Morrison said all indications are that Decker died in that location a while ago.

After the announcement of the discovery Thursday, the sheriff office said it had been in contact with the Decker family and is "providing them with support and updates as the investigation proceeds."

"We are praying that the remains found are confirmed to be Travis's. We continue to be grateful for law enforcement's efforts in this case and are forever appreciative of the entire world's love, compassion, and support for Whitney," said Arianna Cozart, the attorney for Whitney Decker, Decker's ex-wife and mother of the three girls killed
.

Interesting... (certainly it's Decker but I understand wanting to wait to confirm the bones as well)

However, according to the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Marshals “jumped the gun.”
KIRO 7 News has been told the DNA results the U.S. Marshals got back was for the clothing found on the bones that were found last week.

DNA results for the bones are still expected Wednesday afternoon or Wednesday night.

Love that we should have an answer TODAY! This is a great day for me all the way around. And then this news gets added to it. :)

I think this is critical to be accurate about this case.

It would be entirely expected that TD's clothing would have his DNA on them.

It is critical to assure the bones are his, and not someone else's who was wearing his clothing. Improbable, but a really important detail for LE to be able to close this case and assure security to his wife.

I can wait

Thank goodness there is confirmation. I hope some type of healing can begin although will be a tough road.

*ETA: Oops I jumped the gun by posting in real time while I read instead of reading whole thread... Hoping so much the DNA on remains is a match and not just the clothes. I won't even dare imagine if we get thrown a curve ball here... Hoping not.

Amen, prayers for the girls' mama, that she be able to rest knowing he is dead and can no longer harm her or take anything further from her. May she be able to mourn her babies properly without his specter over her shoulder

This will be some really complicated grief. Someone you loved killing the children you both loved. And then, probably, also killing himself.

I only have an inkling of what she is going through and already that is devastating. I have no doubt she will work through it, she is obviously a very strong woman. But I do believe it is super complicated. I hope she has supportive family and friends that understand that it is a longer proccess.
I have had some thoughts rolling around in my head for a few days, and "complicated grief" sums it up. Chances are this mom once loved her then husband, might have loved him dearly, and chances are they both took joy in the births of their children and in the steps of the girls' growth from babies into toddlers and so on.

Alarming changes and then what happened happened at his hand, and now the once-loved partner's earthly remains are reduced to a few bones and a foot, with a shirt holding up better than he did.....how to wrap your mind around that!! But the whole world has sent her energy, and she will surely get through it.

Lol. "Grizzly End."

They have no idea how he died, much less if it was "grizzly."

But DM learned this from TMZ, so there's that... ;)

UPDATE FROM The Chelan County Sheriff's Office (posted at 4:00pm PST today 09/24/2025)

Chelan County Sheriff's Office Response to U.S. Marshals' Filing Regarding Travis Decker:

It has come to our attention the U.S. Marshals Service has filed court documents indicating that Travis Decker is deceased.

At this time, the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office is not in a position to make a positive identification or confirmation of Mr. Decker's status. We are currently awaiting DNA test results from the state Crime Lab, which are expected to be returned within the next few days.

Once the DNA results are confirmed, the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office will hold a press conference to share findings and address any questions from the media and public. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to ensure the accuracy and integrity of this investigation.

"Grisly" end, meaning an end that is horrifying or disgusting. Such as rotting in the wilderness. Nothing to do with grizzlies. :) Definition of GRISLY

Typo, but I was talking about the same thing. Dying that way isn't grisly. He either killed himself, or died from exposure.

A "grisly end" refers to an extremely unpleasant, violent, and bloody death or outcome. The word "grisly" describes something gruesome and disgusting, often involving extreme violence or cruelty, such as grisly murders or a grisly accident, according to Merriam-Webster and Collins Dictionary

Ah sorry, I thought you were saying there was no evidence he had been attacked by a bear 😂

I'm assuming these 2 entities worked together on this manhunt for TD . It's really sad that they couldn't work together to the very end. There's got to be some kind of common law that both would know when to declare and announce someone dead. It's almost seems like ,let's see who can be first . Maybe it's just me being overly sensitive to this case , but, still the last thing that needs to happen is some ridiculous clash about who was first , 2nd or 3rd. The Marshalls should have definitely waited until all reports were back and final. What's 2 or 3 days even 10 days to finalize the whole thing. I'm sure Mom has been assured that he is deceased and was just waiting for that final positive test. All my opinion !
