Found Deceased WA - Paul, 72, & Lynne Schneider, 71, Kettle Falls, 1 May 2016

The picture of Lynn in that last link above breaks my heart...that look on her face is one I recognize on the face of my mother-in-law....scared and lost. My MIL suffered from Alzheimers and my father-in-law wanted nothing more than to care for her until she died. However, he suffered from mesothelioma (asbestos related cancer), failed very quickly after diagnosis and passed away before she did. She lived with my husband and I until she passed away three years later. I think his concern over his own cancer and health was secondary to his wish to be here to care for her. Had he not failed so quickly, I can imagine him reaching the point where a decision for them to die together might have been something he considered. Living with and caring for someone with Alzheimers is difficult and challenging. Worse yet is watching them slowly lose a little bit of themselves every single day....sad and heartbreaking.

With all the time that has passed with no trace of Paul and Lynn, I'm leaning towards the possibility that Paul made plans for the two of them to pass away together in a manner that would not leave a scene for their children to discover.

I can't help but wonder if loose ends were tied up (i.e. all bills paid up, trash taken out, etc) before they left to get coffee. Was the phone call to announce they were going to get coffee normal? Or was this phone conversation perhaps a last chance to say "I Love You"?

Where ever they are, I wish peace for them both as well as their family.

I am so sorry :(.

And I agree that is a likely scenario.

Silver Alert cancelled for missing missing Stevens County couple

Lynn and Paul Schneider
Lynn and Paul Schneider
STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. -

Stevens County deputies have cancelled a Silver Alert for a missing Kettle Falls couple after searching for two weeks. Paul and Lynn Schneider were last seen on May 1 and there is still no sign of them. Despite the cancellation, the sheriff's office still needs your help.

So they are still missing but the alert is being cancelled? To me that feels like "We can't find them...so oh well". I'm sure that is not the intent....but it just feels wrong to cancel the alert when they are still missing...

I'm not surprised...but still find it sad. Perhaps the family will find a small amount of comfort in the fact that they passed together....may they rest in peace.

Oh my, this is so heartbreaking although I can understand it at the same time. I'm not sure if Paul did this on purpose but I feel terrible for both of them no matter how it happened.

RIP :rose: :rose:

Paul and Lynne Schneider were headed northbound on Highway 395 just north of milepost 256 when their truck left the roadway and entered the Kettle River.

Interesting that neither of them had their seat belts on.
I wonder if this is usual for them or were they trying to escape from the truck?

I looked on Google maps to see if I could determine where the accident happened.

According to the report, the accident happened about 25 miles north of Colville on Highway 395 just north of milepost 256 in Ferry County. Colville is about 9 miles southeast of Kettle Falls in Stevens County.

I thought at first the accident happened between Kettle Falls and Colville, but the county and the miles didn't agree and you can't read milepost numbers either on Google.

I found this link which lists a map for Washington mileposts that you can click on. Enlarging it for the area, it looks like the accident happened about 15-16 miles north of Kettle Falls on Hwy 395.

I couldn't figure out anything more than that.

No seat belts, one vehicle left the roadway. I guess we will never know but at least they are still together. RIP, Paul and Kathy.
