His body finally being located within a mile of the murder scene after 4 months is inexcusable to me. That's Search 101 and they had numerous searching capabilities including highly skilled personnel and drones that finally picked up on the t-shirt recently. They knew he was well experienced in hiking and hiding out of sight as an Army Ranger.

In an area with steep cliffs, hidden crevices, crumbling rock, thick vegetation, and they had to lower people in by chopper. He could have concealed himself easily and it was only recently when animals dragged the remains out to where a drone could see them.

This is rough country. They were lucky to find him at all.

I see what you're saying. It could have been only relatively recently that animals dragged the remains out to where a drone could see them. Maybe drones had surveilled that area prior and there was nothing to be seen, whereas now there was?

The way I constructed my mental picture, he died more or less where he was found and animals subsequently took remains from that site.

I wonder how strongly a missing torso and head relate to hanging. I have pictured some sort of an intentional drug overdose maybe.

Not too much appears to be new here, but Chelan County Coroner Wayne Harris did issue a press statement yesterday. Near the outset he stated, "Out of respect for the Decker family, I will try not to go into too many details". Maybe he meant he wouldn't be naming specific bones of the body, talking about animal predators, etc.?

From his statement: "The remains have been examined by the state anthropologist, and he was able to determine that there were no fractures in any of the bones that would indicate a fall." (I guess it's possible that fractures in bones not found could indicate a fall.)

I believe we knew this detail: "The limited remains that were recovered were located in 5 different areas, which were several hundred yards from each of the sites."

Based on what they have now, the coroner states the cause and manner of death will not likely ever be known. Overall, there appears to be a touch of finality in his comments, at least at the present time, and he adds, “The greatest hope is now the Decker family and the community can begin to heal”.

Speaking for myself only - TD is dead, he's been found so WD does not have to keep looking over her shoulder in fear and TD's blood relatives know to not hope he may return some day and I don't need to know anything more.

Thank you for replying. I thought if he did use a gun to off himself maybe if his skull is found the COD could be determined, but heck, they have no gun and no skull.
I suppose we will never know but I'm just very glad his living victims no longer have to fear him.
He did his horrific damage to them then took the easy way out. Jmo

Or... did his torso separate from his skull and spine from where he hung himself, so the torso and T-shirt ended up on the ground but his skull and perhaps spine still hang?

That sounds like a Predator scene!

Or... has LE withheld information on the condition of the T-shirt. Maybe it was ripped into pieces and covered in bodily fluids or tissue as might occur with animal / bird scavenging on his torso? And that could occur if TD died on the ground or if he hung himself per above.

Or... was the T-shirt folded neatly with his pants and bracelet on the ground suggesting paradoxical undressing due to the final stages of hypothermia?

Without further details (inquiring minds would love to know), at face value, it seems odd LE found TD's T-shirt but no evidence (e.g. blood) of his torso.

Apologies, I meant to reply to you sooner. Yes, I agree about the t-shirt being a fly in the ointment (so to speak). I suppose he could have stripped before doing so (and perhaps thats why the t shirt wasn't still with the torso and found?). I wonder whether there is anything that could be gleaned from the condition of clothing found that would give clues as to how those final hours unfolded?

Or maybe it's freezing to death. I don't think it was cold enough for either, but outdoor experts would know.
