King County Sheriff Deputy investigators said Matthew Ficken shot his parents, Lorraine and Robert Ficken, last week on or about Jan. 10, and didn't kill himself until deputies came to the house do a welfare check on Tuesday after concerned family members called authorities after not hearing from them for several days, according to KOMO news.

Lorraine, 68, and Robert, 72, were found with gunshot wounds on Tuesday afternoon in their $700,000 home in Sammamish, Washington, along with Matthew.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office said Matthew died of a shotgun wound to the head and his death was ruled a suicide.

Lorraine and Robert had split amicably ten years ago but still lived together with their son, The Seattle Times reports.

Family members have said Matthew was 'mad at his mom for planning to sell the house and move to Oregon to be near her family, even though detectives said she gave him more than enough money to get started on his own place.'

A 34 y/o man killed his mother and father because he felt entitled to their home? And he lived there for 5 days with their bodies? Shudder.

My emotions are all over the place and have been since I read this earlier today; I can't get this one out of my mind. I don't understand how the son could have been this far gone (in whatever defect he has that made him do this) that he would live with their bodies for 5 days - he didn't even try to hide them, or destroy evidence. There was clearly no end game here. Just biding his time until he had to do what he knew he would eventually do.

I wonder how they know the parents were dead for five days and I wonder what Matthew Ficken did for those five days. Shudder again.

Really, what did he do for five days? Contemplate suicide? Then, worked up his courage, upon LE arriving? This is crazy. It sounds as tho Lorraine & Robert we’re lovely people.
Had a family member not contacted LE, I shudder to think how long the son would have continued living there. And, what was he going to do with the bodies.......
