We were, we were and now I think we may be in Washington State? Where court starts at eleven or twelve o'clock in the am, runs for two hours with five minute refreshs (which include a commerical) mandatory. God knows when this court quits for the day.

So I am following a trial. Only hearing half of what is being said BUT I already think the defendant is guilty as sin.

Wanna know why? His shoes!! No just kidding. The reason I think he killed her is because she had the retainer in her mouth. I haven't connected all the dots but that retainer being in her mouth is important as to where and who killed her. I hope to hear that the retainer was the type that could be removed easily. If so I would think that during a beating the retainer would fly out of the mouth and someone put it back in after she was killed. Or she never had it in her mouth during the crime and someone put it in after death. Who would do that?

HiYa, near-East coaster! Yeah, these hours are good for me in my a.m. -- allows me to do a little around here before things get started, but bad in my p.m. since it goes for me till 8:00 p.m. Anyway...

I don't have all the details of where they think she was when this obviously, IMO, guilty defendant jumped on her & killed her, but could he have gotten to her when she was in bed with the retainer in her mouth, he forgot about it & just went about his nasty biznezz and killed her & hauled her out to the place where she was found?

Was he cool & calm or was he just in some kind of rage when he did it? Yeah, the retainer thing may be one more nail in his go-to-jail, let's hope. (Of course the defense will say that her having it still in her mouth will help show that he couldn't have done it because he would have remembered it & removed it.)

One thing I have learned about these awful folks we see on trial is that not one of them, or as some of us would say here in the South, "not a one" of them is "normal." Some quirks (to use a mild term for whatevah) are seen again & again in these folks, and some are unique to each individual -- but it does help me feel like I am more normal than I thought & so is my DH. Dull & normal -- gimme dat, please.

But a bit of the crazee is nice and sometimes we just have to let that bust right on out. Some of us more than others (who, who??) and some of us (who, who??) more often than others...

April 2012 he was held on 1 million bail. Still looking for whether he posted bail or what happened.... damn you internetssss, damn you!!!

Dave has been in jail in downtown Seattle since the day of his arrest.

BTW, does anyone know why the defendant goes by "David" when his name is really Martin? I mean, it's not like his adopted name is anything spectacular, just curious.

He actually goes by Dave...not even David and always has not sure why? Probably because his Dads name is Martin...or maybe because it's a lot more casual than Martin?

Is it break time already? Less than one hour of testimony... whyioughta have become a judge or the court reporter for those banker hours.

Haha that's funny - considering Dave worked for a bank! Maybe the banker hours are for him haha!

Did Nicole have children, and if so, who is watching them now?

Hi to amiga Seattlechiquita! Peace, love and justice.

I don't don't that if true or not but I don't think the defendant knew about the eight year sobriety birthday Nicky was going to that evening. I think Nicky planned on going to the AA meeting/celebration to fortify herself against that partying fool of a husband she had and intended on showing up at the friends house to meet up with her husband later that evening.

I think Martin wasn't aware of the AA celebration for Nicky. I think he killed her in a fit of rage and showed up at the friends party without her, thinking his 'alibi' was being set.

IMO the retainer in her mouth was the last thing she did before she went to bed. If someone other than the husband had gotten into the home and killed Nicky before hubby arrived back from the party would there be any reason for the killer to move the body? Martin moved the body to hide it and he hoped it would never be discovered and the story about Nicole disappearing into the night would have held up.

I used to wear a night/bite guard (for teeth grinding) made by my dentist, putting it in is the last thing you do at night, you can talk with it in but it's not all that comfortable because it covers the roof of your mouth and your tongue hits it, I didn't even like taking a sip of water while wearing it. Mine was clear and although visible, I'd have to smile or open my mouth for someone to see I had it on. I can easily see him not noticing it if she'd laid down and he attacked her in bed (and with the blood they said was found on the mattress it sounds possible).

It leaves me cold to think that he slipped a drug into her Red Bull knowing full well that she was doing her best to stay away from drugs. She felt guilty taking pain killers for her back, that is how strong she stood. Yet, this man slipped drugs in her Red Bull to let her relax on her morals. What a disgrace.

You and me both. Nicki loved her sobriety and was an active member of the recovery community. He is a piece of you know what. I thank god that Mr. Chiquito is so incredibly supportive of my sobriety. He even tells me when I get a little kookoo: "you might need a meeting" hehehehe.

I'm glad you have a reminder there for you, seattle. My cats can tell by the pitch in my voice if my blood pressure is escalating and they start meow and standing up against my legs. It never ceases to snap me out of it because there ain't noting quite like three howlers howling away. They get down and quit meowing immediately. Weird huh?

So the AA party wasn't until the following day? So Nicky put the retainer in her mouth, getting ready for bed and Martin killed her? And dopey forgot to take the retainer out?

This story was extremely disturbing to me also. If true, the guy is a jackass. What I can't figure out is what was her reaction. Did she know or suspect what had happened? Was she in denial about him? How could she have continued to live with the guy if she knew what he had done?

From what we gather, she found out bat his affairs, confronted him, and died as a result. Could have also been that while finding out about the affairs, she also found about this jerk drugging her red bull, which could have sent her into a mega fit, possibly more than finding out about the affairs themselves.
