Your Welcome! I have a soft spot for this case. For some reason this case bothers me because it seems like Nancy was doing what so many women do. Working and then just relaxing in her home minding her own business, enjoying some wine. Then just vanishes.

From his business address in Tenino to Nancy Moyer's house is .06 of a mile, just down the street. He has a minor in possession charge from years ago and a few others that are closed, can't tell what the charges were.

Trying not to get my hopes up ...

Hey Nurse! I posted an article in Crimes in the News. It stated that before he sold meat out of his truck, he worked for a company that delivered gourmet meals but they went out of business because of the recession.

In another article I found, his father said that he always dated "older women"

He said his son delivered gourmet meats for a living, but that the business had fallen on hard times because of the recession.

Howell said his son dated a couple of different women, and those women were older than him. He added that he worries that his son may have gotten involved with methamphetamine, and that he was hanging out with drug users who frequented the area of the Chehalis Western Trail in Tenino.

We have had people come to the house with a rig that looks similar to his truck, with the freezer in the bed. They sell frozen meats, steaks and burgers mainly. Come in boxes like DFAC steaks, Nurse. They hit every house in the neighborhood. If you say no thank you, they wheel and deal trying to make the sale. We raise our own beef, so we'd never buy their product, but the neighbor did and said the bacon wrapped fillet was good.

Since this guy listed his home address as the place he does business from, I would say this is pretty small scale, in other words he is probably not selling to commercial vendors. Also, the DOR website says the account was opened in March of this year, so he has not been doing this long.

ETA; If he was mixed up in drugs, weren't there unsavory people who hung out at the RR tracks near Nancy's house?

I've always thought that the grocery store I marked on my map was the one she stopped at on that Friday, but it's been a while since I've read any of the original news stories. I plan on re-reading all of this tread when I get back from work tonight.

A Tenino man arrested in connection with a woman’s slaying says he found her body, had sex with her corpse, and then was planning to dump her body, according to court documents.

Bernard Howell, 26, appeared in court Monday after he was pulled over with a woman’s body in his truck on Sunday night, said the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Howell killed the victim on a popular trail near Highway 507 and Mull Road near Tenino, but Howell says he didn’t kill her; he only found her body.

A man said Howell approached him and asked if he would help dispose of a woman’s body, the sheriff’s office said.

In court yesterday, Howell claimed that he found the woman after she was dead, had sex with her corpse and then went back to his house to get supplies, including zip ties, the sleeping bag and a 10-pound weight. His plan was to dump her body in a nearby swamp.


Police say they don't believe Howell knew the victim. But they've still yet to figure out how the two crossed paths.


KIRO says Howell has a history of mental problems and will undergo an evaluation. They also caught up with his father.


"He's a good kid. I'm extremely shocked and I'm trying to come to grips with it," Keith Howell told KIRO. "I would say he was a regular American boy who got involved with a circle of drug users and snapped."

Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock identified a Tenino homicide victim as Yelm woman Vanda Boone, 60.

Warnock said Boone’s throat was slit and she had blunt force trauma to her head and neck.

Other contributing factors to her death include asphyxia due to strangulation or smothering.

Her official time of death has not been determined, but Warnock said she definitely died Sunday.

Boone moved to Yelm from New York in March and was a student of Ramtha’s School of Enlightenment in Yelm.

While driving across the country her moving truck caught fire and she lost all her belongings, Warnock said.

Boone has no living family. Her only brother died recently in Brazil.

“Right now she’s an unclaimed individual,” he said. “Thurston County may be making arrangments.”

Vanda Boone, moves cross country from New York, loses all her belongings along the way. Her only known relative, a brother, died recently in Brazil.
Then she is attacked and murdered near a quiet little town.

RIP Vanda Boone.
