WA WA - Patrick Cress, 13, murdered, Kingsgate, 30 April 1983

Oh I'd love to know what made them decide it was unrelated, and what exactly she meant by the "police don't know yet." When was this note collected, and how it ended up in Pat's file..
I would be interested to know too !!

Joined after I found this thread in a Google search about this case. I remember joining a FB group with details. I have a few questions hopefully someone here can answer.
1. I thought I had read that they were working on the premise the murder weapon was a baseball bat. But I haven't seen that in any of the articles.
2. I also thought I remembered the area that his body was found was frequented by HS kids hanging out. But I didn't see that in the articles either.
3. They talked about the wallet and the radio found buried in a separate location. In some places they talk about the radio being like a walkie talkie type radio, but the photo I saw looked more like a radio you'd listen to music on. Like an early version of a Walkman.

So here is what I'd want to know. Were the members of the local high school baseball team questioned? Did anyone in that area at the time know of anyone who played baseball in that open area on the weekends? Did anyone in the area remember kids who used to hit mailboxes with bats while driving? That used to be a thing back in the day. I think they need to hit these HS reunions with photos of the radio. Someone had that radio and brought it to parties or get togethers.

I don't know what to make of the difference in memory between the ride and walking. My main issue with the ride scenario is the logistics. He would have had to call the person to come pick him up. Chances are if it's an adult, his parents would have known who the car belonged to. I think it's unlikely.

He was seen walking. Although sometimes eyewitness accounts aren't accurate.

The last possibility I'm wondering if they considered would be a grooming situation. If his parent's say that's not his radio. Was he gifted the radio from someone else? I'd like to know if the sleepover friends saw the radio. It they didn't then the radio most likely belonged to the person or persons who killed him.

Did anyone else catch the police officer saying they'd like a subject to compare DNA to...did they find DNA on something? He was submerged in water. Did they get DNA off the wallet or the radio?

Lastly, I think they need to go to the reunions and advertise that they will not be pursuing accessory after the fact charges on anyone who comes forward. I heard the police officer say, "If you are concerned that you carried a body, don't be..." I think he needs to be more straight forward. Tell us what happened and we'll give you immunity. I think this was done by kids, teenagers. And if they were a small part of it they might not say anything because they are afraid of prosecution. Someone definitely knows something.
