During Q&A - Sheriff Morrison - "We understand this could take years"

FBI should be going live in about 3 minutes if they are on time. They can be seen setting up now from the link I posted above.
Thank you!

Seems like one last big search for a body before the leaves start to fall and the snow comes to cover everything up.

That makes sense, but IMO if his remains were nearby I believe a camper or hiker would have come across them this summer.

I agree, and IMO, even the sheriff didn't seem like he thought they would find anything, as he was speaking about them doing this to help LE who might deal with this crime years from now.

I agree being a west coaster in BC, Canada.... the winters are very mild in some areas. Vancouver and Southern Vancouver Island (3 hour ferry/boat ride from Seattle) are the most mild usually.

On the island we get maybe 1 day of snow or 3 days maximum IF that and it doesn't last more than a day or two.

Southern Okanagan which is above Washington and has border crossing, there the winters are dry but get snow but still semi-mild too.

And yes, harder to get over borders. No idea about water travel in to Canada from the US, but I think since tensions (ahem, not sure how to say it lol....) have risen with our US friends :) Canada has likely amped up security all over all ways to cross the border.
Years ago (late 70s/early 80s) I took the ferry several times from Seattle to Juneau or Anchorage with a stop-and-get-off-and-hitchhike back down to the Lower 48, in British Columbia.

The authorities checking everyone's documents would not let you get off the ferry in Canada without proof of solvency to get back where you came from in the US ($200 back then), because they didn't want any Americans to become a ward of the state.

Grr. Personal pet peeve. I know that many, many Americans make this same mistake so I shouldn't be surprised at the Daily Mail, but in the US a National Park is very different from a National Forest. They aren't even under the same Cabinet Department! This closure happened on National Forest land. No National Parks nearby.

The search for Travis Decker, the man missing since June after likely killing his three young daughters at a Chelan County campground, continues with the FBI taking the lead, the Chelan County Sheriff's Office announced Monday. The search for Decker has gripped both Washington state and the nation for months, with hundreds of volunteers and thousands of hours spent looking for the alleged murderer. Investigators initially indicated they believed Decker to be alive and hiding, using his extensive wilderness survival skills to move through the Washington backwoods and possibly the Pacific Crest Trail.Several reported sightings of the man further muddied the search, but all of these were later proven false. On Sunday, several campgrounds and hiking trails in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest were closed specifically to search for Decker, returning the search to the place of the killings. Now, during a press announcement on Monday, Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison said the FBI Seattle Office will be leading the ongoing search across rugged and heavily forested terrainFor more on the story: https://komonews.com/news/local/travi...''

I have a question; if he was homeless, how was he allowed to take his kids for visits? I am not saying he should have been denied visitations (although in hindsight that might should have been the case). but I would think he might be allowed supervised visits until he found accommodations. i don't know the whole divorced with kids situation and how that works.

Since losing housing, TD's visitation was adjusted to alternate Fridays, from 5 pm to 8 pm, and carried out without issue until the date of their demise. The mother reported TD had never been late returning the kids or out of contact before. The court finds a 3-hour visit after school provides sufficient time for the parent and child to have a meal and visit. This was not out of the ordinary-- until it wasn't.

Not being able to afford housing doesn’t typically mean abusive of your kids. Visits are usually continued and just happen at a relative/park/outing

This seems like good news, IMO, like there's going to be a break soon in finding him, trained survivalist or not.

If only that LE had to go out very far and wide after not finding him around there at first.

Remembering witnesses saying they saw him not too far off in the first weeks and the helicopter or plane searching the area had to abandon their aerial search due to a fuel shortage and a wildfire nearby, IIRC.

Then LE 'lost him' for lack of a better term.

And were following tips and leads and searching for months and investigating far and wide, multi-state.

Now they seem to be circling back to the scene of the crimes where he could be hiding close by all along.

Not too close so they could find him searching nearby at first.

But if he has been hunkered down in some hidey hole with supplies at a distance "surviving" and no other leads came to much, well then...

If he could have done a dupe, they have to go back to the place of origin of the murders, which is sometimes the 11th step of 12.

JMO, having ultimate faith in LE, he is about to run out of time and his 9 lives, and will be captured before he moves again.

MOO

I apologize in advance if this has been discussed (moving and my world is upside down right now). But why this far out from the date they went missing? I'm thinking they had to already search this area, so they're re-searching it for clues that might have been missed? I would think clues found fresh and shortly after would be more helpful. JMO

FBI's BAU (Profilers) wanted to return to this area. We have a thread on WS dedicated to missing persons that are later found in previously searched areas-- which are usually within a mile or less of the area and/or location where they were reported missing from.

My feelings about TD haven't changed from day one -- if TD isn't in the Isicle River, I too believed his remains would be found close to where his daughters bodies were found. JMO

Well, maybe their ongoing investigation has really just led them to "circling back around" thereabouts...

Like some criminals stay close to the scene, whatever their reasons....

Sooner or Later, in this case, I think they will find him, and they have evidence post-early days that's leading them now to his lair, if you will, all bets are off kind of situation...

Get in there, rout him out & no splaining left to do for their methods of approach, enough resources have been spent in that dance LE has to do....

Now with all the media attention (yes, it's been all along, while everyone is trying to just figure it out and seek justice for the three sweet girls), whether their inputs are good, middling, ugly or bad, I think they're definitely feeling 'on the spot' -- LE -- for a resolution soon, before the snow flies....

JMO, here come the Valkyries, the avengers, and TD will not be able to hide from them much longer, I feel it in my bones.

New video today. Forty-two minutes. Sheriff Morrison indicated they found a couple of pieces of evidence during the two-day search that are being analyzed. The word "evidence" suggests to me that the items would pertain to this particular crime, but maybe he is referring to items that could pertain.

With the time allowed, they were able to expand their search radius out somewhat beyond the original half-mile. There will be another operation in September to expand out further.
