crime and it's obvious why they are trying to confuse matters. (I'm thinking of forums like Michelle Young's or the Wix topix pages.)

All this time I thought Festus and Fester were the same people. Hmm.. who is Festus?

I feel furious that missing Lindsey didn't meet the criteria for an 'amber alert'!!!! Who made the decision she was a runaway and is that really up to just one person? IMO time was wasted (days and days).

Why weren't we told of Lindsey's long fingernails and that the perp might have scratches on his arm? Or about the slip-on shoes that may have come off if in a scuffle. I think those are important facts that people could have been vigilant about the first several days... Maybe in addition to the amber alert, there should be another alert for ALL missing children!!! moo

It is my STONG opinion that no blogger should get paid for information regarding a missing child....the media's distortion and failure to soundly report is quite enough...we don't need others mixing up the facts to enhance blog hits. MHO

They might very well be :)
That was part of the info I was searching for.

ETA - However, Fester is coming up as 49 and Festus as 28, at least at the time of those arrests that I listed.

That's pretty much the way I feel too STEADFAST.

I don't see any reason not to believe Kara. Of course, everyone puts their own positive spin on themselves. Natural and expected. Plus, she takes a lot of responsibilty (guilt) throughout her posts.

After a few years, we take things with huge lumps of salt, but this one seems OK to me.

<snipped a bit>

She isn't getting paid to post about Lindsey on the sites where we read her posts.

Just the blog... which really has nothing we don't know.

Ok, then Festus must be the son. It's just strange that he uses Festus as his MS name. I thought it was just a nickname.

Snipped and bolded by me respectfully.

I hear you eyes. I found the Department of Justice recommended criteria for an amber alert :

http://www.amberalert.gov/guidelines.htm

Summary of Department of Justice Recommended Criteria
There is reasonable belief by law enforcement that an abduction has occurred.
The law enforcement agency believes that the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death.
There is enough descriptive information about the victim and the abduction for law enforcement to issue an AMBER Alert to assist in the recovery of the child.
The abduction is of a child aged 17 years or younger.
The child’s name and other critical data elements, including the Child Abduction flag, have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system.

Someone here may be more familiar about the criteria that is needed at state level. From my understanding there are federal guidelines and then each state also have certain guidelines in order to activate an amber alert.

I think that possibly in Lindsey's case, there was no evidence of an abduction and that may have been the problem.

Again, I understand everyone's frustration, even my own. Just wanted to share that info so we can carry it forward to other cases if need be.
