This is also how I feel. If he really is alive, his will to evade capture is stronger than the love he had for his daughters.
him killing all three of those beloved daughter was my first clue that his love of self is greater than his love of them were. JMO Why wouldn't his will to evade capture be?

That’s not the vibe I was getting from the sheriff, though I could be misinterpreting what he said and what he didn’t say. But if you think about it and looking at the search areas of last week, if TD is alive, he’s going round in circles. He has no other destination other than those mountains.

What is he saving himself for?
A job rehab program?
TD Just either turn yourself in and plead guilty as you should or take care of business personally and end yourself.

Seems like if he wants to make his way anywhere outside of the mountainous wooded terrain between Leavenworth and Cle Clum, he's going to have to steal a vehicle that the owner won't realize is missing immediately.

I thought this as well. Is there a vehicle missing? Another missing person? Someone with a vehicle who is not reported yet? Considering, if this occurred on Friday night, he had almost a 3 day head start. He might not even be in the area at all.

My gut feeling is that he killed himself shortly after and hasn’t been found yet.

This is also a huge possibility. I have thought of that as well. I know they have searched with dogs, but cadaver dog searching is different as far as I know.

Unless he is not there at all. While this doesn't seem extremely well thought out, if it was, I think he would be more savvy than get himself trapped in in a large but relatively small area of the country.

Travis Decker manhunt enters week 4. Latest update from Chelan County, WA sheriff. Fox13 Seattle. 2 hours ago.

I believe he’s aiming to remain free but if cornered, he’ll choose suicide by cop. If is goal was to commit suicide, he would have committed suicide after murdering his poor children. He’s a coward.

This is my thought as well. Who could live with themselves after doing something so heinous. He destroyed his ex. Mission accomplished.

Unfortunately I've found that a lot of people can easily live with themselves after committing heinous crimes. :( JMO

Yes, @Gemmie, we are certainly discussing several unremorsefuls on other threads. 🥺 They exist!

RE Trav: I feel like he’s slipped over the border into Canada. Some folks UT mentioned a number of places at the border where that would be possible. Shave, dye his hair, drop the earrings, wear sunglasses — might not be easily recognized. JMO.

UPDATE FROM THE Kittitas County Sheriff's Office:

JUNE 23 UPDATE: TRAVIS DECKER REMAINS AT LARGE

24 days ago, it’s believed Travis Decker killed his three daughters and disappeared into the forest around the Rock Island campground in Chelan County. Since then, the official search to find and arrest him has included dozens of agencies and organizations, hundreds of people, and thousands of hours.

The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office has focused on protecting our community, preparing to capture and arrest Decker if he comes here, and coordinating with the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office to provide other requested help in the search. Deputies have maintained extra patrols in the areas in and around the Teanaway Valley, Blewett Pass, Liberty, and Lauderdale. Kittitas County Regional Tactical Response Team members have spent days and nights in remote terrain, working with K9 resources and experienced trackers to identify and follow any credible lead to Decker’s location. Detectives have investigated dozens and dozens and dozens of potential sightings, tips, and leads provided by the public.

At this time, there is no certain evidence that Decker remains alive or in this area. Seemingly strong early leads gave way to less convincing proofs over the last two weeks of searching. Still, we can’t and won’t quit this search; Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia Decker deserve justice. And Decker remains a danger to the public as long as he’s at large.

We are still asking for and will continue to investigate leads and tips from the public. We remain prepared to deploy our own resources and call on our partners in this search if new evidence points to Decker’s whereabouts. Some search resources are being redirected to find and recover Decker if he died in the rugged wilderness during this intense search—a possibility that increases every day. Visible extra patrols continue in the area. The US Marshals service has turned their fugitive-finding resources to the task of finding Decker if he’s left our area.

The KCSO deputies and detectives who’ve been at this search for three weeks want nothing more than to bring Travis Decker to justice. We still believe public awareness and help is our best tool—whether it comes from a cabin owner who finds something out of place, a hiker in the Enchantments who discovers evidence our searches missed, or anyone else.

Please continue to be vigilant and aware of anything suspicious or out of place, and please keep alerting us to what you see by calling Kittcom at 509-925-8534.

I keep seeing references to the time (2.5 months?) that he spent living off the grid in the wilderness. Has it been said when/where that was? Apologies if I missed it!

I have not seen any specifics or further details on when or where.

The only reference is the Affidavit from the US Marshall. Decker's father told investigators that his son had enjoyed spending time in the wilderness since childhood and was known to cache supplies in remote areas.

"Amongst other outdoorsman activities, DECKER frequently engaged in hiking, camping, survival skill practice, hunting and even lived off the grid in the backwoods for approximately 2.5 months on one occasion."

Thanks for sharing this LE statement from today @UsernameRequired.

The above quoted excerpt from your post makes me think we're down to two possibilities:

1. TD is dead or

2. TD was never in or is out of the search area.

IMO.

I don't have the link handy but the references I saw seemed to indicate in the general area where the family resided. I don't think any specifics were given as to exactly where he did the off grid hiking/camping trips.

Cadaver dog joins manhunt for fugitive dad accused of killing three daughters

Curious if this is a protocol or process for due diligence or maybe there's a clue he met his demise.

Does Washington get turkey vultures? Not sure it's a thing for sure, sometimes if seen can mean something deceased (don't quote me on that info). MOO
