Law enforcement in Chelan County is asking for the public’s help in locating a man missing since Sunday.

• Pedro Brito was last seen at about 6 a.m. Sunday in the Mission Ridge Ski Resort parking lot, according to Chelan County Emergency Management.
• Brito’s vehicle was found in the parking lot.
• He was last seen wearing a camouflage long sleeve shirt, black sweat pants and white slip on shoes. He also had a black coat.

Searchers have discontinued search near Mission Ridge for missing Wenatchee man - NCWLIFE

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office suspended its search over the weekend for a Wenatchee man who went missing last week near Mission Ridge Ski and Board Resort.

Capt. Jason Reinfeld of the Chelan County Sheriff’s office said Chelan County Search and Rescue made an extensive effort to locate Brito last week.

“We had teams of ground searchers, K9s, a helicopter, a drone with thermal (imaging) and detectives following up on any leads and tips,” Reinfeld said. “We’ve exhausted all our leads and tips from up in that area.”

He said the department continues to follow up on any tips it receives about Brito and detectives continue to investigate.

Hmm, so I wonder where Pedro went after he was last seen in the parking lot? Are there cameras anywhere along the roadways heading into the resort or in the parking lot? Are there cameras in the ski resort itself? Forgive me if I sound stupid...I've never skied before so I don't know the terminology or the particulars regarding checking in or preparing to ski. I can't imagine no one saw him getting his gear ready or putting on skis. Do people just ski right on out of their car or is there a procedure one would go through to ski? At a minimum you'd have to check in, right? Could Pedro have walked from his car to a wooden area where there are little to no people hanging out?

I understand he may have been "suffering from a brain injury", but what was his mindset when he left for the resort? Was this a planned, leisurely trip or a last minute outing? What was going on with Pedro?

Did he get the brain injury that day? From skiing? From something else?

If not, and it was from previously, I'm wondering how long he was like that...?

The final weekend of the 2020/2021 ski season at Mission Ridge was April 24/25 (see last entry at the link), so he would not have been there to ski.

Family told authorities that on May 8 and 9 before he disappeared Brito suddenly began acting paranoid and out-of-character, Magnussen said.

The family also believes Brito had never been to Mission Ridge, Magnussen said, so they aren’t sure what drew him there.
