If he got less than a mile away, imo this wasn't accidental. Wonder if it's too late for a cause of death. There are a few that would imo show, like gunshot to the head, but some that wouldn't after this much time.

I am wondering if he had intent to keep hiking or he had a spot picked out if he killed himself.

Hopefully we will get some answers as I think so many people were invested in this story. Really a sad sad story.

While positive identification has not yet been confirmed, preliminary findings suggest the remains belong to Travis Decker,' a statement from the Chelan County Sheriff's Office reads.

Sheriff Mike Morrison told NCWLIFE while they are awaiting further confirmation, it 'seems to be consistent with (clothing) we believe he was last seen in.'

The sheriff's office is continuing to process the scene of the discovery alongside the Washington State Patrol crime scene response team.

Authorities said a further DNA analysis will soon take place.

Must be such a relief knowing he isn't still out there somewhere

"Spread of the remains , consistent with animals getting into it." said by Sherriff Morrison @1:47
Seems like he was dead for a while.
Such a senseless , selfish act !
Rest in peace , little ones

Hasn’t been positively identified via DNA yet but sounds like authorities are basically 100% confident it’s him despite that just based on other clues such as location/clothing, etc. I wonder how long he has been dead for. Just crazy he was that close to the crime scene and wasn’t found earlier despite months of searching.

Either way, thank god that that nightmare is over for the families

From the article I just posted link to:
Investigators believe it could be 33-year-old Decker due to the clothing on the remains.
“Clothing and personal items are similar to items that we knew were associated with Mr. Decker at the time of the incident," Morrison said. “The clothing top and clothing bottom match, along with other personal items that were on scene.”
Oh please, please let it be.

Sad story that this 'father' killed his precious young daughters. He should have started with himself if he had thoughts of killing on his mind. I'm not sorry for being so blunt, but Olivia, Evelyn and Paityn had a wonderful, full life ahead of them. Until he made the choice to end it for them.

I hope they identify these remains quickly and Mom can finally begin the grieving and healing process, although I can't even imagine how you'd start to come to terms with losing all of your precious children. Such a tragic case for all involved.

Remains possibly Decker. I am guessing there were items discovered that give strong indications? Also depends on the condition of remains as well.

This is not surprising. I often wonder if he ended himself not long after?

Were the remains found under water?

May have missed this somewhere in the news, but was his death because of an accident, or did he take his own life? After this time length, can cause of death be determined?

I assume we'll learn those details once the autopsy is finished. I think whether the COD can be determined might depend on what it was - like, if it was a gunshot wound, that should be pretty obvious. If he killed himself the same way he killed the girls, whatever he used to do it might well have been on or near the body. An accident or death from exposure might be more difficult, but I'm not a doctor or pathologist so this is all just speculation

"The remains – including bone fragments, along with clothing and other personal items – were found in deep brush on Grindstone Mountain, Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison told CNN affiliate KIRO. “It was not an area we had previously searched before,” the sheriff said. With the help of a drone, authorities found the remains at an elevation of 4,000 feet, Morrison told KIRO. Detectives were hoisted down from a helicopter to the scene of the discovery, which would take about three hours to hike up to, he said."

I reckon the evil coward killed himself very soon after he murdered the girls.
Glad it looks like he's been found.
