WW was not mine, if that's who we were talking about. I just ran down what I could on him after he was brought up. RP was mine. I can't remember who started on WW, although he is starting to look better and better as suspects go.
Thanks for clarifying. Hmmm...now who brought him up? I think he should be explored. Too many times it is the guy next door everyone trusted.

I dug up a bunch of info on him last night and had asked here if any locals know of him... but he had definitely been brought up much earlier I think.

Something else (another coincidence?)
this guy (WW) has driect ties to the states wildlife and eco system (being the state fish and wildlife biologist), and has be linked to at least one logging situation which makes sense with him holding that position.

The recent forest fire was in an area that was a recent logging site.
The fire apparently began in a part of the forest that had been logged and recently had been replanted....

I read another horror story last night on CNN about the girl of the slain officer from 1988 from CA. He picked her up out of her front yard while travelling through town as a "companion" or so Anderson said in his confession before he died.

Perhaps O/T, but here goes:

S/S: I would really like to have more details on this particular incident you read about on CNN. TIA.

I'm not SS, but I believe she's referring to Amber Swartz-Garcia. There was news about this case yesterday, when LE announced that they have decided he was telling the truth when he confessed to the crime.
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/07/06/BAGM18JPRT.DTL
In late 2007, dying of liver and kidney problems, Anderson confessed that he abducted 7-year-old Amber Swartz-Garcia as she jumped rope outside her Pinole home in 1988, drove her to Arizona and killed her, authorities said.

I think someone was checking out various people and he stood out because he lived so many different places which raised their curiosity. Then they noticed other girls were missing from some of the places he possibly used to live. (Please correct me if I am wrong or missed something!)

ETA: This subject did not come from NMK. ;)
Wayne Watne also led the vigil that was held for Lindsey on June 30, 2009:

http://tinyurl.com/kja286

>>>snip

Wayne Watne of Evergreen Christian Community in Olympia and two other local ministers said prayers for Lindsey’s return. Watne took speakers from the assembled crowd. Friends of the family stepped up, taking turns expressing their hope and their pain.
<<<>>>
To finish the vigil, the crowd walked barely a block to the Baum house, lining the street practically all the way down to the park. There, Watne presented a sign saying “Hope” to Josh Baum and a family friend. Mother Melissa Baum did not feel up to greeting her neighbors, who instead left cards and gifts on the chairs in front of the house and shouted messages like, “I love you!”

“We’re doing this because we love you,” Watne said.

It wouldn't be the first time someone injected themselves into the situation as a loving friend of the family either. I wonder if this person has shown up for all the searches etc.?

It has been done on other cases with small communities where people were asked to either give DNA or to take a polygraph as an entire community. The people who refused gave LE cause to dig deeper into their backgrounds and add them to their potential suspect list.

Maybe WW and others should offer to do this instead of being asked. The more people they can clear quickly, the better the chances of finding Lindsey and the perp/perps.

Sorry to leave you guys in the air. I heard about the unconfirmed sighting from my friend who works at the ORV park. She is quoted in one of the news articles about the area. She is a very trustworthy person. She said that on Saturday, someone at the park said they think they saw Lindsey up on one of the trails with a man on a quad. He wasn't aware at the time that there was a missing little girl. He remembered the situation because the man looked startled and nervous and then a little girl came out of the woods to his quad. She was wearing a pink floral bathing suit. When he got back to the ORV park, found out about Lindsey and was sure that the little girl he saw was her. Someone (don't know who) headed back up to look for the man and girl, but they were gone. That is a VAST area of trails full of quads, dirt bikes and four wheelers. My family and I spend a great deal of time up there ourselves. It is not uncommon to run into other people on bikes, etc. It would also not be uncommon for a father, or family friend to let a little girl off the quad to go potty in the woods....it is uncommon for little girls to ride quads in that area dressed in nothing but a bathing suit. She'd get scratched and banged up. The whole situation just did not sit well with the man who saw the girl or with the others back at the park, including my friend. I do not know if LE was notified. I am assuming they were, because this friend of mine used to work with me in the corrections industry and that tends to give you a permanent "security" mind set. She would have told LE no matter what. She did say they were searching every camper, trailer and vehicle leaving the ORV park. I don't know if that included LE or if it was just park volunteers asking for permission to search vehicles. This wouldn't cover everyone going in and out of the whole state forest, just the ORV park proper.
Did I cover it all? I just don't want to leave anything more confusing than it already is.
Are there trails through the woods near downtown McLeary that end up inside the ORV park? I read an article that said LE would be searching the ORV park 3.5 miles from where Lindsey disappeared. Might she have left the pool party to go for a ride, thinking she'd be safe because this person was also at the party, and therefore, a "friend"?
These sightings of a young girl wearing a bathing suit in strange places concern me, because they sound true.

