Michael's case was brought up on the r/grateful_doe subreddit again. I've had a drafted NAMUS case for him but I can't confirm if he's still missing.

Looks like he was still missing at the end of the 1971-1972 school year (so at least summer 1972?)

From the Rogers High School 1972 yearbook:

There are probably thousands of these types of cases - not easy or unable to find follow-up in newspapers. I have many I have saved over the years for research purposes that continue to just sit there in pursuit of finding some type of answer somewhere. Often the case wasn't/isn't with NCMEC because too old, same applies with LE - it was purged or lost at some point over the years - many people there now in leadership weren't even born at the time the person went missing.

Hope this case gets some ground and momentum, and looking forward to the same happening with all the other ones out there where the status is unknown.

Missed this when I was looking through initially, still missing in 1983:

8 May 1986, The Spokesman-Review, pg 1, 5-6.

Strangely no mention of him as predeceased or missing still on his father's obituary, his brother is mentioned. His sister is also absent though.

November 17, 2000, The Spokesman-Review, pg 14

Anyone think Ted Bundy might have potentially traveled to Spokane?

Im not well versed in Bundy but apparently he stayed at the Davenport Hotel in Spokane during May of 1973

I wouldn't be surprised if he was in Spokane a couple of other times, there's lots of travel between there and Seattle.

My NAMUS upload was rejected. Nothing in my email as to why.

I have heard of this happening three times... I don't get it, especially since one of those three were confirmed to be missing as they were in a database. I was the OP on the subreddit. Found him from those 1983 articles. That was why I was pretty sure he was still missing but anything can happen in 40 years.
What can we do to confirm it otherwise so we can get him on CP and maybe Doe Network. We could contact the Spokane PD or Spokane County Sherriff's office to confirm the status on his case.

Is it possible they delete them because they already have a profile made but for some reason it's not publicly available?

Possibly. I have seen this happen with two other MP's. One was Patience Jupiter who was confirmed to still be missing and Denise El-Mansura, who was also confirmed to still be missing. This does make it seem slightly more likely he is missing still.

Has there been any police records requested for this case?

No. I'm not local to Spokane.
I work for the Spokesman-Review (the newspaper quoted) and I can try and pull some archived records at work. I wonder if the police still have a file on him!

Thank you so much! That would be amazing! Good luck in your search, if you do go ahead with it!

I've had some good experiences in the past reaching out to the records division of the PD jurisdiction - they should certainly be able to tell you if they have an file on him and put you in touch with the person who is handling the case internally - good luck!

Bumping.

Does anyone find it strange on how tall he is? Especially for a 15-year-old...

Checking in to see if you were able to find anything.
