"He told us they had dinner together. He's not the average handyman to this family," Thurston County Lt. Mike Brooks told CBS affiliate KIRO. "He's a good family friend, so it doesn't necessarily seem like having dinner together would be uncommon."

Thurston County prosecutors said Zizz is serving a 93-month probation after nearly a year in prison for molesting a child, KIRO reported. They have asked a judge to revoke his probation, given the sentencing violation, and instead return Zizz to custody for 93 months, or over seven years, according to the station

I am extremely cautious of any service people that come into my home. Reason being my grandfather in law had hired two men from a nearby town that had been referred to him through a friend to help him build an extension onto his home. They worked for one week and on payday they saw how much money he had in his wallet. He left for lunch and they stayed on the job. When he returned as he walked into the door they hit him in the back of the head with a 2x4 crushing the back of his skull and leaving him to die. Luckily a neighbor stopped by just to chat and saved his life. He had problems after that with seizures etc and after several years died in a car accident where it is believed he went into crisis while driving (LE thought a heart attack but could have been a seizure). So although he amazingly survived the incident it was still responsible for his early demise. These guys were easily located since several people saw them working there but because he lived they only got what I call a ‘slap on the wrist’ of 3-5 years.

Plus my elderly mother has been hiring what I would call seriously questionable people because she wants to save money. Some of these guys have started just showing up to see if she needs help with anything when they need money. I’m trying to put a stop to this. I live in terror that something like what happened to this poor woman happens to her. She listens to these questionable guys sob stories as well and commiserates with them. She just can’t understand there are predators out there especially when drugs are involved (we live in an area that has been inundated with meth) and no matter how nice someone is they can turn on you in a minute when money is involved.

Prosecutors charged Zizz, 47, with premeditated first-degree murder and first-degree felony murder, both while armed with a deadly weapon. The charges are distinct legal concepts, with premeditated murder requiring intent and planning to kill while felony murder is charged when a death occurs during the commission of another felony — in this case, kidnapping.

The murder and kidnapping charges also allege two aggravating circumstances: That Zizz’s conduct “manifested deliberate cruelty” and that “he knew or should have known the victim was particularly vulnerable and incapable of resistance.”

If proven to a jury beyond a reasonable doubt, the aggravating circumstances would provide prosecutors a basis to seek an exceptional sentence above the standard sentencing ranges for the underlying crimes of first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping, both Class A felonies.

Gary Warnock, Thurston County coroner, called the investigation the "worst case I've witnessed." He said Norman was beaten and injured with a nail gun for hours before she died.

Thurston County prosecutor Jon Tunheim said Monday Norman's injuries could be consistent with torture.

Investigators said Norman's wrists and ankles were wrapped with long black Velcro straps and evidence showed she was bound before her death. Norman's cause of death was blunt force trauma and penetrating injuries to her head.

Zizz entered not guilty pleas Tuesday to all charges. He was charged April 23 with two counts of first-degree murder while armed with a deadly weapon, including premeditated murder, first-degree kidnapping and unlawful disposal of remains, according to court documents.