Aye, the vigil is part of how I landed on him.
I was watching that video where JB had the fishing pole and started looking into any local fishing holes the kids might hang out at, etc...

That's when I ran into some info about WW having taken JB fishing in the past. The name was familiar but i could not remember from where... so I dug a bit and remembered the vigil info. A little more digging turned up his state wildlife and logging relationships, and a little more turned up his previous addresses. The other missing girls just came as a result of searching for missings in the areas WW previously lived.

Like I had said though, I definitely didn't mean to insinuate anything other than some pretty blatant coincidences at this point. But as the coincidences start stacking up, so does my interest in this guy.

More hearsay but yet another local mentioning abuse at the hands of her brother.
Could this be the same person (ML) who was posting comments like this earlier? Maybe. But also could be somebody else.

Look for mamahead's comment at the bottom in the comment section.

ETA: There's a friend amongst the girls on MS that shares the same birthday with Lindsey, I am sure you all are aware of this person. Since she's a minor, I won't link it. But could this comment have come from that friends grandmother?

In every missing child case, there are usually sightings which are proven to be cases of mistaken identity. Girls of that age can resemble one another a lot due to hairstyles, coloring, and other factors. K stands out in her appearance with her complexion and hair style, but to me...Lindsey is just a normal girl with nothing which sets her apart physically from others.

Lindsey had made it home to change her clothes and shower after swimming that day. She was last seen wearing a hoodie and jeans, IIRC.

I agree. I don't much trust coincidences, especially when they stack up.

At the same time, I'd think an "honest" missionary would want to lead a vigil for a missing child, or take a lonely boy fishing, and he might even have an interest in preserving natural resources.

I don't know what I think of Missionary Watne, really.

The problem is we don't know if there has been a conflict between them in the past on an adult level. Maybe "grandma" liked someone MB dated at one time? Stranger things have happened and in small towns...they happen a lot. ;)

Btw~ Do we have an accounting of everyone that MB has dated or spent time with in the past couple of years?! Was she known to go to the bar at all? Who has she been seen with other than her children?

If it is ML or if it isn't, the threats from the brother need to taken seriously by LE. Was Lindsey really afraid of him or did she antagonize him? These are questions which need answers...by independent sources instead of her mother. ;)

Me either. I agree, everything with him could be completely normal or not. Still digging :)

No, there are no trails through the woods near downtown McCleary that end up inside the ORV park or Capital forest. You would have to travel across 2 lanes west bound and 2 lanes east bound on hiway 8 to get to the side of the road Capital Forest is on.
Once you enter Capital Forest, if you know your way around, you can take roads that will lead you all the way to Olympia, Tumwater (north I-5) or to Mayfair and Little Rock (south I-5)
I agree with you about the sightings...I don't know if it is really Lindsey or not though. I know her mom said she changed clothes after swimming, but many little girls wear their swimsuit under their clothes.
Hope that helps. :)

Thank you, Gailrene and JenniferO! Your descriptions of the area are so clear and detailed I can almost see it, all the way from California!
