WA - Lindsey Baum, 10, McCleary, 26 June 2009 - #6

There is no community pool in McCleary (that I am aware of). I think the closest one would be Olympia (but I think those are all inside pools) and Aberdeen (at the Y which is indoor)

My friend has an above ground pool that is left there all year, covered during the winter, heated slightly for summer usage. But that is not the pool that Lindsey had been swimming in (she's the same age as my friends daughter but isn't her friend). I do not know if anyone else in McCleary has a pool or not, never paid attention.

Would you be able to identify your friend's pool in one of JVK's pictures so that we can rule it out? I've found two pics of pools so far....if it's too personal of a question, I completely understand. TIA

I have a question for the locals....is it common for people to have inground swimming pools in/around McCleary or is it more likely that the girls went swimming in an above ground pool? I noticed two swimming pools in JVK's photos...one was a permanent above ground that would need to be "winterized" and the other was one of those temporary ones that you use for summer months and take down and store during the winter. I'm guessing that it's pretty cold there.....and that freezing would be pretty tough on in-ground pool liners and such......so am thinking they would be uncommon.

No, this is not common at all. Very few homes have inground pools and those that do, are usually covered. It has been a dryer and hotter year this season, however most of the time the weather does not support outdoor inground pools like say Las Vegas where you see them in just about everyone's backyard.

Sure, I don't believe JVK took pictures of my friends street but I will look at the pictures. Link me please

I doubt they are my friends though.. you cannot see it from the road. You would have to get out of the car, go into their house and out onto their deck to even see the pool. They have an 8 foot fence around their back yard so it can't even be seen from the alley.

In the quotes from the news stories Lindsey is described by her mother as being very talkative, a "chatterbox." That is why I'm so curious as to what someone with bad intentions could have overheard her say while the girls were in that video store.

I also doubt that it was your friend's pool, because the ones that I've spotted are not surrounded by privacy fences at all....they're just right there for the world to see from the street. Thanks!

ETA: Locals, are people supposed to have privacy fences around their pools? Just wondering, cause it was required in the town I grew up in.....but things are SOOO different between WA and AR, lol.

It is the woman at the Five Cents to Five Bucks store that gives the balloons to kids on their birthday not the lady at the video store.

I was thinking this awhile back too, which is one of the reasons I was trying to establish "who was staying over at who's house". If they had originally been discussing Kayla staying over at Lindsey's then was someone expecting both of them to be walking back to Lindsey's house? And was this person planning on nabbing both girls?

Thanks! Haha, funny you should ask....not really sure what either of them are, LOL. They're both rescue pups. If he's only got Cocker in him, he's gotta be the biggest one I've EVER seen in my life (that pic was taken about 6 months ago...he wasn't even a year old, then....he weighs every bit of 40 lbs now). We think he might have some chocolate Lab in him....he loves to retrieve and play in the water....he has more of a Lab personality, I think.

It's easy to get things confused.. there are so many details.

I believe the video store had video tape footage that the LEs looked over and found nothing (or at least nothing they are telling us)

Didn't Lindsey's myspace at one point say that she was wet because she was having a water fight, or was that someone else's? If it was Lindsey's, then that speaks more to the idea that she was at a friend's home as opposed to a public pool.

When were those common pool photos taken of Lindsey? It appears that the on where she has crossed arms is a permanent pool, and it also appears that that photo was taken on the same day as the one with Josh, when their bodies were painted. Does anyone know where that pool shot was taken, was it a town pool or a private one? My only evidence of a "same day" shot was that the bathing suit is the same one. She and Josh have the same sort of goggles as well.

I found those photos of Lindsey in a bathing suit at King5.com. I can get them from my photobucket again, if that helps, but they weren't dated that I could see.

Hi Boondock, That is an interesting thought and I doubt an abductor would want 2 girls at the same time. Listening to MB on that video she was expecting Lindsey back home that night. She said noting about the possibililty Kayla would be coming too, at least that I heard.

There is a RUMOR that the girls changed their mind on the way over to Kayla's house to both stay there for the night but who knows if that was true.

We have read somewhere she was only at Kayla's house for 10 to 15 min. That makes me think she wasn't necessarily seen on the way up to Kayla's house but on the way back which would mean it was a crime of opportunity. He saw her and decided this was the perfect time to make his move. IMO
