http://www.dailyrecordnews.com/scrapbook/cody-haynes-vigil-draws-small-crowd-in-kittitas/article_afedb58d-6db6-56c1-a05e-dcf3831044d4.html

Every year that passes the crowd at the annual Cody Haynes vigil gets a little smaller. On Saturday, there were only around 15 people outside of the Kittitas Community Center.

People gathered to release balloons and hear letters being read aloud at the 12th vigil for Haynes. Family members passed out bracelets and buttons with Cody's photo and name.

“We’ll probably go home and cry our eyes out tonight because I just feel like everybody’s forgotten about him,” said Desiree Bougher, a distant cousin of the missing boy.

Desiree and her sister, Jamey, have not given up hope and have continued to organized searches and hire private investigators. But there have been a few bumps on the road.

An earlier search party with search dogs found that the dogs weren’t properly trained to sniff out human remains. A private investigator was also found to not have a license.

“We’ve kind of learned the hard way, you really have to look into people that are saying they’re helping,” Desiree said.

Jamey said the group will have to continue asking for tips from anyone who knows anything that might help.

Harboring secrets can take a toll on a human's well-being. I'm curious if it's true that Richard Haynes had an altered physical/mental state after Cody's disappearance?

I guess his Dad took his secret to the grave.

Agreed @bykerladi . IMO ex-stepmom knows and AFAIK is still living.

yeah and reading old articles it sounds to me like she really didn’t like Cody. I’m thinking that the beating went too far and he didn’t survive. Why would you not check on a child in 18 hours? Ridiculous and cruel

Never did I expect to see the day I'd quote the bible, but here's to you Cody!
“For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed,
and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out to the open.”

~ Luke 8:17

Step tf up & clear your conscience, Marla.
(
ETA: where is she living now? Anyone know?)
