I have a stepbrother who retired north of Seattle and moved to Sequim. It's a beautiful area, but for a teen, probably not a whole lot going on, and a big city would be a draw. Outside of bus, I don't know of any other mass transit between Sequim and Seattle, so he likely got a ride from a friend, at least part way. There are greyhound direct runs from Sequim (3-4 hours I think) or you can take a bus to the Bainbridge Island Ferry terminal and then a ferry to Seattle (about a 3 hour trip total).
