Wonder whether they thought to change whatever cash they had to pesos before crossing the border - you have to have a passport to do it in Mexico.

So did these two make it to Mexico and how much money did they have? Could be still in the US hiding out at a fellow bird of a feathers place until they get more money. Can't their father be arrested for helping them?

The father could be charged with aiding and abetting however that would be up to to the DA's office.

OSO — Three days after an Arlington-area couple disappeared, one of two fugitive brothers suspected of killing them tried to cash a $96,000 cashier's check at a bank in Ellensburg.
The bank refused to provide John Reed the money in a lump sum. Instead, it wrote four checks for $14,000 each to his relatives and a $40,000 check to Reed.
At the behest of law enforcement, a “stop payment” order was placed on the checks, and bank transactions were frozen. The money came from the recent sale of Reed's property that had been damaged by the 2014 Oso mudslide. It is unclear from court documents if John Reed received any of the cash, although attempts were made by family to funnel the money his way.
...
The bank activity is described in a search warrant filed April 25.
The document also described use of Tony Reed's state-issued Electronic Benefits Transfer food card at a 7-Eleven and Safeway in Arlington in the two days after the couple's disappearance.
...
The suspects' mother told a detective that she believed her sons “would make police shoot them” if they were found.
The mother also said “if she contacted her sons first, she would shoot them herself because she wouldn't want to see them go to prison,” the search warrant says.
I really don't think the brothers can have much cash on them. Maybe that $500 from the acquaintances in Phoenix was an advance on one of the 4 checks.
...on the run in Mexico with no cash?!? I hope they turn themselves in before things get even uglier!

If true, then they did make it to mexico.

There are two cities that straddle the US/Mexico border. In South East California near El Centro.

Calexico - On the California side of the border.
Mexicali - On the Mexico side of the border.

Good grief!

What?!!!! So she'd rather have them dead and be tried for murder herself than see them go to prison??!! I wonder if her sons agree!

Boy, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree in that family does it ? That includes both the mother and the father.

The father told the cops he wouldn't tell them where to find his boys even if he knew, and then Mom spouts off about rather seeing them dead than in prison.

These people are just nasty white trash. It's easy to understand why their "boys" feel entitled to do whatever they want to.

And SHE would be the one to kill them. Wow just wow.

Hmmm. How does one come to the conclusion that a life should be taken in lieu of going to prison? Outstanding parenting! Well, they are not victims as the new warrant states Daddy Dearest went along for the ride to the bank to plot the escape money.

Prosecutors believe alleged killers were reading couple’s social media in days after killing
According to an affidavit for a search warrant, two friends sent Facebook messages in the two days after the couple were allegedly murdered, and the messages showed up as “read” almost immediately.
...Snipped...BUT ALSO:
-The brothers told their father, Clyde Reed of Ellensburg, that they were in trouble and that detectives were going to come looking for them.
-John Reed’s phone made three trips to Ellensburg between April 10 and April 14.
-Detectives have confiscated a Ford F-250 that belongs to Clyde Reed. They said it has possibly been struck by a bullet on the rear passenger taillight, and that Clyde Reed said John Reed had been using the truck.
-A game camera at the end of the victims’ driveway is missing, and detectives say someone took it after the couple went missing. There was a media card left behind that contained images of John Reed, but it was from previous months not close to the date of the victims’ disappearance.

Three trips to Ellensburg after the 10th! Maybe the police had a good idea of this which is why the search for the bodies continued there...

Makes you wonder if the parents have a criminal record as well. I'd put money on it.

I was just about to post the apple comment when I saw yours!! I'm going to guess the parent's stellar parenting skills (insert sarcasm) is how their sons turned out to be such charmers. The whole family disgusts me. They're nasty, mean people who think they're above the law and the parents don't give a flip their sons (allegedly) took the lives of two people. Ugh.

It's good LE shut their money down, that was one of my biggest concerns. They could've bought their way across the ocean with a quarter million dollars. He sold his house for $244,000.00 ........and ended up penniless. I hope it was all worth it to him. What a fool.

If they are in Mexico and broke, then it won't be long before LE catches up to them.

Homeless gringos with no money and no job is a rarity in Mexico, they're gonna stick out.

Short answer - probably not. However, I need time to review then I can give you a firm answer. Putting out a fire in another area right now. This case is next in line. Until then, please don't sleuth the parents.
