Deputies said Mackenzie Cowell's body was found Saturday on the shore of the Columbia River, and it appears the body was put there by someone.

Douglas County sheriff's detectives are now investigating the scene, in an area that is know to be popular with hikers and campers. They have so far declined to confirm the Chelan County report that the girl's body is Cowell's.

No other details were immediately available, but Chelan County deputies told KXLY News in Spokane that a passer-by found Cowell's body near Crescent Bar, about 20 miles from Wenatchee, on the shore of the Columbia River.

The body was found with her feet in the water and fully clothed.

Cowell was last seen in Wenatchee as she left beauty school on Tuesday. Her car, a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix, was found several hours later, abandoned three miles away on the side of a dead-end road.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and speculate that MC broke up with the boyfriend. The boyfriend then wrote some poems that are VERY similar to the ones written by the dude that killed his son and posted on facebook (in the crimes forum). Very scary stuff.

I'm thinking a knife was used. And a new boyfriend by the name of Rick possibily?

Mackenzie was such a beautiful girl. So many dreams. So many opportunities. All of that taken away from her far too soon. Rest in peace, Mackenzie.

Did the take her to the Crescent Bar Resort for a "Valentine's" date?

I would think that if she had a date out there she would be excited and tell someone, it's an exclusive area.

It's very strange to me that the car would have been dumped up Pitcher canyon when she was killed all the way out at Crescent bar. This means that the killer would have had to drive back out to the highway to East Wenatchee, cross the Seller bridge across the Columbia to Wenatchee, and drive up Squilchuck to dump the car. Crescent bar IS accessible from the Wenatchee/Malaga side of the river, but the road out there that runs along the river is very primitive, not sure if her car could have made it. I wonder which side of the river she was found on? The side with the resort is all chock full of homes, park, golf course, vacation rentals, ect... the other side has no homes and is very remote.

I don't know, but I also suspect that her death was violent (gun or knife), simply because of the frantic nature of the S.O. spokesman's comments about having to "catch this monster". Also determination of a violent death is sometimes not made until the coroner has had a chance to fully examine a body, like in the case of a choking. So I think her cause of death was probably obvious and violent.

Thank God her body was found so quickly, hopefully there is ample forensic evidence to be had that can be tied back to the car and people she knew.

The whole BF thing is very strange to say the least. Who the heck in this world spends time writing disturbing poetry when their GF is missing? Also it seemed strange to me from the beginning that he would claim he had a text from her that just said "hey" and then no other communication. Do any of us know any teenagers who would just leave a communication with a friend at "hey"? I don't!

You're right, I just did some searching and I'm pretty sure the parents are divorced. Looks like her mom owns a real estate company in the Wenatchee area. I haven't been able to find any information about her dad yet.

I could see that, and I could also see her obtaining her mom's code for entry to bring a BF there. Not saying she was a bad girl, but it's something that would have tempted me as a teen. Nice vacant house on the river, and teens crave privacy when they are courting.
