It is 9:24pm right now in Portland. Twilight has gone and the last shades of sunset are burning low on the horizon. It is minutes from being dark.

The evening Lindsey vanished I do think it was still light but dusk was approaching soon. It seems in Summer when darkness comes it is almost suddenly, with little warning. And into August the time will lengthen to where at 10pm it will just begin to be getting dark. That is approx as I haven't refered to any charts.

What I think I am saying is that 3 weeks ago it could have well been that by 9:30 or so dusk was turning into night, and if she had walked all the way down to the area behind the police station, it might have been almost dark or well on its way. Shadows everywhere even with a lighter sky. That is the way it is right now in Portland looking out to the west at 9:33pm. xox

I know it was light enough to see well outside until after 10 on the 27th...I went out to Westport with my kids that day to the pirate dayz and came home, had dinner, and we went walking and played outside until 10...and it was still light enough to see well at 10:30 when I had to go out to my car and get stuffed animals they had forgotten...and I'm completely surrounded by trees. The area Lindsey went missing from has very few trees and the buildings aren't close enough together to really block the light.

Just wondering if anyone here has been following the cryptic posts in the guestbook on the "Help Find Lindsey Baum" page. These 2 posts were by an "Adam" posted on 07/21/2009. Link:

A site is devoting itself to tackling the cryptic language:

Links to a suspicious person who may be related to this poster can be found here. He was convicted in 1995 and no further evidence that I know of determines his status now or even if he still lives in the area. However, a check that I made finds a number of offenders in that area, but my "check" source has been proven to be a bit ancient on some findings, as was clearly shown a few days back:

http://search.criminalcheck.com/PDdetails.php?db=WASX&rec=3663&ed=157&dlnumber=CC&dlstate=CC&id=CC

I read missing posts from the last time I logged on and couldn't find any discussion relative to this so I decided to post these links. If any of the above links go against policy, let me know and I'll delete them or MODS delete anything non-kosher, thanks.

PS - thanks LadyBug and SS for sharing with me your "boobie ident" on those photos posted  :blowkiss:

Sounds like the rambling of a bot, Normcar.

I think my being so far south of you makes a big difference in when light diminishes with the twilight. I just know at this time of the year whan it happens it goes pretty fast. 100 miles or so might make a big difference.

Do not respond to an email address you think might be a bot. It's a great way to get your legitimate email on a spam list. They want you to complain and send you their address. There's new software out there that can fake all kinds of things.

cyberswept - you have nicely laid out a hypothesis and backed it up with lots of common sense. mho Can't tell you how many times I've thought of the same scenario...hope it gets sleuthed like the other theories. mho

One thing I've never understood is: What is an undersheriff and where is the sheriff? Could be political but I really don't understand it.

I'm in research and can't tell you how many theories we chase to the end, only to toss them out...and how many theories we think are wrong only to find that it fits in the puzzle perfectly.

very good question and hidden in plain sight kinda thing. I'm sorry I didn't notice it. The Chief of Police, or the Sheriff are always out in the public during cases like this. (Though I've only been here since Caylee, fwiw) :)

The Sheriff in my county is an elected official.
Cyber, McCleary, do you know where your Sheriff is?
Is he on a 4 week vacation? An extended illness?
Learning tactical lessions from Israel, or in Washington DC?

If you know, please let us know, cause I think eyes has a very good question.... :)

A few years ago there was an article in the paper (I don't remember if it was local or not) about a mom who faked her daughter having cancer (went as far as shaving her head) and had collection jars out at the stores and people had fund raisers to help with expenses. Eventually she was found out and the game ended..

In the back of my mind I kind of wish this is what was going on with Lindsey. Mom needed money so she shipped Lindsey off to dads house (or some other family member out of state) and faked her disappearance. Dad came out here (using the "I'm deploying to Iraq" thing to see if that would get them more money or something) to "search" or in this case make it look legit.

Wouldn't that be nice if it were true?

I have had similar wonderings about the LE set up. I don't think Scott is the chief in McCleary. I could be wrong. I have been surprised to not having seen someone more in authority than Scott talking to the media about Lindsey.

I think the Sheriff is an elected position and the Chief of Police an earned or appointed one by the Mayor of the town, if it is anything like in Portland.

Scott is the Undersheriff. Don't know who the sheriff is.

Truly the definition of Bittersweet! Then would come the rage.

Michael Whelan is the Sheriff of Grays Harbor County. Rick Scott is the undersheriff of Grays Harbor county.

Is there any possibility that she could have met a guy through myspace who was claiming to be younger and wanted to meet up with her? Cause I just can't get the fact that her she said she was on Myspace for serious relationships and dating?

Police in McCleary (according to http://www.cityofmccleary.com )

In addition to Chief Crumb, the City now has Sergeant Graham and one addtional officer, providing around the clock protection.

Anything is possible. LEs have looked into her computer usage and as far as I know they've never said if they found something or not

IDK. I do have to say that I have wondered since day one if the brother did something to her.

Those were my thoughts too. But I would have thought if he had done something they would have found her by now. I can't imagine a 13 year old boy being able to hide her that well. Plus I believe his alibi checked out.. mom said he was at home during the time she disappeared.

NMK, that's what a lot of investigators do, they take another, deeper look at the evidence. I am going to suggest something that bothers me just for saying it, but I feel is worth notice. If you look at all the circumstances, to me there is one senario that fits. This is pure speculation, but does fit the facts.

1. There was no trace evidence.
2. Nobody saw anything.
3. Nobody heard anything.
4. Last person to see Lindsey, county employee. Who at this point has been and remains nameless. Why?
5. Most likely area she was nabbed, 3rd and Maple, just a few hundred feet from the police station.

Add all that up and my theory is... it's a LE Officer. Unthinkable yes, but not unheard of. Makes me shiver just to suggest it, but as all angles must be looked at, this is one that bears some investigation IMHO.

Also, Within the last few months, the county sheriff's office has had a presence here when they didn't before. They now regularly park their vehicles on the other side of the police station.

1. There was no trace evidence. (LE smart enough not to leave any)
2. Nobody saw anything. (Police car on patrol, who thinks anything of it.)
3. Nobody heard anything. (Of course, he is a trusted person.)
4. Last person to see Lindsey, county employee. Who at this point has been and remains nameless. Why? (Speaks for itself.)
5. Most likely area she was nabbed, 3rd and Maple, just a few hundred feet from the police station. (Because who else would know the exact whereabouts of any other fellow officers?)
Any chance there was an accident? Could she have been struck by a car driven by County worker or LE or anyone?
OK Ok I know what y'all are thinkin': "silly silly christee-she's just so clueless!"

Oops, oh well, I sent it from my back up email addy anyway. So no big loss to me. My curiosity was killing me.

OT: I am feeling a lot better, for those that were worried about me. It turns out, nice to know this now, that certain opiate based painkillers can have dangerous psychological reactions with some other forms of medication. (Like Atarol (sp?))
So, yeah, never take those together, even if they were prescribed. I did and among other things, caught a bad case of burnout.
